News: Aerosoft’s A330 for MSFS nearing completion

Featured Replies

A problem for the Aerosoft A330 might be that many customers will compare it to the Fenix and the FBW A320, because the systems are more or less identical and everyone will see the shortcomings almost at first glance. I am sort of looking forward to it but if it isn't able to do reliable LNAV/VNAV and RNAV approaches or hopefully VOR/DME circles and go-arounds, I am not going to buy it.

Correction: not the systems are almost identical but the way the cockpit works.

XP12 isn’t a game

XP12, MSFS, P3D are all games in "sim" genre! Spin it as you wish but if you can't log your hours for training or proficiency (IRL) its a  game. On the other hand, you can use game ( in sim genre) as RL training/proficiency aid.  But also keep in mind that "paper airplane" also can be considered as aid

Nice, another soon-to-be-abandoned product with mediocre, immature features and bugs that will annoy even the most casual flight simmers sooner or later.

I tried the XP 12 demo.  XP 12 is like a decade in technology behind MSFS.  The rendering engine for XP 12 is horrible, I could not even get near the FPS that I get for MSFS.  MSFS also has frame generation now for NVidia 4000 cards, giving NVidia 4000 users even more FPS and a smoother experience.

And here I thought this thread would devolve into anti-Aerosoft.  Instead it devolved into my sim vs your sim.  Didn’t see that coming.

Strange bunch.   So much hate for a product not yet released.  How many threads are there whining for a long haul payware? Aerosoft is not super high level and its not marketed as such, but its certainly no word not allowed-tain sim with fake cockpit and default systems with extra pay for liveries.  I expect it to be half decent given the time its taken and from previews.  Also dont expect perfection from ver 1.0   and from Aerosofts history, not quite abandonware. There is a number of updates after their releases.   Lets not get carried away.

If we carry on like this, why the heck would developers have incentive to produce aircraft we want?

Really needs to be a "study level" aircraft like the pmdg or fenix before I'd spend more than 30 bucks on it.. I think they'd be a lot better off and make more money in the long run if they were to make it that way.

Why would they have incentive?  Because if they develop the product that many of us simmers are interested in they will make more money in the long run.  I think today's society is just about a quick buck off this or that...  I like what another poster said about not wanting to be abandoned with no support or updates after a couple months go by.

It also devolved into "is it a game or a sim?". 😁

They’re all both.  They’re all flight sims which are a gaming genre 🙂

Aerosoft is essentially Carenado when it comes to airliners.  They look really good and are fairly fun and most of the standard things work (except the crj apparently lol).

There's a big market for this I think.  I've purchased a lot of Carenado stuff for msfs but it's because I love GA.  I will not be buying AS stuff.

Its a shame we can't have a Fenix like A330.  I think the Headwind project with FBW is probably better than this.  I was on a short flight yesterday from YUL to YYZ on Air Canada's A330.  Its just shocking how large this aircraft is when you are used to flying on A320's.  The size just never seems to translate to the sim, but still wish we had one.

Boy, I sure hope it's not just close to, but beyond a freeware project... please don't reward Aerosoft if it isn't.

LOL, give the FBW team more credit. The A32NX is miles ahead of most payware. No way will Aerosoft match the A32NX study level systems depth with their  A330 payware… especially when they upfront state that this won’t be study level because they don’t understand the term…..

IDK, I tried it for the first time in months and the MCDU's still aren't split. There's a lot of work to do if FBW's intention is to bring it up to Fenix's level, which is totally up to them since of course since it's free and they're volunteering their time. It's obviously a great piece of freeware but if Aerosoft can't clear that hurdle... yikes.

I had a lot of fun with their Airbus family in P3D. Didn't they have an interactive checklist system too? I wonder if they'll have that with the 330.
