MSFS 2024 Internet specs are higher than I can ever achieve so I'll be remaining with 2020 for a long time to come. The only thing that has changed is that folks suggested there may be an offline opportunity for those with low internet download speeds, in which case I would be in like Flynn. However, now the new sim is out, that possibility appears to have been a false hope. Which makes me wonder, how many people complaining about MSFS servers and streaming in general, have launched into MSFS 2024 either unwittingly or with false hopes that somehow 20Mbps or less will be absolutely fine? The 'Minimum' requirement is 10 Mbps while the ideal is 100Mbps. That's a huge difference. In a similar vein, I wonder about those who say their video cards are maxed out to 100%, and are overheating and who are experiencing random CTD's. Is this not because of the improvement in multithreading? I expect that a suite of capable CPU's are now working wonderfully, finally achieving their capacity and pushing out way more data at speed to the GPU's which have now become the limiting factor. The ideal spec for MSFS 2024 is an i7-14700K and a RTX 4080 and (or the AMD equivalent) . If you have less than that and try running ultra everything (which we all do, don't we), then it may be that we are indeed playing with fire!! So get it back down to medium or even low depending on your CPU/Video card combo. But then the attractiveness of MSFS 2024 visuals takes a hit and following this we get mini meltdowns, illogical tantrums and post purchase depression, all of which seems liberally sprinkled around this forum lately. My take on developers recommended specs has always been that 'Minimum' means the software will run, barely. Compare this to not loading at all. 'Recommended' means you may get to experience most of what the software has to offer but it will be less than optimal. 'Ideal' is ...well... just that. Ideal! Edit: I'm not saying MSFS 2024 isn't buggy. I'm sure it is even for those with great specs. But being buggy is not necessarily why some people are having issues. The bugs will be sorted in due course but the performance specs and 'Ideal' hardware requirements won't change. In the meantime, 'a buggy mess' may just be a convenient excuse. If xp12 or bms get big updates i will take a serious look into those. December 1, 20241 yr I will be staying with 2020 for the forseeable future. I made the decision some time before release to not buy into a fully streamed game for reasons which have now become manifest. I hope knock on affects of 2024's release on 2020 as experienced yesterday don't become regular If one day in the future enough capacity is allocated to make 2024 as good as it is capable of being then I may switch but I see that as more a possibility than a certainty.
December 1, 20241 yr MSFS 2020? What's MSFS 2020? Can't remember it. I'm too busy enjoying MSFS 2024.
December 1, 20241 yr I will stay with 2020 becouse of the quality of ground textures. For me 2024 textures are nerfed, really low draw distance and everywere is blurry, im really disappointed.
December 1, 20241 yr Yes, I will keep MSFS2020. I have not purchased MSFS2024 (yet). Most of the airplanes / helicopters I fly in MSFS2020 are not currently available in MSFS2024. I also keep my favorite airplanes / helicopters spread across two PC's in these flight simulators: FSX (Steam), P3D4, P3D5, P3D6, Xplane11 and Xplane12. I am still purchasing products (new and Upgrades) for all the simulators as they become available. My main focus is on learning aircraft systems, VFR/IFR procedures, navigation and flying the aircraft. There is just no way I could use only one Flight simulator. I'm not entirely sure it is is wise to open your very first post on AVSIM with 'Dude'... If that's the attitude we can expect............ ah, well, I think you'll fit right in here on AVSIM. 🙄😎
December 1, 20241 yr I'll probably uninstall MSFS 2020 when PMDG ports the 737-800 over to MSFS 2024. Career Mode in MSFS 2024 has a lot of bugs. But Free Flight works rather well in MSFS 2024. Otherwise, MSFS 2024 works well enough for me at the moment, and it's better than MSFS 2020 in so many areas. I already mentioned this before, but MSFS 2024 graphics at the ground level look about 7 years more advanced than MSFS 2020 graphics. And the graphics of MSFS 2020 already looks like 7 to 8 years more advanced than the other competing civilian flight simulators. This is how impressive MSFS 2024 graphics are at ground level. And MSFS 2024 has a better flight model, better ground handling, and better water physics. It's simply better in so many areas, that's it's hard to go back to MSFS 2020. If you are willing to skip Career Mode because of the bugs with it and just use Free Flight instead, the biggest drawback of MSFS 2024 compared to MSFS 2020 is that a lot of 3rd party add-ons have not been ported over to it yet. But that will change in the next few months. Edited December 1, 20241 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

December 1, 20241 yr I'm very skeptical to fully streamed games, so I will stay with 2020, maybe I'll try 2024 in 6-12 months if it turns out that full streaming works as promised, but as I said, I'm skeptical.
