November 22, 20241 yr I am exceedingly pleased with 2024. It better than 2020 in a dozen ways, like you have all heard. But it is not way better than 2020 in any of those ways. Except speed. To be able to get to the main screen every time in the last 20 times I booted the sim in 2.5 minutes is like a dream come true. After clicking FLY, not to have wait 90 seconds, but only 20. The one degrade is less fps all the time in 2D and VR. But it's not all that much. I'm glad I bought the Aviators edition, and that I saved $50 by buying in on CDKEYs. Coming soon, I hope, is a marketplace and content manager. In content manager you can download packages to remove them from the cloud, if you wish, or so I have read online here and there. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Its really not the point it should never have been released in this state. When Ready or Not was released (Early Access) At least I could play it and complete the missions.

MSFS 2020 runs perfectly for me and suits how I use a sim 100%. So I'm quitting with my plan to buy 2024 any time soon. After reading all the comments since launch it's interesting how wide a net of user types the MSFS sims appeals to. There are many comments from pretty dedicated users (that were active in the forums with 2020) saying they were putting aside 2024 and then naming other game titles they are going to spend time in the next few weeks/months such as train sims, farm sims, other games. To me this was so interesting - I'm not interested in any other games - simply an obsessive flight simmer since MSFS version 2 in the 1980's. Which got me thinking and wondering how typical is my usage of the sim. I only fly one aircraft - in 2020 it has been the DA62, learn it inside out, fly it daily and hopefully master it to fly instrument approaches, and maybe occasional short hops. The simulation of real world procedures using real world charts (Navigraph) in the twin is what interests me. So my use for 2020 and eventually 2024 is to be a "budget" flight trainer sim, and designing an aviator, selecting preferred facial hair and sunglasses or even doing do walk arounds prior to being in the cockpit etc are not something that interests me. I can see I'm in the minority. I hope Parallel42 or like 3rd party company works on a new UI product, similar to their Stripr and Flow offerings to allow me to skip all the skeuomorphism in the user interface allowing a more direct path to the cold and dark cockpit. I feel a tiny bit sad, thinking will scenery developers from now on only release 2024 versions, as I expect I will be still using 2020 for at least a few more years. It's not that I dont want to move to 2024, it's that moving at the moment would be a massive downgrade to my current experience. Your quote is exactly what I would have said, even down to using the DA62 for about all my flights. So today I went back to MSFS2020 and begin to enjoy the sim again. What struck me was that, if 2020 was the new sim, I would say, "I really like this sim. It a great improvement over the old one (2024)" i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive
November 22, 20241 yr Sorry to hear the OP is giving up on this sim. On day 2, I was able to totally enjoy MSFS 2024. I had a real learning curve setting up my joystick, that's for sure. But after that, my planes and helicopters run beautifully. I have no issues with pauses or stuttering, and I'm pretty much on all ULTRA or HIGH. I've flown about 20+ flights and I love the sim. I'm using a 4 year old Jetline computer with a 1080ti graphics card. My Jetline is the 3rd one I had built by guys who are not only pilots but devotees of flight simulation. They build their computers for these sims. I am not trying to sell them, but I have to admit, that I've always been happy with P3d, MSFS 2020 and now 2024. Hope to see you back soon, OP, and I'm sure things will get better for you.
November 23, 20241 yr Yes! Everyone go back to 2020 immediately! It's the only way to go for a while. That way, we have more free server space to continue to dabble 2024🤣 Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/

You don't even state what is a mess? Not sure what the point of your post is? Do you want sympathy? Launch day was a mess but currently the product is far from a mess! It has issues but certainly is usable in it's present state. Speak for yourself! The majority think it's a mess. I can't load 2024 for more than 5 min without a crash. I've even had two Blue Screen Crashes today. To compare to 2020 in it's current state, I've not had any kind of crashes in probably over 1 year. November 23, 20241 yr As soon as there is a fix for the sound problems I will try again. For now I just accept that this release it's my time to just wait to get a playable sim. I9-14900K, Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD
November 23, 20241 yr Working good here, though it did break my own self-created addons in Utah, so will have to see if I can fix those sometime next month or so. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
November 23, 20241 yr I don’t understand these people that say MSFS2024 is working fine. It’s unplayable in its current state and anyone thinking otherwise is deluding themselves. This looks more like an alpha release. It needs way more time in the oven.
