I hope in future when those of us with issues that complain, the rest will leave the threads alone.  Those discussions were read by MS and are being addressed - fantastic!

Those response like " Mine is perfect, I have no problems at all" to someone posting that they are seeing something that is a problem, are well beyond useless.

I'm so happy to hear that they acknowledged the problems some of us have been seeing in SU5. This is definitely great news. If I came across as being harsh or judgmental towards the team at Asobo then I want to sincerely apologize. I always knew in my mind that I had faith in them. They are really trying hard and I can only imagine what a massive scale this project is and the amount of work that is involved. I'm not a programmer or developer but I can sympathize and only imagine what they have to deal with.

If anyone at Asobo is reading my message, my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am so grateful and appreciate your hard work and dedication in making this by far, the best flight sim ever. You guys rock on so many levels!

btw, has anyone submitted feedback regarding certain settings not being saved such as the following?

  1. Airport History (Under the World Map Screen)
  2. Plane Customization Screen
  3. Graphic Settings

How about a solid, issue free, fresh iteration of this product from the ground up instead of layers of updates and hotfixes?

So does this mean all those who flew back to xplane will now fly back to msfs?

If I have two cars and one is not working correctly, I will leave that at home and drive the other one to work.  I have three flight simulators, one of which wasn't working correctly, so I didn't fly that one as much as the other two.  Car has been to the garage, so I will drive it more.  The flight simulator looks like it will be working again, so I will fly it more.

If you want to use only one simulator, fine, but why the comment to others that fly more than one - it isn't a crime!

I looked through all of the messages and didn't see a couple of items (I may have missed them somewhere), so I went over to the MSFS forum and added these items:

* The TBM930, one of your best aircraft, has been basically unflyable since the last update (no throttle control - unable to transition feathering)

* Drone Camera: every time I switch to the drone view, the image has rotated vertically.  It seems to keep rotating a little clockwise as the minutes pass.  If enough time is allowed to elapse, it will rotate almost 180 degrees (as if, at first glance, the aircraft is diving into the ground)

There is a small but fine difference between acknowledging that there are bugs and giving Asobo time to fix them and creating 200+ cry posts in a forum like little children who had their lollies stolen by the grinch.

Well, your comment there is no different in tone - you use the phrase '200+ cry posts in a forum like little children who had their lollies stolen by the grinch.'  People raised concerns with the sim on a forum dedicated to that sim.  MS have now acknowledged the bugs were there.  Why does it worry you that people want to discuss the issues and see if there is a workaround?  If you are not interested, don't go into the threads.

The main problem I saw were people responding negatively to those with issues.  One poster called us 'delusional'.  I hope that poster, and others like him, will reflect on their attitude now our concerns have been shown to be real by none other than the developers themselves.

Alright, I'm not going to read through 14 pages made in two hours with people fighting each other (even though we now have proof that Asobo didn't mean to permanently dumb-down the PC version, and that there were visual regressions despite many insisting there weren't any), but for those who are concerned about performance after the fixes:

  • The solution for the LOD popping specifically mentions a "new option that will allow you to customize how much off-screen scenery will be cached". This means it's optional, and it's clearly meant for those whose systems are equipped with higher RAM amounts. It also likely means that off-screen scenery will just stay in memory, which may impact CPU performance very little or not at all.
  • The increased LOD at higher altitudes shouldn't greatly decrease performance. Sebastian clearly said in a much older Q&A (I think the second or the third one) that this fix would be easy and not impact performance much. It may also be optional too. Better late than never I guess.
  • The corrected exposure for SDR displays shouldn't impact performance at all.

Hopefully the next fixes (hot fix and WU6) will get the sim back on track so it can start moving forward again, but it would be really great to look at how to avoid such a poor patch in future.

The beta program is a good idea but if it's ineptly handled with testers given little or no information or direction and then not listened to when the do report something with releasing on a specific date considered more important than releasing working software we WILL all end up in this position again

Are you using a controller to operate the drone camera? If so, check your "sensitivity" settings for that controller. My guess is that the axis controlling the roll is not centering completely causing the camera to slowly drift. Should be able to fix it by increasing the dead zone a bit. I think there is another setting there that will move the virtual axis center as well.

Hope that helps,

Doesn't it feel like we are living in a 35 year old multi-story housing complex and constantly meeting with the management about emerging structural issues and needed repairs?  And then seeing the issues patched?

It is a pretty far fetched analogy, it was meant to outline the "Us vs Them" mentality, the people enjoying fine with the Sim vs the people wanting improvements. I personally wouldn't have been set off into critic mode had it not been for the dev mode issues (they are far worse and more serious than the regular gameplay issues). It was the combination effect of so many issues in one patch from all sides of the game (Dev, CTD, Visuals, Bandwidth, etc...).

Correct, up to SU4 it was mainly LOD that needed fixing.  SU5 was such a disaster, it needed plenty of discussion to get the issues raised.

Multiple calm and collective bug reports with full details would have gotten the same results. No uproar needed.

No controller - just standard keyboard controls.

Now, the only other possibility I can think of is that SU5 screwed up one of my joystick/throttle assignments and applied it to the drone without my knowledge?  I've already had a case where a joystick slider was improperly assigned to the throttle for one aircraft by the update - it's almost as if a portion of the assignments reverted to default settings (but not all of them).
