April 5, 201511 yr I never thought I'd shed tears over something FlightSim related, but today I did just that. I'm tearing up again up as I type this. Amazing how one man could have such a profound effect on so many lives of people he never met. Yet he clearly cared so deeply for. His love for us, the FS community, was beyond words. I'm off to raise a glass in his memory and shed a few more tears. April 5, 201511 yr Thank you, Robert, for your words about our very dear friend. I actually remember him telling that inop yaw damper story in Wichita, KS... I learned a lot on that trip, especially when it came to scotch. April 5, 201511 yr Nice words, Robert. Thank you for sharing this. Very unfortunate loss indeed. God only knows the influence of Tom's work and dedication to this community and to our enjoyment of this hobby. To many of us unable to fly in the real world for whatever reason, flight simulation certainly goes beyond being a hobby. So Thank you Tom. Your legacy, I'm sure, will live on. -E Enrique Vaamonde

April 5, 201511 yr A fine tribute to a great man, Robert. He will be sadly missed. Every time I log in to the forum I will remember him and his fantastic contribution to this community.
April 5, 201511 yr Rob, That is one of the most amazing things i have ever read on any forum. And to bring a 48yr old man who knows neither of you close to tears has to be the best tribute to Tom possible. This hobby has been part of my life for nearly 30yrs i guess. I remember the PMDG 757 for Fly, Microprose F19 and Falcon etc etc. All of these have been possible due to people like Tom and your good self as well as all those other developers out there. Today is a sad day, We have lost Tom but i prefer to look at what has been achieved. To still have the same enthusiasm for a hobby 30yrs later is a tribute to everyone involved. I thank Tom, all of you at PMDG and everyone else who has pushed my hobby to the max. And if he is up there looking down i'd expect he will still be criticising and working hard to make it right. If there is an afterlife we will all get there one day and Rob, maybe you will get the chance to duel with your old friend again. Darren Toogood
