Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended Released!

Featured Replies

Dan, I understand your point, but I have to echo what Ryan says. I can't imagine I won't get this plane, and I understand that things could've gone differently if RXP was still actively supporting their product. It's not a matter of fault or blame, but the information is relevant. And I do honestly wish they'd left the option for a 2D inclusion to the customer. Like it or not, RXP support is a big deal for many of us. That photo does exaggerate the situation and does so a bit at the expense of A2A.

I'm sure I'll praise the plane when I have it, but for now this is information I need and want to see.

And you're right about it, all I'm saying is that we don't have to put so much emphasis on this while the other segments of the new product seem to be outstanding.

Dan

You might not but since I would be one to put my good money down I will focus on whether or not it has RXP support. I'm still going to buy it, I'll put in a popup panel.

Too funny!

As for the Twin Otter, I'm downloading it now but it's painfully slow.

I think I'm going to get this as a big fan of the original. And I have Lukla and SABA scenery to fly it into.

Just a question, does this have volumetric landing lights or the old style?

I reported that "ifly" post/site to admin as spam. That's just creepy how he copied AvSim's layout, then has the 'nads' to post link spam in a popular thread on the very site he's copying. Bottom feeder.

Looking forward to doing some fun back-country flying with the Twin Otter Extended. I've spent a fair amount of time with the original "X" version, and enjoyed the time spent flying that model. With all new graphics and and modeling, this new rendition fits my needs very well.

I think it would be a nice gesture if Aerosoft did add RXP integration to the Twin Otter Extended, but I'm not bothered in the least by their decision not to include RXP. I've come close to buying RXP products myself, but I'm not real keen about tossing my money into someone's pocket who won't even acknowledge I exist. I expect the same is true for Aerosoft... If RXP had answered the phone or read their emails, things might be different.

I'm guessing there's a strong business opportunity for someone who would like to pick up where RXP left off...

Why don't we try and keep up the positive culture of our community before the developers loose motivation and stop producing after all. Believe it or not, they're on our side! That's why we have so many add-ons coming to us each months.

I would slightly disagree - it's payware for a reason.  We're customers first and foremost.  I would like to think that every time I place down my hard earned money in exchange for a product, that I've tried to evaluate whether that product holds a reason for me to do so.

This plane may well be the best thing ever (and I look forward to flying it for myself shortly), but it doesn't mean that we should ever turn a blind eye nor silence our opinions to the items that may hold importance to ourselves as consumers.

I loved the original and expect to feel the same about this version. Took about an hour flight from CYVR to KORC without incident. Behaved normal and predictable.

Looking for way to remove heavy reflections in windows, as I want to see all the expensive scenery I paid for. With opus already misting up the visuals, I prefer clarity.

Kind regards,

nice airplane, looks like i'll eventually buy this.  same crew that did the bronco so top notch.

as for rxp integration, i'm sure the gauge file can be edited to replace the crap fsx gns with the rxp gauge.  the 3d buttons may not look perfect but should work.

as an example, cera's 412 uses the fsx gns but gauge file edit to replace it with rxp looks good and works perfectly.

Yes, the RXP gauge can be put in, but unfortunately it overlaps with some of the radios...

I've asked Aerosoft if they can assist in fixing this - it would not be hard to do.

Suggest posting a request on their forum if you would like to see this happen.

Just took my first flight, from CEC4 Jasper-Hinton, to a grass strip at CYJA Jasper - short little sightseeing tour that I've flown many times, looks nice with NRM.

So far I'm very impressed with the plane - seems to be extremely well done. From what I can tell they've done a good job with the engines - I'll be finally breaking down and getting a second TQ, I think - my first start up on the second engine sharply reminded me what happens when you try to start an engine with fuel flowing...

Engine management seems well modeled, but after my embarrassment with the fire, I didn't have the heart to see if there's a failure built in with over-torquing. There did seem to be a well done increase in torque with a decrease in prop rpm. Definitely enough depth to everything to keep me happy.

Handles really nice - not overly sensitive or overly dull. Rate of decent and airspeed are easily managed. Had a very nice short landing on the grass strip at CYJA. Seeing as I've only been flying the AN-2 since that was released, I almost felt like I was coming in too fast, but of course I wasn't - everything just seems fast compared to that. ^_^

The interactive checklist is really well done, and the bundled fuel planner is a nice touch. There's also some sort of flight recorder, but I'll have to read the manual to see what that does. I didn't see any way to hide the yoke, but I haven't read the manual yet, and they've done a nice job of including VC views that cover all the areas of the panel that you need to see.

The only minor negative for me (ignoring the RXP topic) is that the majority of the switches require both left and right clicks, which means that I can't use them with my touchscreen. But almost everything lately it seems has at least a few switches that require a right click, so it's far from being alone - I can't really fault the devs for that one.

I'll really need some more time to get properly acquainted; but I can most assuredly say that I'm really pleased with my purchase. ^_^

Last night went for a short hop from Aberdeen to Inverness, awesome aircraft and although the scud was down to 1000', completely overcast and raining the frame rates were up there, great performance over Orbx Scotland.

I own the original with the sonic solutions sound pack however that won't get flown now this plane is in the hanger, a no brainer 'go get it' to anyone thinking about this it's awesome. It just looks, sounds and flies so well.

What Jim Stewart said, very nearly word for word, fire 'n' all!
