Developer Launch Day Update Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Featured Replies

I see this as Jayne, as the Sr. Community Manager at Microsoft was seeing first hand the complaints and furious customers about the day one experience and escalated the situation to Jorg who is the top guy at Microsoft.  He in turn reaches out to Sebastian who is the CEO of Asobo essentially asking offensive initials not allowed Seb??  You can tell that Seb is spewing a lot of technical gibberish excuses about servers and overloading and all that BS but you can tell Jorg and Jayne are really word not allowed with Asobo and this whole situation.

I refuse to wait in a queue to play a game. What a load of nonsense. If this continues I'll be asking for a refund.

  • So they underestimated the initial day(s) load.. all the issues are due to one of the MSFS services and associated server-side cache. They did load tests with 200,000 concurrent users but actual relea

  • My god would you people stop it. So inappropriate

Poor Sebastian it seems like he spend the night at the office

I don't think I can remember any AAA-game having a 'good launch'. I remember World of Warcraft in 2004. Endless queuing and waiting for their servers to catch up...

If Microsoft says that "2020" "sold so well" with "millions of downloads" and so on... how come they didn't expect such a huge number of users yesterday? hmmmmmmm......

I was thinking that myself, I’m wondering if it has to do with the numbers of game pass users who didn’t buy the game so perhaps weren’t properly accounted for?

I expected it was probably going to go this way. Possibly not quite as badly. It seems to go this way with almost all large launches these days, I always wait a few days for the dust to settle. It’s far less stressful!

Sorry but this is on Jorgs head, he is the Lead Developer, he is in charge of all the teams working on the project, he is ultimately responsible for failings. It's his job to make sure things run as smoothly as possible at launch, but alas here we are.

It's yet another example of poor lead management, it happened often with MSFS2020 and it's still happening now.

Maybe he's got too much on his plate, maybe he's got pressure from the suits at MS above him, maybe he's not cut out for such a large project and needs help. Either way the buck falls with him, again.

I unistalled and reinstalled MSFS2024

No reason to. Like MSFS it will recognize what you should have and will install packages accordingly if something is missing.

The system simply was still borked.

I've been saying all night - what is the point of a learning curve if things are not learnt.

Just lip service - sure there is drinking and laughing going on.  MS and minions could care less.  Got the $$, that is all that matters.

No one considered orders vs opening day demand?  What a joke.

After the release of FSX in october 2006 there was no news, rumor, or even hope for a new msfs version.
Until 14 years(!) later when a new MS flightsimulator surprisingly popped up, MSFS2020.

And you are complaining about 1 day??? Let that sink in for a moment please.

What a joke.

Even a few years ago the Shadowlands (I think) expansion caused the high pop server I was on to melt down at prime time for like 4 days.
