I wish that would install direct into 2024 but it doesn't yet.

This is what I did after uninstalling MS2020: (this is for Store version but should work with Steam by modifying path)

Create directory --> C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Copy your current usercfg.opt from your MS2024 directory into the newly created folder and that should do it.

The new GotFriends planes are awesome. Draco X and Zlin Savage Norden are fantastic bush flyers and the Stemme S12 and Pipistrell Taurus are very capable motorised gliders if you're into gliding.

  • Yes, I think I'm happy to wait for native 2024 versions rather than 2020 conversions, especially for the best addons such as this one. There will be a flood of them at some point.

  • I just got this from Carenado... lets see, this may be getting better..  If I can get all my 2020 airplanes to work in 2024, I'll be happy! Quote: Dear customer,   Thank you for your val

Thank you!! I'll try that. I'm certainly not going to reinstall MSFS2020.

The GA planes that came with FS2024 but its a bit disappointing as it seems several things are broken in each one. <sigh>

Dear customer,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are working with MS to improve the compatibility mode between simulators in the short period of time, product updates are coming soon.

Carenado.

And this from Flysimware:

Quote:

All 2020 products will work for 2024 in free flight once Microsoft Announces they have fixed backwards compatibility. One clue is the MarketPlace store will open and 2020 products will be for sale on that store. We will also make a note on our store and Simmarket. Labeled as working for 2024.

What GA planes are people enjoying?

I am strictly a GA flyer, so these are the GA/VFR planes in FS 2024 I fly (in no particular order). Any non-default listed here is working fine for me in FS 2024:

  • AeroElvira Optica (default)
  • Cessna 172 G1000 (default)
  • Cessna 208 (default)
  • Cessna 400 Corvalis (default)
  • Cub Crafters X Cub (default)
  • DHC-2 Beaver (default)
  • Diamond DA62 (default)
  • Magni Gyro M24 (default)
  • Joby S4 (default)
  • Pilatus PC-12 NGX (default)
  • TBM 930 (default)
  • JPL Logistics Cessna 152 Mod (used to be available in flightsim.to, but now has to be downloaded in their Discord)
  • Bonanza G36 Improvement (link)
  • DA40-NGX Improvement (link)
  • MonsterNX Cub (NX Cub replacement) (link)
  • Carenado/Microsoft - Famous Flyer III: Bonanza V35 (marketplace) (link)
  • Carenado/Microsoft Famous Flyer 8: Cessna T207 (marketplace) (link)
  • Carenado Cessna 182 RG (link)

I do not own it yet, but I have heard great things about the DA42 by Cows, and they have updated it to working in FS2024. (link)

The Carenado Piper PA44 is well liked, but I read that although it flies fine in FS 2024, the panel and autopilot are non-functional until a fix is issued. I will probably get this when it is updated or goes on sale.

The other usual payware suspects in GA are all renowned (Cessna 310, 414, Comanche, Piston Duke, etc.). I favor freeware, and can get my flightsim fix well enough with what is available, so do not own these. I purchased a few of the Famous Flyers (V35, Cessnas) because I had specific attachments to them, and they were on sale/cheap.

spelling!

I mostly enjoyed hand flying Optica, CGS Hawk Arrow II, Zlin Savage Norden and Cessna 188. Cessna 400 Corvalis also flies nicely.

The auto pilot works, but the annunciator panel on the AP doesn’t light up.

So, you have to set VS using the climb indicator, but it will hold altitude and heading based on the HSI heading bug and altimeter.

That’s the only thing not working so should be an easy fix.

On a YouTube video by Overkill, he recommended the C172 Reims Rocket, and it's freeware on Flishtsim.to.

I downloaded it and I really like it.

Well the FSReborn has the only fully compatible GA plane that I know of... it's always a lovely addon whether in 20 or 24.

Otherwise I've been enjoying the Black Square TBM 850 (using default 2020 tbm930 sounds) and basically everything else works.

The Dukes work pretty well but have some minor issues with the AP altitude selected and yoke mounted clocks.

The 414 and Lear 35 seem to work for the most part as well in 24 and I enjoy both of those.

As for 24 default aircraft, I honestly like the Carenado C90 GTX king air - it seems to not have any bugs, the C404 is fun but pretty basic.

I like the Savage Norden - it's very twitchy especially with the rudder - but it has excellent views from the cockpit and amazing flaps and tires for lots of off airport landings.

Once the PC24 is fixed I'll be flying that often - what a beautiful bird with the new Honeywell avionics 🙂

And for helicopters, look no further than the HPG H225 - a very capable helicopter, with FMS and the ability to shoot rnav approaches with lpv minimums.  It also has the EFB tablet which works with default data or the Navigraph charts in beta mode.

There are a few strange GA planes, like the junkyard dog or whatever it's called. Other than that, I like them all. The Cesna 140 , the Cessna 170 (Carenado), all the Foxes, all the biplanes, all the war birds, all the early vintage small planes, all the local legends, all the Cubs, Just Flight Arrows. I don't like the Reno race planes, which seem cheaply made.

I believe when the marketplace opens there will be a big sale, as sort of an apology. If you see the same planes in the 2020 marketplace, look for planes rated 4 or higher. And yes the A2A plane is old school and very great.

I've been having fun in the Draco and both "sprayers", Cessna 188 and AT-802 air tractor for the past few days flying over my tiny country. With the complicated weather system above, mornings are spectacular! Lighting is fantastic in the new sim! Yellow/orange tinted clouds at sunrise, shafts of sunrays illuminating the landscape... can't get enough of it!

Helicopters are next, I managed to assign all the axes correctly. If I can judge by half an hour I spent in the Cabri and the H125 (even without trim), helis will be flown a lot! I got me a Virpil collective and a Warthog with a 15cm extension. What a change! Well, if even I can land on a tiny heliport on our medical center, then anyone can! 😄
