Just to confirm, am I right in thinking the only improvement in the  GPS units is that that we can now adjust the brightness? Dear god.

But look at that brightness, it's awesome

Hah yeah, I bet it's way better than the brightness the WT guys modded in in 48 hours! 😄

Easy Brother - we're all angry. You're not alone.

All downloaded and working OK as far as I can see.  Strange thing is after every update my internet starts running very slow and I've had to reboot the router each time. BT (Bloody Terrible) Home Hub 50 GiB dl speed (on a good day).

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

Umm, interesting.

Could you take a screen shot of that folder structure post Update to show how they've done that - I'm not in the Sim at present and haven't D/L the Update, but I'd be interested to see the conflict.

It's not so much of a conflict, per say.

It's simply that our add-on (as well as all other add-ons) use a .json (JavaScript Object Notation) file in order to instruct the simulator which files to use.

MSFS gives priority to add-ons in the Community folder and because these new contrail textures are not in our add-ons .json file, it resulted in this compatibility issue.

It's just a matter of adding the contrail texture file names to our add-on's .json file so that MSFS can properly recognize it.

What the.... I just started the sim and it updates to v1.13.17.0?! HAd been running the sim yesterday so I'm a little confused ...

Will check what  happens after that install

Edit: So did a reboot, still no change in Store or sim . But no problem, nothing that I need right now from update 3...

Just in case anyone else is experiencing the issue: using the repair function on the app solved the issue for me. Therafter store update was shown and ingame update as well possible

CPU: Ryzen 5800X3D not OC, MB: MSI Tomahawk B450, RAM: 32GB DDR 4 3600, GPU: Geforce 5070 Ti not OC, 2TB SDD, Res: 4K

Perfect description of our relationship with Asobo right now.

And if your kids are anything like my kids; playing the Disappointment Card just means they know they've got away with it.

What I'm really worried about right now is MS (big brass) is not holding Asobo to account right now. They're letting them run with it and see where it goes.

But they will. That's their job. And when they do - they'll pull the plug and Bang! there will go our Bing/ Photogrammetry Scenery and we'll be left with the Offline version with graphics that predate FS2004.

They've done it before. They'll do it again without hesitation if Asobo fail to make this spectacular.

This update has had a huge impact on my FPS, however, not one of you has mentioned this...

1. Is there any reason this would be / anything I can do?
2. Is there anyway to rollback to a previous version? I assume not.

Thanks,

Mike

Always make sure you check that before hitting the "update" button Manny...! Have a custom install location and almost stumbled into that too...

Not only that. The reason I think I messed up and so many others too is..the step to get updates are

1) Start with the store (the smaller update from that brings your version I tyink up to date)

2) and then click play from the store... would then tell you there is a larger update within MSFS.. click on Update.

In my case for reason when I went to the store.. it did not say I had an update. so I started the sim by itwelf and it told me I had the update for step 2. the larger one which I did. but the version still showed 1.3 x x not the 1.4. and I was having CTD galore even when using those MSFS training flights... and then I panicked and I did a windows restore to two days ago and that effed me up even more.. so I had to undo the restore  and reinstalled MSFS but this time pointed it to my D:\MSFS (customer folder) and it continued from where it left off and I think I am good now.. I am using the linker tool to restore my addons and started MSFS and doing my first flight KIAH - KDFW on the 737. It looks ok.. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Moral of the story. When something doesn't work as expected ..DON't PANIC. GO TAKE A SHOWER, Make yourself a coffee. and come back and do things by being calm and by taking intermittent backups. 🙂

Mike, I had this massive performance hit on the last update (not this one, as mine hasn't downloaded yet).

I had to 'restart' my computer and that cleared it.

'Reatart' W10, not shut down and reboot, as since last summer, W10 can reload some old data from a hibernate file believe it or not, and that might not flush out the old code causing the problem.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Disappointing, but have come to expect that with Asobo. 🤷‍♂️

How many people are working on this sim? Oh that's right, 200 🤣

Is there a criteria like min altitude for the contrail to appear? I am flying the 737, I don't see the contrail. Hmmm...

I think the contrails are only for default aircraft, not add-ons...

May all your landings be safe ones!

They normally kick in about 30,000 feet Manny. I believe that is what they call 'contrail height'.

Edit. Sorry, just saw about third part aircraft. I didn't know that. That's another bummer. Everything will need an update then!
