Watch Rob's video he posted a link to in this thread.  Put it fullscreen and you will get an idea of the watermark.

I've known folks who've had P3D v1.4 installed for months and never even noticed that pale, tiny and almost invisible watermark in the upper right corner! :LMAO:

I'm active duty military, therefore, real-world obligations prevent me from living here like some do... Either way, that was the biggest qualm I had with P3D and why it just sat and gathered dust on my HDD. Having purchased 1.4 way back, I won't be shelling out another full retail dollar amount for what should've been a patch or upgrade..

Odd that anyone would consider a total gutting of the thousands of lines of legacy rendering code and a total rewrite for GPU rendering would believe it is just an upgrade. I had to pay for every iteration of the FS series, so am not shocked that a new version requires a new purchase.

You can add one of the 'launcher apps' that've been released to add that feature to P3D v1.4, so it really doesn't need to "gather dust" any longer... B)

I was not entertained during the capture of the screenshot

Hi, I see it's a Aerosoft AirbusX and do you have the buttons work? I have only 2 or 3 of them working.

As someone who gets 10-15 fps on FSx with a £3k PC I am thinking P3D is the answer to my prayers!

I am having a few graphical glitches, a lot of the default terrain appears as some sort of mirror which is odd but first time I ran it p3d complained about not seeing a file and closed.  Second time it ran.

I think LM will sort out obvious things fairly quickly and we will have a quick update if there are widespread obvious issues.

Their is a guy over at ORBX who has been having lots of performance problems...been posting for hours and just did the old delete the .cfg and let it rebuild with a restart. Claims it got his FPS out of the potty. May be worth a try for some. I have not even downloaded yet this morning just a heads up. May help and may not but easy to try.

Yes that was me and yes it worked well. I went from 20-23 to 75 but then turned sliders up one at time and settled on 44, then lock them at 30.

Just a quick tip, I noticed some people are going straight to the settings and maxing everything out, the settings are not apples to apples with FSX, there's a LOT more going on in P3D.

For the shadow options, leave them at the default settings. Checking them all on is a killer, and honestly you won't see much of a difference. At default settings, you will see cockpit shadows which is very nice.

You will notice that medium settings looks really good, and doesn't bog down your framerate (at least on my test systems).

I must say the cockpit shadows look incredible and far surpasses DX10....but is it worth $199 to not have the watermark...hmm.

Oh my... I bet you didn't fly above New York and compared how things looked with all shadows off and all shadows on... The difference is staggering, amazing. When you have shadows on and then turn them off, things look so.. dead, flat, FSX, whatever. The difference is very obvious and boy, do I wish I could fly with shadows turned on...!!! It really changes the world around you in the sim in an incredible way!

Big bummer that my GTX580 can't handle it. I currently run P3D with FSX-like settings (almost exactly the same, really) but of course now I do have non-popping autogen as far as the eye can see and great VC-shadows. (And no Vsync...) I'd love to have more options on though...

From Rob's video (thanks for uploading, btw!), v2 looks unremarkably like...FSX w/ real time shadows and better rendered clouds. Hard to make a statement about frame rates considering Rob's system is an absolute beast. FSX (properly tuned) has always been "silky" out of the box for me with nothing loading it down. If it were 64-bit or there was a demonstrable improvement in VAS usage (which we can't really know until you get a PMDG 777, parked at a high end third-party photoreal airport, with AI traffic zooming around), I might bite, but it's hard to claim much of anything except, "Yup, that looks like FSX" from this video.

Before I slam it can anyone tell me if there's any difference between the $9.99 a month and $59.99 version?

Has anyone noted any difference in running Hyperthreading vs not?

After all that Geofa has contributed to this community over many years, I think that is a low blow.  He gave his opinion; people disagreed; and now he has moved on.  Hardly warrants a rude insult.

Two things about the water.. The water animation is missing. You know the white crest of the waves..forming and disappearing? that effect is not there

secondly, the merge of the P3D ocean and the scenery water edges are very harsh.. see the extreme right end of the screenshot?

BTW..Does anyone know whot to set up a a fog condition in the weather settings? What do I need to do for Volumetric fog?
