Carenado Mooney Update

As @Ron Attwood said, UNTIL the sim is fully developed, and the SDK robust and stable, it is what it is.  That said, @Carenado needs to get its act together, and respond in a TIMELY manner so that people who have spent money with them, do not get left out in the cold.  They should be part of each internal beta (I hope) but even if not, a few days should have things sorted.  Then, MS/Asobo should prioritize getting those updates into MSFSMP so that they too are assisting in customer care.  That is NOT THE CASE at the moment.

It will be SEVERAL MONTHS before the sim begins to approach a stable state... the better each COMMERCIAL vendor can take care of its customers, the more this sim will flourish.  After all, they can take a lesson from @kaosfere and the Working Title Team, @robert young, the FBW A320 Team and so many more FREEWARE DEVELOPERS that burn the midnight oil to take care of their "user base" without pecuniary privilege.

So well stated my friend!

Regardless of where the Twister® pointer stops when each MSFS update flicks it, deciding which add-ons break, and which don't, is all still part of the "Wild West" moniker I've batting around in various threads.

It can't be denied at this point that the sim was not fully baked at release (heck...nobody disagrees with that), even still, this is one aspect should have been more stable....when you present a "Marketplace" to a huge audience, who will be paying you (and the vendor) their money...they are kinda' relying on you to get it right.  With that said....this is where I inject this poignant video (The ants being Asobo if that's not obvious):

Now...with "Flick" in this scene representing Carenado, there is also a burden of responsibility as it was his "idea" that got them in trouble.

The only end result we simmers Carenado about is a working plane.  Both the Princess ant and Flick need to (and do in the end) work together to come up with a resolution.

Let's just say that us simmers are "the bird" in this movie (the real one), and waiting to "consume" whatever "bugs" (ooohhh....bad analogy) come from the Princess and Flick....hehe...I crack myself up with how this video, the more I watch it, is a mirror of what we're experiences with the rift between AS and Carenado (and probably all commercial devs).

It is taking weeks for MS/Asobo to push third party updates onto the Marketplace (as we have seen with some airport updates)

By the time a fix is ready to get pushed, there might be a new update that breaks more things.

It's a lose-lose at this point.  MS/Asobo has to deal with this.  I doubt they will, we pay for the nice meal and get whatever table scraps and half baked word not allowed they give us.

Carenado just posted on Facebook on the next steps for fixing the issues that happened after the last patch...

“Hi again everybody....

We have been in contact with Asobo and looks like problems with our aircraft after the last update were due to an issue with the simulator. They are working on it and will patch it in the next days.
We will wait until the next update to test our aircraft before working in a new version of them....”

If I'm reading this correctly, Asobo won't fix the 182 or Mooney until after the next FS2020 patch?

When is that going to happen? Could be weeks right?

its also quite concerning that you can go right now to the marketplace, and purchase a plane thats not going to work. And if you dont hang around forums, there is no one telling you its not gonna work.

Exactly right!   A"quick buck" 3DP for a "quick buck" sim.  How much clearer could it be?

At this point I don't care whether it is incompetence or dishonesty on the part of MS/Asobo  and Carenado--if we don't know what to expect in the future--we have not been paying attention.

The ambiguity and lack of a clear message is either coincidental, or masterfully crafted to deflect blame & responsibility.

Either way...you (and everyone else) is rightly confused, and can only speculate if Carenado "knows" there is another "sub-patch" to patch the patch...to resolve the issue...then Carenado wipes their hands of responsibility for previous package(s) support, and moves on to their real interest (and as we can only speculate...but based on near future events)...getting the Seminole out the door to make more money.😉

Because in this case Carenado isn't to blame but Asobo, with there latest released patch and they are working on a hotfix again.

It still doesn’t explain why the mods are updated in hours and Carenado can’t do the same.

Yes Asobo is to blame for the add ons not working but Asobo is also breaking the mods and they’re fixed in hours.

Why cannot Carenado, which have a financial interest, update as quickly?

Microsoft/Asobo have an approval and release process for updates to things on the Marketplace, which has taken weeks in some instances to push updates (airport scenery).

Even if Carenado had an update ready today, they couldn't fix things as quickly as the free mod makers can because of the restrictive Marketplace process.

This is a great argument for never buying anything from the MSFS Marketplace (because other channels have more freedom to the updates), which will kill the sim really quickly if everyone buys their 3DP stuff from other sources where Microsoft doesn't get a cut.

Yes, and the process is untenable... I stand by my earlier post on this issue.

Which proves my initial point about being on the fence about buying the Mooney and it seems any other product  (REX weather anyone) offered until the sim is well matured!

So yea, @Carenado its not funny anymore. Fix the word not allowed plane i bought, nearly half the price of the sims itself. Maybe its hard to fix, maybe its easy, i dont care. I paid for a plane that had bugs from day one, but thats fine, i could live with them, but know, i cant even fly it without CTD. Probably Asobos fault, maybe yours, maybe both, again, dont care.

And at the very least, pull it out of the marketplace. You KNOW its broken, you KNOW it causes CTDs since the last patch, but you'r still selling it. Taking money of people, for a product that dont work, without even telling them that they'r gonna have to wait until the next patch to be able to use it, is basically stealing. Stealing peoples money in 2020 is bad figure, given the context.

Yes the Mooney is incredible, when it flies. Right now, its a worthless piece of junk. and a quick reminder, thats what your website says

"We as Carenado now can only solve developing issues, like if something is not working ok on the aircraft, or a bad texture or sound, but for installation or sales or refunds you should contact them."

Sorry for the rant, i never rant.

Mine is still working. As longs as I use the scroll wheel on the mouse and not the left button to turn the knob, no CTDs. I can't disable the yoke, rudder goes out of wack sometimes, can't use the mouse to bring down flaps, and other issues, but I still fly it daily.

MSFS

Or get an Arduino and program up some buttons and encoders in Mobiflight - perfect control of heading etc without resorting to mouse.  More realistic, and let's me keep flying fav plane until its all fixed.

I dont know how you do it, i still get runaway knobs, no matter hiw careful i am. It seems that everything is interconnected like a big pile of spaghettis. I even read some people were only getting the runaway knobs if their transponder codes began with a 7...and of course, if you try to stop it with a click, CTD. Its not really a showstopper if it happens to the second heading indicator (the nav2 one),  but if it happens to the baro or the hsi, your pretty much done with your flight.

Is there like steps you take to prevent them, other than not cliking the knobs!? (wich i never do).

I used to fly it daily, its my chosen plane on my round the world trip, but i just cant waste 2 hours of flying not knowing if i'll reach my desktop instead of my intended destination.

I got the runaway VOR gauges when I tried to use the flps with the mouse when FSUIPC stopped working.

I just start with ready to fly and go do some flying. I use external controllers to control the plane and try not to use the mouse buttons. The wheel works fine. The AP seems out of wack too. I guess I'm lucky right now.

Im with you on this one. I admit i refrained to criticize asobo, ms, carenado a lot, because i can see we have a beautiful thing in our hands, with an amazing potential. But im also getting tired of this, lost my job due to Covid, so now every euro counts and i can now see why people got mad about it all. The part that makes me the most furious is that you can still purchade this plane, with no notice or heads up telling you that its basically broken. How something like that is possible given the context. Its at least abad taste, and borderline theft.
