Is your wallet prepared?

Featured Replies

Looks like both PMDG 737 and Fenix A320 will be entering beta testing in a few weeks (coincidence with MSFS anniversary?) and both of them are regarded as or anticipated to set the highest standard for Airbus and Boeing airliners in MSFS or even in the flight sim history. Is your wallet or left kidney prepared for the unavoidable sacrifice for the upcoming releases?

Right now about 75% of the development team's workflow is dedicated to getting the 737 into testing. We had originally planned to put the 737 into the hands of our beta team around 01AUG, but that timeline went up in flames when we learned through a blog-post that Microsoft had their Performance Plus update coming for the base platform. The new update sort of threw things into chaos around here and we haven't made the sort of progress we had anticipated in July- but we are beginning to see forward progress on 737 once again and I am just itching to begin the preview process. Not much longer for that now!

I will wrap this post up by saying I know this has been a very, very brief update – but the team is hard at work for a very good reason. We expect the Fenix A320 to enter beta in a few short weeks. The push is on.

Had PMDG 737 in P3D and once I got the FMS down, I kind of grew out of it. I think the DC6 will be my airliner of choice now.

My wallet is prepared for the Fenix. Can’t wait. I’ve been using the FBW a320 extensively since day 1 and now looking to push on to study level.

My wallet is safe. No use buying aircraft for a sim that crashes 9 out of 10 flights. 😂

Certainly expect the state of the sim has quelled many sales and developers must be feeling it.  Also expect that previously announced products may be in a holding pattern, though likely not running out of fuel yet.  Bet it is not fun to continue expending resources toward new product release only to find the need to pour fresh resources back in almost monthly.

Yes Indeed...in fact I'm waiting for the PMDG 777...I prefer long haulers..

But...let's get a stable Sim first

CPU: 7800X3D | RAM: 64GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo CL32 | Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4090 OC

Bank balance may not like it but they are both getting bagged asap.

If the 737 is listed at double the price of the Airbus then I think simmers will have the right to be outraged, since by now we know how exacting in detail the A320 is.

I'll sell you my PC for a million dollars - it doesn't crash.

The difference is, while the Fenix A320 could be the most high fidelity airliner ever created for any sim, the Fenix A320 is still competing against the FBW A320 which is free.  You will have the ultra "hard core A320 simmers" who will buy the Fenix A320 at any price.  These simmers want the most detailed A320 available and will happily pay over $100 USD if that's what they need to pay, to get the Fenix A320.

Then you have simmers who are not so hard core into the A320, and are sitting on the fence between the Fenix A320 and the FBW A320.  This group wouldn't mind a more high fidelity A320, but they're not going to pay $100 to get it. If Fenix prices too high, this group of simmers will refuse to buy the Fenix A320 and will stick with the FBW A320.

PMDG doesn't have a freeware decent 737 competing against it in MSFS. That's a huge advantage for PMDG and they know it.  So even the "not so hard core 737 simmers" may be persuaded to pay for a higher priced 737, because there isn't a FBW equivalent of the 737 in MSFS.

At some point preserving the stability of the sim and not breaking every addon with a mandatory update every other month has got to become a higher priority. If that means spreading updates out to one every 6 months I’m onboard.

I don’t believe asobo understands how soul crushing it is for a sim to crash in the middle of a flight or near the end.
