They asked Madden to give a commentary on a kick off. He said, "Boom"!

Not everyone installs every world update, so it can be someting you only do once or twice a year. I'm at a certain age where I sometimes forget how to do unimportant things I only do every 6-12 months

  • I keep crossing my thumbs for people finally remembering this for good. After all it's only been the 17th one... 😁

  • My house looks like my house now and not a random town house as it was previously, right down to the recycling bin in the front yard and trampoline in the back garden which we got rid of 3 years ago b

No, I did not.

Well it looks great

World Update is not quite representative as most updates only cover US and EU 😃

Cache.

If you are flying where you used to fly in the UK before the WU then you may have cache that was created pre WU. Not necessarily the cache that you turn on in MSFS options, but there are other types of cache.

I noticed flying straight out London City Apt there were brief stutters every 20 seconds or so and fps was about 48. After I flew around for an hour or so and then tried the same flight again, stutters were gone and fps was 60 all the time. (I have 60 locked in NCP for MSFS). I bumped up the resolution even higher than my normal 1440p using DLSSR (which lets MSFS offer resolution choices above your monitor's native). And still got a locked 60, no stutters.

I presume the stutters and slightly low fps was due to some cache somewhere made before the WU. Which slowly got replaced with new cache.

Did you get and download the world update from the Marketplace? That's the first thing most people forget to do.

Yes I downloaded the new UK update from the Marketplace. Could someone else please confirm Edinburgh city centre actually got photogrammetry like the YouTube video shows? Meanwhile I will empty community folder, try safe mode and double check caches etc. Thank you.

Some little fps decrease also on my system in the same area. What files do you suggest to clean (or what procedures do you suggest?)

Thanks

haha i can do that too, but for this i wrote it down on paper to check if i have done everything needed.

now only store the paper in an easy to find place.

My house looks like my house now and not a random town house as it was previously, right down to the recycling bin in the front yard and trampoline in the back garden which we got rid of 3 years ago but still it's much better. My football teams training ground is also nicely detailed, might have to go land a chopper on the roof.

I don't use msfs rolling cache. So I just flew around for an hour or so and the cache just sort of got renewed.

There are folks who know more about this sort of thing than I

After watching that video I made the shortcuts to the DXCACHE and GLCACHE folders and then put those shortcuts into one folder. Along with a shortcut to DiskCleanup in the same folder.

And made this text note to myself:

1 Delete all files in the GL and DX folders,  using the shortcuts
2 Run diskcleanup from startbox and delete ONLY the shader cache
Done !

So it's just those 2 steps.

A good example here of the sandbanks around all the piers, jetties and bridges on the River Thames. Clearly visible. And yet the posts are all, ‘looks good’. What hope do we have if people don't even notice these things?

They finally fixed Isle of Man. No more garish green and purple ground textures! Very welcome.

A very good question I asked myself several times since release of MSFS. Add cloud variety, weather radar, snow coverage, tile issues, tile colour mismatches, idiotic AI behaviour, missing water physics to the endless list of half-baked stuff in MSFS not really gaining a lot of attention (considering the amount of votes in the official forums).

Even worse: I bet in two, maximal three weeks we have at least one little fix on flightsim.to that fixes those watermask issues of the river Thames in London. So WHY THE HECK is Asobo constantly unable to do so? I mean, as Asobo dev flying around Thames in the RC of this WU, can you really come to the conclusion that it is ok like that? I simply do not get why obviously so many people have little to no standards those times... /rant over.

Greetings, Chris
