UK2000 will no longer make scenery for P3D

***Update on P3D development***

We have had a lot of users asking lately about development of sceneries for P3D. So we will get straight to the point, there will be no more P3D products, *until* a new major update is released by LM with a better graphics engine.
The main points for our decsion are:
1) There is not enough profit in P3D products compared to MSFS. MSFS sceneries can be developed faster, with more features, meaning we can release more sceneries than previously with P3D. Plus with MSFS having a Marketplace, there is from sales there as well, from customers on different gaming platforms. So our sceneries have a further reach with MSFS.
2) As an artist the current P3D engine is horrible, with a bad SDK, no in game tools and full of legacy FSX bugs, it's miles behind MSFS. Meaning it is not fun to develop for and continues to cause bug related issues for us during and even after release, as the simulator reacts different on other users computers.
3) 80% of our support for P3D has nothing to do with our scenery itself, it is either their sim, SODE or it is a GSX issue. We don't get any of those issues with MSFS. Yes MSFS has its issues, but it doesn't result in users thinking it's a issue with our products.
In summary, yes P3D development has stopped, BUT we will continue development once LM has released an update to the graphics engine, allowing for scenery development with less bugs and issues.
We know this isn't the news most people want to hear, but please remember we are a business and we need to put the business needs first. Also, please feel free to unfollow or leave a comment saying you disagree, the choice is entirely up to you, but please remember to keep your comments PG and not get abusive towards us please, we are people too.

This. Who is going to tell them that they will face this problem in MSFS, too and maybe even more complicated than in P3D? One way or another, something like this will likely be implemented in the future. As of now, we barely have any ground handling or jetway control (apart from the kinda CTRL + J)

Goodbye and don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

I think points 1 and 2 are reasons enough. No profit and UK2000 doesn't think it's fun to develop for this platform.

You do realize that if LM addressed his concerns about scenery development in P3D (and he isn't the only dev with these issues), that you would directly benefit?

too be honest IMHO UK2000 looks really dated now anyway in V5 please dont take offence Gary, . i have loads of their scenery and have been generally very happy it. But for some time  iam slowly replacing it with airports that are more upto date

ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's. OS  2TB 980 Pro , MSFS  2TB WD Black , Kington Fury 64GB ram ( 6000) Corsair RM1000 PSU, Artic Freezer iii 360 AIO  . Phanteks P600s Case ,TCL QM8B 50" 120 Hz  TV,second 24 inch screen for charts you tube etc, and 11" touch screen for the EFB. Warthog Stick and TCA Captains throttle ( full pack)  Velocity 1 Rudder Pedals , extreme3D for the Tiller,Streamdeck XL x2 / Streamdeck +/Streamdeck mini because i like pressing buttons

UK2000 scenery is soooooo dated now in P3D,there are more and better scenery developers still providing for that platform,so i wont miss your scenery, just continue to chase the £.

Don't really know why, but I feel a little stupid now, having bought a couple of sceneries from them lately (and many more over a longer time period)...

Best regards, Dimitrios

Why would you feel stupid? Do you feel the same if the car you bought last year goes out of production?

Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. Win 10 Home. 500g Samsung 960 as Windows home. 1 Gb Mushkin SSD for P3D. GTX 1080 8gb.

Well, I did say I didn't know why, didn't I? But I think it's more like the car company telling me they won't produce spare parts anymore, because they all of the sudden decided the car wasn't good enough anymore.

Best regards, Dimitrios

Well maybe if it was a new model I had bought and wasnt even a year old and there was no indication from the manufacturer they planned to end production.

Of course, for a product that's been on the market several years like many of Gary's products have, then my answer would be different.

I am a bit disappointed that the HD series he embarked upon has somewhat stalled because some of the airports need a makeover and brought up to date, but its Gary's business as to do as he pleases and right now MSFS is the biggest opportunity.

Well, since P3D allows you to stay on a specific version, if the UK2000 scenery product says it's for version 5.0 for example, then they are only obligated to support version 5.0. If it says it will support version 5.x, then they need to support all version 5.x of P3D.  If the product says it will support all versions of 5.x and any future versions of P3D beyond that, then they need to support whatever version in the purchase terms they laid out.

When I buy software for Windows 10, the software maker is not obligated to support Windows 11, or any future version of Windows, unless the purchase terms specifically state that.  Most software you buy probably won't specify that they will support whatever version of Windows comes out in the future, but will only support that current version of Windows.

So IMO, I don't think it's comparable to a car company that won't produce spare parts anymore.

Uk2000 is so much FS2004/FSX stuff that I'm not sure whether I should I laugh or cry reading their statement. Good luck and good riddance.
