Flight project cancelled/on hold

Well Asshammer has skipped two shows since he made the remark.
You think Bill Gates dispatched Microsoft's own SEAL Team 6 to kidnap him? Might check some of the smaller islands around the sound, MS could have their own version of GITMO we don't know about... might be waterboarding him as we speak...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

HelloLooks better does not necessarily make it a better sim, it needs to exceed the FSX feature set as well.I am not sure that Flight! will.I have already lost interest in the product, Microsofts attempts at showing us parts of Flight! have been extremely lame so far, almost half hearted. My gut instinct is that it will be cancelled.
These type message are a bit perplexing ... many software developments today will show some content, then nothing for a while .. and then more content. Thats just how its. Now, I would understand if MS said the project was on hold, and you losing interest as a result. But you have lost interest because they haven't put up a video ..

I sent an email this morning to '[email protected]' asking them to provide us with an update. I got the usual automatic response but then seconds later I got an out of office email from 'Allie Henze' saying they were on vacation until 5th October. Allie is the Community Manager for Microsoft Game Studios.

How can you evaluate how much one feature earns?Or why do you think they invest in the SDK?smile.png
If a feature costs money then developer has to assess whether it's worthwhile - budgets aren't unlimited. The questions I posed were ones likely to be asked within Microsoft. They'd need a better response than how can you evaluate how much one feature earns? if the feature was to be retained.

So a simulator that has far superior graphics and could possibly run even better and look better than FSX doesn't interest you? Makes a lot of sense.
It makes perfect sense if there is no compatibility with my existing addons.

No; that was FlightSimWorld.com. Here at AVSIM, many of us were giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Mike, did you not see the clown face..... I stand by what I said before about Flight, only time will tell if I was taken for a ride......and if I was I'll be the first one to say so and to say I was 100% wrong...no clown face this time.

One easy question and i want a easy answer are microsoft still working on flight????????????

The simple answer: no, they are on vacation. According to the above post by "Poplar" they are on vacation until October 5th, which seems like a pretty long vacation although not nearly as long as the one Microsoft gave the ACES Studio.

So microsoft will be back and being again work on and upload screens and that but 5th october.

Haven't you been reading? Nobody knows.

HelloI have not lost interest because they have not put up a video for a while, just that what they have shown so far does nothing to make me feel interested. When I see the feature set and can try the demo then I may be interested in the product. For now I am happy with FSX and FS9.Also keeping a close eye on Prepar3D and Xplane10 both of which seem to be getting more development than Flight!

Yeah, prepared is quite promising. For $499 you will get: Product Information
  • 45 high-detail airports
  • 39 high-detail cities

Before people get too excited about Lockheed Martin Prepar3d, please keep in mind that the target user is the commercial market. This is great news for developers like Orbx who can leverage their FSX knowledge and create a whole new market that is separate and distinct from their hobbyist market (which would be us, the current FSX enthusiasts).
Just to clear up some misconceptions, the limitations on Prepar3d are all related to pricing and marketing - ie we can't sell a product at an "entertainment price level" and we can't market it as an entertainment product. But ANYBODY who wants to buy a copy (either a full seat license or a developer subscription) is free to do so (there's no limitation on how you use it, just how we sell it :-> ).
we can't sell a product at an "entertainment price level" and we can't market it as an entertainment product.
Which is just another way of saying that the target user is the commercial market.

It's also another way of saying, "what the end user actually uses it for is none of our concern, wink-wink, nudge-nudge..."
