September 7, 20214 yr So what is being hammerd by this feature ? The CPU, GPU, RAM ? MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28
September 7, 20214 yr As far as I can tell even with the pre terrain caching set to ultra, maximum used system memory was 9GB and 7GB for GPU?? Shouldn't it use more than that? I was testing this out taking off from KSFO during day and evenings in the C172 G1000. Anyways, the setting works beautifully and no more pop-ins at all when panning around. September 7, 20214 yr So would this setting at High or Ultra cause the FPS and stutter issues we saw prior to SU5? I figured this was how they gave us that extra performance but maybe they optimized other things as well...? I'm just flying around central London in my Warrior which gave me occasional little blips before - it has honestly never looked so good and felt so smooth. This is much better than pre SU5 for me. September 7, 20214 yr After reading through this I'm excited to get home and test the update. It's been kind of a shame having a powerful GPU and only having high FPS and smoothness when looking forward. It's been a choppy mess with TrackIR. 9800X3D | 5090 | 64GB DDR5 | LG C2 42"
September 7, 20214 yr Ultra with the 3080Ti, We are back to smooth FPS. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
September 7, 20214 yr where do you get the update? when I boot up msfs it says update available through the store, I goto store check updates and I don't see anything then rinse and repeat. Ciao!
September 7, 20214 yr My initial observations: Ultra on everything, Pre-Cache Ultra, 200/200 LOD, 100 Resolution Scaling, 3440x1440 90 Hz G-Sync On, Hardware-Acc GPU Scheduling On, Game Mode Off, V-Sync Off FPS starts slightly lower than pre WU6, but FPS increases when the scenery gets loaded into memory. When airborne, smooth FPS when looking around with TrackIR. Super smooth. Really smooth. It's a joy being able to look around and expect things to look like they did the last time you looked in that direction. 😍 I've flown over Miami and New York City so far, and performance is really good. About 65 fps. Default 200/200 LOD is much better than before WU6, but trees are not as good as 350/350 was pre WU6. Will have to experiment with this. VRAM usage is up from about 6.6 GB to around 8.6 GB on my card. System memory usage is around 12 GB, the same as pre WU6. 👍 Edited September 7, 20214 yr by Republic3D AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S
