For people who are suffering performance Issue after Update3

My guess is the issue is related to scenery streaming from azure. If you turnoff the online part, you will be fine

There is no scenery there, it is a tiny dirt strip in the middle of nowhere.

People have literally turned everything off and gone down to the lowest settings and the issue still occurs.  In addition, what's the point of having MSFS 2020 if you have to turn everything off?

The more I turn off, the worse it gets...I actually had so much turned off my GPU was running at 5% utilization, and I was getting 6 fps. You can't make this stuff up.

Its clearly an screw-up from SimUpdate III.

Its got nothing to do with settings, PC specs or anything like that.

This patch made me a "grumpy old" man....
But now i've found a paradise in Bahamas where the sim works perfect, nice weather down there also, I feel much younger and smiling again.

I wonder why not all companies use Mac instead of Windows, my experience is that Mac is a much more stable system, my Windows computer requires constant tweaking to work optimally, my Macbook Pro laptop works year after year without the slightest problem.

Mac Laptops used more expensive drives and parts and you pay for the difference, but it's apples to oranges if comparing a $3k macbook to a $500 Win laptop back then. Now, it doesn't really matter as much, except for cooling and batteries and those same shortcuts they always take in cheaper laptops. There is really no notable difference when it comes to reliability between any OS, in the old days a smaller footprint made things more reliable, but today we have so much memory that the difference is nill. More about whatever you are using it on. Linux and Mac OS are slightly more reliable if you are talking leaving it on without a reboot, but people claiming one is reliable and another is not is nothing more a talking point. Everything is reliable at this point at the OS level anyhow.

Some people don't have anything better to do apparently.  Or it's the addiction desperation.  The sim ran beautifully for most prior to the update, now it's hosed, and it's all from the update and nothing to do with setttings.

I just did it as a test, didn't plan on flying with lowest settings because it looks like poopoo. Getting 15 FPS on Low when I used to get 35 FPS on Ultra means something is really really wrong and I'm done wasting time on it. I cant believe I wasted a whole 10 minutes on that tonight

They just need to stop pushing updates without a beta team. I mean all they need is 50 or so volunteers where they get the push first every time, and if it doesn't work right, don't give us an update. My feeling is that they are meeting the release dates for the updates at the cost of everything else, and it's starting to backfire. I just wanted to finish an airport, they keep introducing SDK bugs where I have to re-export buildings, so yah can be a bit more than an inconvenience for some. It's slowing developers down, and there are some weird issues in the 0.10.0 (even their versioning is unusual).

The previous SDK was 0.9.0. The new one is 0.10.0 (this is not correct arithmetic). Now we have a 0.01.10 and a 0.10.0, and eventually we will have a 1.010.00. I would have just used 0.9.1 since it was just a minor revision anyhow, but they got hung up on incrementing perfectly by +0.1 on every release (but who cares).

0.9.0 + 0.1 = 1.0, but i guess they were not confident enough to call it 1.0, so we have 0.10.0.

76T airport in Texas  brings me down to 5FPS and it stays there. Have to close the program.

I thought I was not seriously affected by the current performance bug, until I tried to load at 76T. It’s just a little rural grass strip in Decatur, TX with a couple of buildings, but it immediately brought my frame rate to 2 FPS, and GPU dropped to 6 percent. No CPU spike, and VRAM and RAM use did not change, but there is something wonky there that completely brings the sim to its knees. I was finally able to back out to the main menu to escape, but I thought for a moment that I would have to kill the MSFS process in the task manager.

I'm actually in this area for work, maybe I can go check it out in real life and see if any FPS issues... You never know...

You're absolutely right. Something at the core of the simulator has been broken.

Some people in the official forums are suggesting a memory leak, and they are backing it up through evidence. If you can consider screenshots evidence.

It would make sense though, as people are experiencing this already in the menus. For others it takes a few minutes of flying until it happens, and it sticks for about 60 seconds until it resolves itself.

I think it has to do with how the sim utilizes memory, GPU and CPU.

There was always a memory leak somewhat, but it didn't seem to matter that much. Memory is usually just wasted anyhow, unless it's GPU memory as that is more important.

I monitor performance with the perf applet in the Windows Game Bar. Since the UK update, I have noticed that the game uses more GPU VRAM than it used to - up to 85 percent on my 11GB GTX1080Ti. That is not of great concern, The VRAM is there to be used, and it’s a sign that graphics utilization of the GPU has increased, which is a good thing, as long as it does not use ALL the VRAM. In cruise, away from graphically complex airports, the VRAM typically recovers back to about 50 percent, so the memory is indeed being managed.

When I found myself stuck in the Twilight Zone at 76T airport, I did not see any increase in either VRAM or regular RAM, (but the GPU basically stopped working), so it was not an obvious memory leak, but other users have reported steadily increasing RAM consumption, so some kind of memory leak appears to be part of the overall problem in certain scenarios.

I too am having these frame drops and stuttering randomly, ill be flying along silky smooth then for no reason the CPU usage will rocket up and the fans will start to blast and often it does not recover, even in areas of minimal terrain it can happen, this only started for me after the last update, GPU usage is around 35 percent when all this is going on according to performance monitor, I have plenty of system ram and Video ram left on my 1080TI, very strange and annoying I have tried all settings but makes little to no difference
