Stuck on "Checking for updates..."

Recommended Posts

I have had the same problem for many hours and the only solution for me, after it remains on "CHECKING FOR UPDATE", is to disconnect and then reconnect the WIFI connection.

The strange thing is that when I reconnect, the INSTALLATION MANAGER page appears and it's as if it wanted to reinstall everything but the text that appears says: 0/1.22TB and how do I do "CONTINUE" instead of installing the normal loading starts, only that the line at the bottom it advances to the end and at this point I have to disconnect and reconnect again and the page with WORLD MAP appears while MARKETPLACE tells me that it is UNAVAILABLE.

I took two flights and had no problems.

I'm also stuck on 'Checking for Updates' but after about 10/15 minutes it goes.

How ridiculous that in 2024 we have a game that takes this long to load. What a backward step we've taken.

Had it yesterday on my left view pc .Rebooting the pc did nothing. Tried it 3 times.

Signing out/in on both XBox Live and MS Store solved it for me.

I somehow believe it must be related to one of the last Win updates, which was a rather deep one...

Somehow what fixed it in my case and as I posted above was one of the suggestions in this thread that forced an NTP (Network Time Protocol) resync with the time servers.

After going in my Win 11 to Settings / Time & Language / Date & Time / Sync now the sim started working again...

This being said, I was already showing "privation symptoms" 🤣 when after reading this thread still at work, as I arrived home and fired the sim expecting to be able to make another great flight, I found myself trapped in that endless search for updates.... Fixed it thanks to one of the posts where the above fix was suggested, and went flying until almost falling asleep just entering the Marrakech STAR 🤣

I LOVE THIS SIM! even with it's quirks, and this one doesn't even look like being only it's fault...

did not sync date & time and access was possible today, yesterday no chance - stuck on "checking for updates". For me it seems to be a question of MS Server capabillity as usual, sometimes you can easily access, sometimes not, then there is this cryptical "checking for update" or black screen or other surprises... same procedure as the "bandwith too low" events. What do we have now: a sim which is starting or not, no T7, no PMDG or Fenix WX, excellent landscape and weather, unsolved AI traffic and ATC problems, lots of high quality aircraft and scenery addons. As earlier was mentioned here - a backup (offline) sim seems to be a good idea. Best regards

The... mysteries of MSFS 2020 included in the... purchase price!

After yesterday I could only use MSFS 2020 with the procedure previously described in my post, today "without having done anything", CHECKING FOR UPDATE appears for a fraction of a second and the startup occurs regularly.

But why is it necessary to "Checking for Updates" when there is no updates available? can't they just put in this option the same time they have updates ready for download.

Because you might not load the Sim for two months, so it needs to check for updates every time you load the Sim. Unfortunately it's a convoluted mess and something that has plagued the Sim since release, this particular issue has been more prevalent since SU15 and this week's server issues.

For me that worked one time. But when the problem recurred next time it did not work. For me it seem more of a random event if we get stuck at checking for updates

Neither the reset or rebooting helped here, but a windows update showed up so I applied it. All has been fine since then. Go figure!?
