Stuck on "Checking for updates..."

Pretty much happens to me nearly everytime I start the sim now. I don't have any map enhancement mods.

It does eventualy start MSFS but takes FOREVER.

This is such a major issue, surely MS /  Asobo must be looking to issue a patch now??

Message to Microsoft...you took the money now up your server capacity to provide the service so many paid for (all my other connectivity dependent stuff is doing fine)

  • For me that worked one time. But when the problem recurred next time it did not work. For me it seem more of a random event if we get stuck at checking for updates

This has now happened to me 3 times in the last few days - so something is going on.

Look like servers are under attack recently.

It's a show stopping issue absolutely.  I had no issues for the past many flights in the past few days until the update was applied today, now not able to get past Checking for Updates

Well looks like no flying this afternoon....This is now the 2nd major outage in less than a week - for an organization that is selling basically a cloud based service this really should be a wake up call that service is no longer reliable. Eventually this will impact FS 2024 if they cant be up 99.999% of the time

Same issue here as of 30 minutes ago.  Never experienced this issue until today.  I do not have any map enhancement added.  Pretty upsetting.

Sincerely,

This is utterly appalling. What a total amateur show from MS and Asobo.

Also getting this currently and none of my usual workarounds are working for the first time.
Quite irritated as I wanted to get a quick flight in before I leave for work tonight.

The issue was gone for a while for me. But now it is back again

Same here. I am able to load in the sim only by unplugging the network, then starting the sim, then waiting till it loads to the menu (which is mostly normal speed, except for the "Internet Connection Lost" warning) and then plugging the network back in.

Had this happen a few days ago. I eventually had to uninstall/reinstall the game. That worked. Now after this last small update today, not even reinstalling the game works.Don't know if it could be related, but have noticed an increase in micro stutters over the last 2 days.

So basically the sim is unplayable.

Is anyone managing to get it to load?

Unable to get sim to load lately. Gave up.

Mine's stuck on checking for updates again... F F S

I understand the occasional server outage for maintenance - but this is getting ridiculous.  May and June have been the most unstable months for MSFS servers.

Giving up for the night and hoping its fixed in the am.   I had no idea that apparently this has been happening off and on for the past 2 weeks.    Next weeks FSexpo is going to be interesting given this sudden huge drop in reliability.   You cant sell if your customers cant access your product.   It definitely makes my less likely to go into FS 2024 if this is the glimpse of the future.....

Agreed. While I mostly fly MSFS, I'm very glad I also have Xp12 and a few addons for times like this. Long may XP (and more generally, software that doesnt' depend on the "cloud") continue.
