ou need three layers of control headings to make things work it is a design failure. It is needlessly convoluted. So for me it is not a reluctance to change. It is just plain silly.

O YES! Well written. This design is catastrophic and I am very confident with software development and UI designs as a scrum master.

Asobo did absolutely miss it's targets here.

3 layer headlines and fir echt button 2 assignments......o dear.

Sometimes it is better to watch "others" to copy and take over whats good already....

My wife says I've become grumpy since I stopped flying, I think she's right!! 😄

I have been accused of being a Grumpy Old Man to my face, although not by my wife.. 🙂

Since we are "sharing our feelings" here, I would say that 2024 feels half baked to me.. Many annoying bugs that should have been fixed before release.. Having said that, now that I have my controllers set up, and discovered a few aircraft that I enjoy flying  (RV14A, G36 Bonanza, C414), I am enjoying exploring the world, 2024 style!

The area where I live, the Pacific North West, looks pretty darn nice!  My favorite (Orbx) KORS Orcas Island airport works nicely, as does my freeware CYCD Nanaimo home base.  The city of Vancouver looks amazing with Samscene3D active.

MSFS 2024 starts up reasonably quickly, and runs smoothly at its set rate of 30 fps on my system.

Many things that worked well in 2020, are currently broken, and the four big airliners parked at CYCD bug me every time.  The G36 has yellow gear lights and problems with its registration.   I have had to fall back to the free PMS50 GTN from my trusty TDS unit.  The WT GNS530 has problems with loaded flightplans etc.

And yet, when I have some time to kill,  I get into one of the above planes, and fly around the amazing scenery and marvel at how "real" it all looks.  The vegetation is better, the lighting more interesting (although the glare of the sun can be troublesome..), and the airplane feels good in the air and on the ground.

For our weekly group flights, our group presently still goes back to 2020.. but I can see that changing in the new year.

Asobo has a long list of bugs/fixes to work through, and only time will tell how long it will take them..

Glass half full.  😊

Man, that’s one of my favorites, from Orcas up the coast turn right at Vancouver and follow the river through Chilliwack and into the mountains. Looks so good in 2024.

At the end of the day, a lot of the online back and forth over 2024 seems to boil down to this. We all have the same software, so…

If one is bothered by 2024, don't buy it. If already bought, then don't use it. Nothing in 2024 will degrade 2020, so go fly 2020 and be happy. As for me, I'm delighted with 2024. To me, everything everywhere looks better, not just the lighting. Every plane flies better (you have to not be using an autopilot nor a plane designed to fly by wire to feel the difference).

If you don't like something, don't use it, and don't buy accessories for it. Buy things for 2020 instead if you are enamored with that sim. 2020 is still supported and will get updates.

It is my opinion, that some of the positive reviews on 2024, are by users that had already removed 2020, and are now stuck with 2024, so they are just trying to put a good spin on their bad decision.

It’s my opinion that no one who owns both is stuck with only one, or that anyone given the choice of a few hours reinstalling 2020 and their favourite addons or perpetuity with an unsatisfactory 2024 would choose the latter.

Many that uninstalled 2020, before 2024 was even released, did so  stating that their reason for doing this was to make room for the new sim on  their storage devices. So reinstalling 2020, might not be feasible due to lack of room.

You mean they got rid of the several 100s of GB most had for their 2020 installs in favour of the 50GB or so for 2024, and now can’t find the emotional or disk space to delete that 50GB?

Don’t think so mate.

Dude…..

Again, disagreement is genuine and not a conspiracy of a covert few trying to silence or cancel you.

Go back and read the statements in threads prior to the release of 2024, where many stated exactly that. They were removing 2020, so they would have more room on their drives There are many threads like this, this is just one.

So now the Emperor walked under his high canopy in the midst of the procession, through the streets of his capital; and all the people standing by, and those at the windows, cried out, "Oh! How beautiful are our Emperor's new clothes! What a magnificent train there is to the mantle; and how gracefully the scarf hangs!" in short, no one would allow that he could not see these much-admired clothes; because, in doing so, he would have declared himself either a simpleton or unfit for his office.

But the Emperor has nothing at all on!" said a little child.

Sounds like the Windows 8 released all over again 😉

Right but that doesn’t mean they can’t delete the 50Gb of 2024 if they’re really that tight for space?

You will have to ask them, I guess. 😉

Since none of my favourite planes are available to me yet I’ve spent a lot of time in the C172 with the G1000.
I’ve been flying cross country over the rolling countryside of southwest England where I live and where I’ve spent many hours in the left hand seat with friends who are anxious to share the cost of a club rental.

I’ve come across lots of small, annoying things on every flight but the new flight model, the new weather, the new lighting and the absolutely outstanding new detail in the topography keep me coming back for more.

Yes, it’s been a grisly launch but the sheer authenticity of what I’m seeing and experiencing make it worth it.
