Stuck on "Checking for updates..."

Featured Replies

So there it is....my first and ever problem with MSFS since it's launch <- yes, this is correct!

Last days I got plenty of "unable to sync" messages and it was always the XBOX Gaming App that logged me out. Looking in the Store Updates I saw the last days constant updates to the XBox gaming app and the Gaming services (just today again).

So now I have my first stuck on Checking for updates screen. Nothing helps....

Anybody else having this?

Message to Microsoft...you took the money now up your server capacity to provide the service so many paid for (all my other connectivity dependent stuff is doing fine)

  • For me that worked one time. But when the problem recurred next time it did not work. For me it seem more of a random event if we get stuck at checking for updates

Yes, I'm having it too.

Yep Im getting this today, waited about 10 mins...got fed up...buggered off to shed

P.S. I.m in UK just saying in case its a local server thinggy

What I find works is to force quit the sim and then reopen it. 100% of the time for me, it opens fully on the second go.

Had this the other day but after 10 minutes everything eventually loaded, I have heard that launching in administrator mode can cause this.

Specs: 11900K (5ghz), 64GB ram 3600mhz, RTX 3080 ti

For the record, for the last 2 days mine booted fine and didn't get stuck in searching for updates (I'm in the beta).

That's probably true for the computers at Asobo too. So they don't see the issue.

Happened to me a couple of days ago.  I suspected that it may have been something to do with having too many addons in my community folder, so I took a few out and it started up fine.

May have just been coincidence, but that was my suspicion.

This is an old problem, sometimes happens 2-3 days before a big update is coming. Last year I was not able to launch the sim for half a week because it was stuck in this endless loop, I even thought about deleting and reinstalling it - but on weekend I did another try to launch it and suddenly it was updating some big SU and ran fine afterwards like nothing was ever wrong 🙂

Happened to me yesterday. Restarted sim - same thing.  Rebooted PC - same thing.  Rebooted PC again and same thing again but I just left it 'Checking for Updates' and after about 10 to 15 mins it continued on with the remainder of the startup process.
