For me, the question is not whether my pc is able to switch to Windows 11, it is why should I want to? Most of what I have read so far, in this thread and elsewhere, says I should not (in some cases emphatically). In regard to MSFS, isn't the question not whether it will run on Win 11, but whether it will run better than it does on Win 10? So far I have seen nothing to suggest that Win 11 offers any advantages whatsoever to flight simmers.

There is absolutely no difference whatsoever:

It always amazes me just how many people feel the need to upgrade stuff like this. It's the same with graphics card drivers. If Windows 10 will be supported until 2025, then Windows 11 is essentially an irrelevance until then.

I’ve done my best to read this thread and the accompanying one about W11 and MSF. I can’t, I fall asleep before the end. Is it normal 😈 ?

Windows 11 requires a microsoft account. I do not like that. I hope there will be an option to use Windows 11 without being tied down and linked to an account.

Hello Jim, I am always wary about downloading software from an unsigned source and with all respect to yourself, did a bit more digging before taking the plunge. After seeing the very same link in TechRadar telling you to ignore both Microsoft warnings, I went ahead. I am only mentioning this in case any others are put off by the two warnings, it simply works great, thank you.

A healthy skepticism of unknown, unsigned software is a good thing. Glad to see you did your own research before deciding to trust me.

One thing I'll mention is that I usually trust open source projects hosted on GitHub where the source code is included and available for scrutiny.

PS. I got the link to the GitHub page from thurrot.com, another site I trust.

I'm downloading the Windows 11 Preview from the Insider Program.

I'll tell you how Flight Simulator runs.

Where did you hear that? I'm sure just like Windows 10 you dont have to use a ms account. I use a gmail account and it doesnt have to be linked.  It will only be linked if you are an insider

https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/24/22548480/windows-11-home-internet-connection-set-up for Windows 11 Home (Although it could still be possible to bypass in some way) but it's not a requirement in Windows 11 Pro.

Thanks for posting that. There you go. I really hope this isn't the case either. That's a huge no no for me right there if that's a mandatory requirement.

I will pass. The features of rounded corners, having the taskbar at the bottom center, newsfeed in the start button, compatibility with Android apps and versatile window docking are not worth the headache with hardware requirements and the need to have a MS account (for the home version). Am I the only one who feels that the UI has been so optimized since Windows 7 that Microsoft doesn't know what else to improve and sells any little changes (like the centrally located taskbar) as something revolutionary?

This is truly just like every other Windows launch ever.

Step 1. I Don't need that! [Insert previous version is the best ever]

Step 2. MAH PRIVACY! Corporate can't tell me what I need in an OS! This is socialism! Or some other words that sound important!!!!!

Step 3. The aforementioned reluctantly move on having no choice

Rinse and repeat. This has been going on forever and you'd think more would see the trend and stop the moaning, complaining, and stupid rhetoric.. But nope.. Some things never change

Nope this is capitalism! Private business can set any kinds of rules they want because there is no government oversight 🙂
