October 1, 20241 yr FENIX, PMDG, GSX, AIG planes, PSXT/RT, FSHud, 70+ sceneries...once these goodies are ready for MSFS2024, I will switch. Plus, I'd rather wait for MSFS2024 to get its first critical patches. With this being said, I'm planning for March-April 2025. Also, new AMD chips will get better knowledge base for fine-tuning by this time. October 1, 20241 yr I think you just have to look at how busy the FSX forum is here (even the FS9 forum for goodness sake) to see how some people like to cling on to what they know. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

Your somewhat missing the point though in gaming in general, I get your point but there are other reasons and one of which is why people still clamour for old consoles, same way people drive old cars and planes..... I have every generation of XBOX and a Dreamcast for example and also a PS1 but its not set up... I'm a gaming geek, I don't just play MSFS, it did blow my mind when i got it 4 years ago or whatever it was, still does. If all you use is MSFS and have all the controls etc and you are basically living as virtual pilot then i guess jumping to the new one is worth it, i'm just saying for now i don't need it. October 1, 20241 yr I'll do the same thing I did with Prepar3D and X-Plane: immediately install the new version to give it a try, but keep the previous versions around just in case it turns out to be a dumpster fire. I might even consider keeping v2020 around awhile just in case some of my most favorite 3PD addons don't work immediately. In P3D that was always a (debilitating) factor. In X-Plane v12, the new/upgraded Defaults were good enough to keep me engaged, plus at least a handful of devs had v12 compatible updates out on Beta launch day. As long as v2024 works out of the box, I easily see me spending the vast majority of my time (initially) just exploring the new addons and missions and such. Will give the 3PDs a chance to catch up 🙂
October 1, 20241 yr I'll uninstall FS2020 but only after we've determined how add-ons can be transferred across to FS2024 using Addons Manager, or even if they can be. I'll be ever thankful to Microsobo and MSFS2020 for rekindling my love of flight sims. It's been a hugely enjoyable three years for me. Roll on 19th November - definitely a case of Christmas come early. 👍 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Thats a good question and I should have mentioned it in my original comment. Unfortunately that screenshot you see is with the MET active. I use it regularly. I was hoping it would pull back cleaned-up Bing imagery. If I recall correctly the AI tech (Azure) was supposed to remove the clouds and replace them with surrounding clear terrain the Azure would use a reference.

So basically MSFS2020 plus, and a very big plus for that matter. Of course you do no have to use the mission system, just as you do not have to do the challenges in MSFS2020. But all that has also a price: At least investments in advanced Hardware (new GPU in my case) and the Software itself (and costs for Addon updates). Rest of us are looking forward to improvements in flight modelling, live traffic, weather, improved performance in going DX12 and improving multi-threading, world immersion, included charts, much improved physics and overall content. Not just how big of a visual upgrade they made. No such thing as stupid posts. Just different opinions which should always be respected. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and choice of simulator. I have no doubt the scenery in MSFS is better than P3D (my choice of sims) but there’s far more to consider when making such a change away from a sim users may have extensive knowledge of. I have 20+ years knowledge of the ESP-based sim that transformed from the original Microsoft Flight Simulator of the 90s to what LM have now delivered. I have hardware that is heavily configured to work with P3D. Changing to another sim means a lot of work to retain the status quo. Same with software. Editing AFCADs for P3Dv5 is always available. But it isn’t for some in MSFS because the files are encrypted. There’s far more to consider when making the jump and even if the effort is worthwhile. Those who decide to stay with what they’re content with should not be criticised. Ray (Cheshire, England). Some cons are significant as you’ve just alluded to. If I’ve bought a scenery package I expect to be able to modify bad AFCADs and these are rarely error free. Ray (Cheshire, England).
