I think there's more truth in this than some people will realise.

Anything is possible if you judge it by the same standards of how many large companies operate, but it's speculation regardless. Bunches of examples you could use from how Apple handles things, but I won't bother making the correlation. It doesn't make sense to cripple it intentionally though, just more by the way of collateral damage.

The more I think about it, the more I've come to believe that the issues are not intentional but a result of bugs and poor quality control. It seems that they are proud of the product that they have produced and would not want to intentionally downgrade it's quality.

Now, that doesn't mean that Microsoft didn't order them to push out an unfinished product a year ago or that this update wasn't rushed as well. There must be a lot more behind the scenes about the interaction between Microsoft and Asobo that we just don't know about.

I worked for about 5 years for a very large Electronics company headquartered in Japan. We would get calls from our commercial customers in the US, stating problems they were having with our equipment, many of the problems all exactly the same. I would contact the engineers in Japan who were responsible for that product, and they would at first deny there was any problem, saying they had no other reports of similar issues. Then I would call the West Coast and talk to the person there that had my job for that region, and he would tell me that he had reported the exact same problem to Japan weeks ago. So I quickly learned that the first response was always denial. Then when hammered with repeated complaints, they would eventually admit there was a problem and start working on a fix. Many large companies do the same thing, take a look at Boeing recently.

A company like Microsoft probably has the attitude when they talk to a vendor, like, we need this done yesterday.

There is no way that Asobo / Microsoft would admit to downgrading PC graphics to Xbox levels, so yeah, it's bugs, honest.

Looks like the tinfoil hats are making a comeback. Go ahead and have your fun.

You would have thought Asobo switched off the sun or something. Calls ranged from ASOBO DELETE THIS UPDATE IMMEDIATELY to deranged claims of PC PLAYERS ARE THE MASTER RACE

Some of the gems I saw from those having a bad time on these very forums were actually or substantially: 'You're gaslighting us', 'This is like 1984', 'Microsoft / Asobo are acting like communist dictators', 'People saying they aren't having any problems should word not allowed off'.

We've all seen some drama from those unhappy with previous patch changes but wow, this time they really went to town.

btw, has anyone submitted feedback regarding certain settings not being saved such as the following?

  1. Airport History (Under the World Map Screen)
  2. Plane Customization Screen
  3. Graphic Settings

Hope these can be added as well:

4. Inoperable trim in some aircraft

5. controller profiles not being correctly saved

6. Expand/collapse UI controls in the control options menu no longer work

7. Loss of bush trip completion history

What bothers me is the way some attack MS/ASOBO or Apple or Laminar or whatever, when an update comes out.

It makes sense to report bugs and problems with graphics etc. And of course CDT's or slow upgrades.

But why attack the company and throw out conspiracy theories about how they probably will just abandon PC users or the sim altogether?

I personally don't think the squeaky wheel gets the grease faster.

I have been in business in a few different fields over the years and I always develop an "A-list" those are for  hard to work with clients and they do get special treatment. Higher prices and lower priority. They are always a small minority, but make a lot of noice.

All these companies rely on their customers being happy, yes even giants like MS. My theory is treat all like you want to be treated yourself. If I take a mistake, I don't mind someone pointing it out so I can make it right as long as they are civil. I am much more likely to respond to valid points when presented politely.

I know it is probably hopeless to ask posters here to be more thoughtful in their posts. But I feel I have to write this anyway.

My way of dealing with U5 was to report a few problems I have, same with the new Husky. But I did not insult ASOBO/MS with name calling and conspiracy theories. I then proceeded to explore the differences and change some settings and I had to redo some of my Alpha and Bravo profiles. I kept flying with what worked and soon it will all be back stable again I am sure. And better than ever.

OK time for another cup of Java and then a flight with the husky in Ireland I think on floats, landing on the lakes and rivers that I fished in years past. I have flown a Rockwell Commander in Ireland and it really is a wonderful scenic experience in real life and in FS2020.

There's seems to be something very privileged about flight sim developers. I've noticed it with Myer of LR and now with Asobo. They seem to accrue an almost religiously loyal following to the point where they are beyond criticism and given nothing but praise and understanding regardless of their failures. Doesn't wash with me I'm afraid. If I was offered an upgrade to my cars mapping by its manufacturer because they wanted to unify the software with other models but when I got it back it's performance was degraded I'm afraid that they would get no patience and understanding from me! Not exactly the same but you take the point.

anyone had the scrolling world map bug - which makes it impossible to click on an airport and select Departure etc?

You can sometimes tell when certain Avsimmers only play flight sims on their PCs. Nothing wrong with that at all but it can lead to them putting their ignorance of the gaming industry on full display. I remember when the PS4 version of World of Tanks looked vastly superior to the PC version which was already out for years. The work that dev did on the console version forced efficiency that led to better visuals and performance. Today, the PC version has benefited from all of these improvements, got the visual upgrades and is now once again the best looking version out there.

I wish some people would stop ignoring all of the evidence we have that flies in the face of the conspiracy theories being spouted. Some of you seem to have a PC master race complex but it doesn't look like you guys have 3 games on your hard drives.

So your argument is that something that is known to happen in every forum in existence, has even been studied by social scientists and psychologists to the point of ad-nauseum, has never happened in this forum. I can be pretty argumentative myself, so I'll look past certain blunders, but don't push it 🙂

The X-box S (from my understanding) is about like an RTX 2060

The Series S GPU is actually rather equivalent to the GTX 1650 Super, or the RX 5500 XT. With only 8GB of shared RAM available for games (2GB reserved for the OS) it is very restrictive, more than the One X in these respects.

It's really no wonder that it almost feels like the simulator has a 6GB RAM usage cap right now. I won't be surprised if the Series X benefits from next update's changes too.

I know nothing about Xboxes. Sorry for the mistake, I am sure I am mixed up the different versions of which is what.
