Ian-What FPS in the default 737? Expect similar to that.
Umm I don't think that is true. The default 737 is not nearly as complex and resource heavy. Just look at the PMDG 747 vs default 747.

Uh, hold on there - none of us have ever said to expect performance similar to the default airplanes. That's pretty unrealistic given the complexity we're dealing with here. What's been said is that if you can run the MD-11 and similar addons, you'll have no problems with this. I just don't want to set unrealistic expectations here that this is a magic airplane performance wise. It's as optimized as we've ever had it and there are some really neat new methods and technologies we've implemented, but that doesn't mean there's zero hit with it vs. a default plane.

Sorry Ryan! I was under the impression that there was almost a 0 FPS hit. I worded it with, 'similar' which to me if give or take 5FPS or so from it.

Thanks i dont have the md-11 but all my other sim add-on's get good FPS.Ian Besemer
Wow, those structures are very bigger than they look like. Now I'm curious. How does the process work? I mean, how do you get to have access to those diagrams, how do you convince the airlines to lend you their liveries to put in the planes... Is there a possibility you can explain us how the entire process works?
They supply Boeing engineers and airlines executives with Pogo Sticks. Now imagine a bunch of engineers jumping with some 80´s fun song as background music. That´s how you make business. :D

Ugh, don't limit your framerates in FSX. get an external fps limiter and set the limit at 30ish

I think Ryan or Robert had mentioned that compared to the 744 it performed much better so far in tests, so thats another thing you can go off as well. I own the 744 and JS41 butnot the MD-11 so for me knowing that its better than the 744 is good news in my case.I am hoping that it performs with similar FPS to what I get in the LDS 767.I wouldn't worry about the NGX performance to much though. You can always adjust the guage refresh rates and all the other options they give you to work well with what ever type of rig you have, just like they did in the 744 or JS4100.Sean Campbell

My specs are indeed in my signature, but PLEASE don't go buy the exact system I have - it is no longer top of the line and you can get much better now. I built it over a year ago, except for the video card. The CPU you want to get now is the Sandy Bridge i7 2500K or 2600K - the 8xx series i7s are totally outdated by the new CPUs that just came out. I'll tell you guys what - a few weeks before we release the NGX, I'll write a system buying/building guide that has my recommendations for what to get right at that moment in preparation for the release if you're looking to build a new system for it.
This would be much appreciated, I am planning a new build soon.. infact, I've already started to buy bits and pieces. The GTX580 is already here, new PSU (Antec 850 CPX) and the case should arrive this week (Antec DF85, ugly as sin, but lots of cooling and good cable management options). Very much looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks for the great posting this weekend, its always a pleasure to read all PMDG's insights. And congrats on the results so far, I am absolutely blown away at the beauty of what you are producing!

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this. But could you expand a little more on this. I currently set my FPS limit in FSX to 20fps...Is there a better way to do it?

Basically you set FSX's slider to unlimited, but then use an external framerate limiter dll that goes into the FSX folder to stop it from exceeding a certain value. The FSX engine works differently when the slider is set to unlimited vs. an actual framerate and is usually smoother with less fluctuation that way.

Thanks for the reply guys, I will definitely give this a try. FSX currently is a bit jerky for me when I'm in the 747-400X, so will take any improvement.

PMDG & WX Radar? read here

Dear Robert, Dear Ryan,...a really outstanding work I am really getting excited when I will use my recently bought Chief manuals from you on this plane. The CFM engine looks amazing and also the fan blades. The detail of this one is really awesome. Will be the fan blades also smoothly simulated as you did on your first 737NG ? I mean the different phases of start of the engines and that the cones is really unsharpend as the real fan blades behaves ? I loved this feature on your old bird....regardsPascal-Antoin

Hi Ryan,All very exciting ...Regarding the FPS issue, maybe in due course someone out there could help with an FPS "ready reckoner" for 737NGX? A matrix-type guide which could help ordinary folk like me work out what to do and get the best performance available to us, according to the various parameters of our PC setups. There seems to be a tacit assumption that just because we're into serious simming, we're also PC system specialists. Maybe not! In fact definitely not, in my case! Straight%20Face.gifI guess there are too many variables to make any such guide definitive, but something might be better than nothing? Also it might help bring together the wisdom of various prior threads on the same subject and pre-empt the flood of enquiries that are bound to follow 737's introduction - as doubtless you anticipate. As always, apologies if this post ignores the '000s of similar suggestions and responses ...Best wishes,David
