Majestic Dash 8 Q400 - Release Thread

Manual waypoints can be defined in the real deal, but I don't think that's possible with the current simulation, although I'm unsure about that and haven't tried yet.

Pretty sure I have read it will indeeed come with future version.. can't say if it's Pro or Training

Has anyone completed a glitch free flight by the book yet?

4 or 5 with no issues at all. Purchased last night, down loaded and authorized. calibrated throttles using FSUIPC.  Started APU, Started engines, Programmed FMC using procedures, and completed flights. No problems at all as far as operations. Didnt even read any manuals! No sound issues, no VS speed reset issues etc! Did notice the FMS had a problem, in LNAV mode, finding a waypoint in a procedure. Once I initiated DTO the waypoint it was fine. Also bounces when first loading. That's kinda strange.

I've now completed a few flights and really am enjoying this add-on. The FPS are unbelievable.

The only issue I'm finding is the sort of start/stop motion when taxi-ing and flying, probably due to having an external FDE and also using trackir. I find that when I pause my trackir the motion seems to stop.

I am having this also, using ezdock. I find the issue is FDE to FSX SYNC, if I set it to enable, the stop/start motion disappears, but as soon as I move my throttles one inch, the aeroplane bounces in the air, does a loop and crashes. If I set the SYNC to disable, the huge bounce disappears but the stop/start motion returns

Another one here with the sound problem. Have tried all sorts of things, to no avail; sound always cuts out about ten minutes into whatever I'm doing. Have even tried editing the sound config settings in mjc84.ini (which is what the sim's control panel does, btw), with no luck. Got the sound to come out of my tinny monitor speakers, at least! - but it still cuts out. I set it back to map to my SBZ card and headphones, so it doesn't annoy the neighbors and their dog. There better be a patch for this, it would be a real shame to have to send it back.

Are you running win8 ? I was lucky to spend about 8 hours with one of the guys that done the beta testing and he did say the sound cutting out problem was a win 8 thing.

Three, need to test the holding patterns now, but it seems to be able to fly them perfectly.

Just made a flight tour within fspassengers. Everything works fine except even i made a smooth landing the landing gear was damaged during landing. Below is the message from fspassengers flight log:

One or more landing gear failed*. The pilot was able to land the aircraft safely.
NOTE*: One or more failures was probaby set by aircraft of another addon. FsPassengers can't judge such failure(s) or if it was pilot error. It is recommended to disable aircraft failures and keep only FsPassengers failures.

Course needle appears on the navigation display by pressing the format button for 2 sec. WX and Terrain map can be switched off by pressing WX/Terr for 2 sec.

Will ask again as I don't seem to have found a solution, so if anyone has an answer, grateful.

How does one steer this thing apart from that tiller which is kinda awkward to steer that and use a joystick? Is there a way to link that tiller to a joystick, as I have been using for so long on other aircraft, even on the NGX? I use the MS FFb2.

Thanks

I have a joystick to my left that is dedicated for steering tiller.  I set it to "spoilers" in FSUIPC, then go into the Majestic control panel, click on the "spoilers" for steering tiller, and set it up per the instructions.  My tiller works perfectly.

How to depart an airfield that doesnt have an sid?? Had to enter the ICAO code in the nav part to the nearest wpt.. but I would assume there is another way of selecting the runway for depart in the fpl menu page.

Manual says nothing..

If your airport doesn't have a SID, then the selection of a SID won't be in the "Menu>Departure" page, when you select it while you are on the Flightplan page.

It seems that if you want to takeoff without using the available SIDs, then just put your airport at the top line of your flightplan and don't go into the Menu>Departure page.

The 2nd option (Ailerons+Mouse) under the "Steering Control Mode" will link the nose wheel steering to your yoke or joystick.  This way the NWS is centered before takeoff, once over 40 knots the tiller does not have any input effect and rudder input is now required to maintain the centerline during takeoff.

I found the best option for me, since I use a dedicated joystick for the steering tiller, is to connect it to the "spoilers" in FSUIPC, then go into the Majestic control panel and set the steering tiller up as "spoilers" per the instructions in the manual.

Great! I look forward to the developer fixing it, then, since it happens with none of the other add-on software I have, all of it recent, on my Windows8 system. :)

Hi, @Pict: Is it common on the Q400 to rim the aircraft before you start your takeoff run? Kind regardsMartin
Yup its common with any turboprop without counter rotating props actually. By default msfs does not simulate the prop effects that well, by going outside of the msfs model, majestic's q400 will show the more pronounced reactions you'll get in real life (and like real life the trims make life easier and prevents tired limbs :-D )Best regardsXavier
Which reminds me, Popeye must have been a helicopter pilot, with his right arm 3x the size of his left; I've been enjoying practicing hover-taxiing and flying choppers recently, and my right arm's about to fall off, as there isn't the equivalent of the kind of trim you get on an airplane for straight and level cruise in a helicopter. :)

Guys, what's with the aircraft jumping when loaded? Every time the aircraft is spawned it bounces few times on the spot, sometimes so severe that sim considers it a crash.

Something to do with OPUS camera, GSX, AES, AccuFeel? I have all of those installed.

I dont have any of those installed and it jumps upon loading. I have never used crash detection either.

Could you post an example? Where do I find these number for my hardware (CH Throttles) from FSUIPC? The document says to get values from hardware but nothing about where to get them.

Thanks

You're probably making the same mistake many others are - launching the Control Panel, without first having FSX running, and the Dash 8 loaded.

If you just run the Control Panel, the value are static and will not respond to moving your axes.

If you run FSX and load the Dash 8 and then go to Windowed Mode, and start the MJC Control Panel;   now when you move your Engines 1+2 axis (they need to be assigned as such, in FSX of course!), you will see the values in the Control Panel change.

You can note the value in the "POSITION" field, for where your throttle level is physically positioned, and place those value(s) into the required fields for MAX, DETENT, IDLE, etc....

So no-one can really give you 'values' as such;  the values come from where you want each detent to be, within your axis range.

Hi Pilots who love to use touch screens instead of mouse and keyboard. The Dash8 pilot version is not made for using touch screens. There are a lot of buttons you cannot properly use with touch screen monitors. The radios, fms ect..... Majestix will only work on it for the > 200€ cockpit version but this version will not have any virtual cockpit anymore. Thiis true, I had conversation with Majestic about this matter. So if you like your mouse, it is ok, if you like to use touch screens properly like in every PMDG think twice about the DASH purchase.

Cheers Tom

The jumping plane has nothing to do with OPUS, GSX or ACCUFEEL it is the moment when the software switches to it's own FDE ( Flight Dynamics) This is what Majestic told me.

Cheers Tom

Thank Tom. I guess I'll live with it and have the crash detection off ;)
