Back to MSFS 2020. I hate this stupid GUI

Featured Replies

Re the GUI, I wonder if it’s the old design philosophy that I sometimes attribute to all manner of different tech things, in particular, cameras. Often, a camera eg, can be beautifully made, feels great in the hands, but falls short, big time, when it comes to functionality and useability. I often think these kinds of products have been designed by designers and not photographers! A simplistic example, but I hope you get my drift. I wonder how many of the designers working on MSFS and in particular, the GUi, are actual simmers!

This has been pointed out to them all the way back since the 2020 alpha. Not sure why the regression

It was pointed out 4 years ago the jetty can't go on the L1 door on the 787

It's funny because when FS20 came out people were complaining that the UI was the worst thing to come out flight simming software and had no logic to it. Ah well personally I haven't been able to get into the game yet so can't make any judgements.

just some cosmetic improvements here and there

Interesting you dropped $150 on the sim but missed all the upcoming changes and have summarized it as cosmetic changes. Seems like a blind investment

I’m also struggling with control assignments, particularly for cameras.

What do you need help with?  I don't find the GUI poor.  The controls setup is just different than 2020 guys.  Change is inevitable.

Change for the worse is not what people want to see.

How is it worse?  We can setup profiles per aircraft or you can setup all your buttons/keys and apply that profile to ALL aircraft.  The GUI is just different.  It's not worse or better.  I think as people age, we don't like to accept how things are different.  I was frustrated at first, but after giving it some time, and myself some time to setup my buttons its working pretty well.  There are still server issues, the ground textures can be blurry at times.

It was always a game and now it looks and feels like it even more so!

Thank you pete for your once again insightful feedback that most certainly is taken seriously by all around. You continue to reinforce that you are just a troll, does it not get tiresome?

I find the UI perfectly fine and was pretty easy to figure out. Using the search bar and input search is key.

There ARE however issues with the bindings and controls not working or working right ie. bugs.

I am very disappointed and angry.
First time since FS95 that I hate a flight simulator because of the dreadful GUI.
I'm gonna stop trying to understand the "logics" behind this piece of s...
5 hours spent and I still can't find the way to set views and to bind simple joystick buttons.
I will uninstall this poor piece of software and continue enjoying the beautiful MSFS 2020.
Flying 90% of the time liners, I don't care to see flowers and bees on the hills.

Let see if I can get a refund. If not, I will offer the 150$ spent to the poor Microsoft company, so they can publish an ad to hire a competent GUI manager.

And very honestly, there is no drastic evolution between the 2 simulators, just some cosmetic improvements here and there.
Nothing that justifies tearing one's hair out to set up basic functions and configure devices, especially when our efforts are punctuated by alerts concerning bandwidth and CTDs.

Long live MSFS 2020 !!!! 😄

Here's the thing David, we (the fs community) do this to ourselves and Microsoft knows it. They know that we love our hobby and will rush out to hand deliver our cash to them for any version of FS, and in any state. They also know that we have very short memories and even though it bites us in the behind time and time again, we still do it.

FS 20, as good as it is now, took four years to get to this point, and there are still many things that are still woefully inaccurate. And like they did four years ago, they delivered an alpha and you paid for it. Unfortunately it's like Windows 11, there is no real reason to upgrade from Windows 10. I see no reason to buy it and invest the time dealing with the issues that are obviously present.

I've been simming since FS 1.0 in 1982, and this is the first version that I didn't buy on day one - you can teach an old do new tricks. I'm tired of "being patient". Yes, there is no doubt that I'll buy FS 24 at some point, but that point is not in the near future.

If anyone needs help with something just ping me with the @ryanbatc function...  not that I know a whole lot but ive got a few hours in settings things up etc.  Yes there are bugs.  Like a very annoying one on the PC24 - the gear will not retract!  How Carenado missed that is beyond me!  However, Matt from WT thinks its possible the latest PC24 did not get uploaded before release.  That sounds logical... annoying...but logical.

I miss the days of a flight sim coming either as a digital download, or a physical buy. The internet is like traffic in a city: sometimes the traffic crawls and sometimes the traffic moves. I hope our new sim provides us with a less "congested" experience.

Well geez if I was trolling I wouldn't have been around here a long time!

There are others here that hold similar opinions as myself!

It's easy to disregard my feedback if you don't like it!

About Win 10 and ore Win 11:

As a long time user of Win10 I can only say I disagree:
This August I build a new PC my own means bought the whole hardware and put it together.
And I went to Win11 with this PC and honestly had great concerns, I am very critical.
But I was taught better, best operating system ( in terms of Windows systems ) I ever had, not a crash from the start, great performance and a lot more I didn't want to go back - never !!

But that's just my experience..

cheers ☺️
