considering the TwinOtter is half baked and the CRJ isnt exactly incredible Im not all that excited about anything aerosoft is gonna do TBH.

I've said before, and will probably say again; of the various types of people attracted to flight simulation, I think there include at least two types.

Those who seem to wish to be actual pilots, with all the accompanying minutia that this implies, and on the other hand, (what I suspect are the vast majority) those of the type who flock to the air and space museum in their multitudes, having a strong enough regard for aviation to be excited by something like MSFS, while having little to no interest at all in devoting the scarce time and attention necessary to become a "hardcore" desktop pilot.

They simply wish to pretend to be pilots, casually and at their leisure, every once in a while.

In their countless numbers, they very likely represent an irresistible target for the various third parties, tired of living on a niche subsistence income, when MSFS has laid a veritable feast of possible customers at their feet.

Bought one of their Airbuses for P3D years ago, flew it about 4 times, and that was enough.

I was surprised by this move. Personally, I found his take on the market to be a little weird and how he thinks study level airplanes won't sell that well. Also, we really don't need another A320. I would like to see them add more features to the CRJ and Twotter before they even consider anything else. 

The only reason airliners wouldn't sell well (although I don't buy this) is someone (Asobo) needs to figure out the AI problem.  Flying a 777 from KATL to Heathrow only to find default airlines or airlines that shouldn't be in England or worse default is a killer for realism.  We never had this problem before in FS going back to FS2002.  Currently it's better to fly GA or corporate as you don't see what a mess AI traffic is in the sim right now.

Speaking of weird marketing takes I remember PMDG killing the MD11 citing sales when they should have released the 737 first.  People actually liked the MD11 but it would have made more since to put out what people were requesting versus a lesser appreciated airframe.  People hungry for more will always buy and the MD11 could have came afterward and sold very well.  So some of these decisions make absolutely no sense at times.

Everyone is entitled to their views, and I respect that. I speak as I find, that's all I can do. Years ago when I first started to buy Aerosoft products online, my internet started to act up while purchasing the said Aerosoft products, and I ended up buying two of everything as the first purchase didn't finalise until after I'd already bought the products by accident. I never thought I'd get my money back, but I contacted Mathijs, explained my problem, and he kindly agreed to sort the problem out. First impressions count, there has been other occasions where he has helped me out with any issues that I had, so obliviously why would I dislike him when he has helped me in the past?

I apologise for thinking that he was German, when he's actually Dutch, as an Englishman I find it difficult to tell the difference between the Dutch and German languages.

Why did they bother asking? Looks like they had already settled on another A320. 

One thing they could do that would drastically help their sales is integrate the default flight planner and nav system from MSFS. A lot of people (like me) are holding off the CRJ because they don't want to subscribe to a third party service that will basically make no difference in the way we sim, or have to use external flight planner combined with the internal one for ATC. This would also open the market to consoles user more efficiently in my opinion.

Here again is demonstrated the stubbornness of developers to keep making the same thing others are making over and over and over and over and over and over.

This is the reason P3D is now dry of new life. Developers seem to think I only want to fly Airbus A320 family again and again. 
 

You know what would make them a killing. Making the EJet series. But no. They have to keep making the Airbuses. 
 

They could literally pick up a Boeing product and ID be happier. How about perhaps. 767 Family. Do something like INIBUILDS did for XPlane with the A300. Literally for the next 4 years a whole new market could be made and they’d make a killing. 
I feel sometimes that the “old timers” lack vision and focus on the “legacy customer base” and what they have bought before. Instead. They would be making something new. Something ground breaking. Something no one saw coming. 
 

  

Sounds like a decision that’ll only snowball to the demise of the company.

There's a much more complex, feature-rich A320 on the way from Fenix that *a lot* of flight simmers are interested in, then there's a good freeware A32N from FBW. 

An Aerosoft A320 is neither going to be detailed enough for anyone used to FSLabs, FlightFactor or ToLiss Airbuses, nor as cheap as the FBW to compete on price.

 Good luck to Aerosoft if that's their aim, I really don't think that a casual user is going to pay $40-$60 for a middle-of-the-road A320. 

The CRJ, DC-6 and Bredok 737 did so well sales-wise because there was huge latent demand for a payware airliner and no alternatives for the more interested/dedicated flight simmer. Once the PMDG 737 releases for MSFS (an add-on that will be available on Xbox), that scenario no longer exists, and the market will split predominantly into freeware users or high quality payware buyers. The large numbers of FSLabs and PMDG purchasers, and Zibo 737 mod users would appear to suggest that this is likely.

 People seem to forget that the MSFS default A320 is also a competitor in the casual flight simmer market, as it's 'free'!
All a developer like Bredok needs to do is develop a low price alternative A320 and suddenly the market Aerosoft is apparently targetting is gone.

In the flight sim market, the paradigm is either go dirt cheap, go for quality, or go home.
