  1. 1. Will you keep using MSFS 2020 for as long as it is supported ?

    • Yes, for sure - at least for as long as my addons are fully ported to 2024 and assuming I will like 2024 after getting hand-on experience...

I'm not too concerned about the immediate availability of existing 3rd party add-ons , as long as they arrive within a reasonable amount of time. It's not going to stop me uninstalling MSFS2020 once I'm happy with the default MSFS2024.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I imagine this didn't age well 😁. I haven't installed 24 yet and really see no reason to.  Despite assurances from so many folks on the Internet, it appears that not only will ALL of my add-ons n

  • Nope, zero reason. I reinstalled Windows few weeks ago and haven't even installed MSFS 2020 again and have no intentions of setting all that up again. Got a lot on my plate right now but happily just

  • I think you just have to look at how busy the FSX forum is here (even the FS9 forum for goodness sake) to see how some people like to cling on to what they know.

The only worry I have with 2024 is with the steaming, can those servers deliver and meet the demands during the busiest of periods - until I’m convinced they can 2020 will stay on my machine.

Same here. I'm skeptical that the servers will be able to handle and stream optimally. Then there are server issue/s that will undoubtedly bring a screeching halt to 2024.

We are in for a long road to get things working in 2024 so i expect to be using 2020 for many months afterwards.

When FSHud and the PMDG 737 work with MS2024, it's over I go!  I may try out some GA stuff with these new missions though in 2024, looks a HOOT.

Generally with MSFS it seemed good for GA first, and then the airliner stuff caught up.

Surely they would include an option to download or permanently cache areas of the sim for those with poor connections? Many rural areas of the UK still have less than 10 Mbps download speeds over copper telephone cables.

MSFS 2024 looks great. I'm going to wait for a little while to see how it's working out before buying it.

Still loving MSFS 2020.

Actually, you just owngoaled yourself into a stupid post by showing how little you care about flight simming and all the improvements 2024 bring, seems it's all about shallow visuals for you. Rest of us are looking forward to improvements in flight modelling, live traffic, weather, improved performance in going DX12 and improving multi-threading, world immersion, included charts, much improved physics and overall content. Not just how big of a visual upgrade they made.

Dude, why do you care so much about why this guy doesn't want to use MSFS 24?  Just relax... go enjoy your new sim.

I had the choice of purchasing MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 and I chose to purchase the older version for myself.  Probably more for the fact that as soon as I went to look at reviews on the MSFS 2024, the majority of the reviews were negative due to gameplay/server issues.  I figure, I'll get a ton of time out of the 2020 version, I won't know what I am missing compared to the new version and I can geek out next year when they've worked out all the bugs.

This is quite an interesting topic that has been resurrected. Wonder if opinions remains mostly the same?

Yes of course. Zero reason to migrate as of now. Time will tell.

No, 2020 is just a poor version of 2024 now. Worse visuals, weather, flight model, water etc. etc.

its just too big a step back in the areas that matter to me.

I have found 2020 has so improved here in the UK, and I only fly the FBW 320 I have no intention of purchasing 2024 any time soon. I cannot justify the expense.

When I was invited for the MSFS alpha, I uninstalled P3D almost right away to learn the new sim... In MSFS 2024 I started the training missions, but for my Fenix flights using MSFS 2020. Will keep it that way until I can do a flight with ATC, proper AI etc.
