I've read (somewhere...😉) that this can't be reproduced by Asobo right now though. So it hasn't the (enormously important *cough*) 'bug-logged' status yet. Most have likely bought 2024 and then reverted to 2020 until 2024 is more stable and bug free. Some might even switch back and forth between them, depending on whether aircraft they fly are compatible yet (I do that for example, using the Fenix in 2024 and the 777 in 2020). The thing is that *if/when 2024 is as stable and usable as 2020* MSFS2024 is indeed visually superior by quite a margin (I'm an airliner guy but I absolutely love the ground, trees etc. in MSFS2024 and also the clouds and lighting are a significant upgrade), and that's what will drive people back to 2024 later on. People *will* eventually migrate to the better looking simulator, once it's stable enough and all their favorite products are compatible. We've seen that with the release of 2020 and P3D/XPL. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
December 19, 20241 yr I’d agree with the above sentiment. I too experiment with 2024 but it’s just not at the point yet where I’m willing to wave farewell to 2020, which is my go to platform for all my favourite add-ons and I know it inside out. Even something as simple as finding the livery of an installed aircraft in 2024 is nonsensical at this point so there is a long way to go. I think we’ll see a gradual adoption of 2024 as time goes on and these numbers will swap over in the next 6 months or so.

Had 2024 met expectations we wouldn't be here having these conversations and on the flip side here we are in a thread about an aircraft release for 2020 with users talking about how "great" 2024 is "for them" while ignoring the larger consensus and leading indicators of what's actually transpiring. I mean you don't choose to have two dev streams and come "back" to 2020 unless something is really wrong in 2024... Although to be fair the Fenix updates appear to go both ways and be applicable to 2020 and 2024 simultaneously so perhaps it's as simple as "it works so let's release it for both" Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

December 19, 20241 yr This is good news for owners of MSFS 2020 (myself included and the number is huge). My thinking is that when Inibuilds announced that they were going to make A350 for MSFS 2024 only, They assumed that almost majority of people will transition to MSFS 2024 upon release. However given the current status of MSFS 2024 - many simmers have decided to remain on MSFS 2020 until a stability of some sort is achieved on MSFS 2024 (which could possibly take months). From business financial point of view - releasing the product for both versions is good option as it gives more flexibility to people, Releasing for MSFS 2024 only might would have bite them back as they have already said - they have encountered several issues with MSFS 2024 currently. A350 will definitely be a day one purchase for me whenever it releases - no rush in using MSFS 2024, Happy with MSFS 2020 for the time being. I don't know how some people are classifying MSFS 2020 as outdated sim - given many developers are releasing products (Some reverting back to MSFS 2020) and not to mention official support from Asobo continues for next few years. Once Asobo stops any further updates/support - only then sim can be known as outdated in my opinion.
December 19, 20241 yr common sense prevails. They've got a narrrow window for christmas to make as much money as possible, why would you limit yourself to selling it on just one half finished, bug ridden, alpha state sim which probably in its current state cant run the product anyways Release it for fs2020 only over the festive peroid, make some money, (even if its not finished, we all know this community will buy any old tat) Then wait for the loyal pay to beta test ms2024 community to do asobos work for them (as they are doing now) Then release it on ms2024 in 6 months time, at the start of the kids summer holidays to make some more money.
December 19, 20241 yr Author I'm sure a few things went into their decision, and I would also be surprised from a business standpoint some form of Plan B (MS2020) wasn't in the works for a bit. They may also have experienced some issues with the SDK. The issues with their planes in the sim that are outside their control (the freezing going back to the main screen) How well their sales of their 2024 items have (or haven't) gone. They released one 2024-exclusive airport and a handful of premium upgrades. The a350 isn't a plane I'm really interested in since I don't have a lot of use cases for it. However, a release for both sims at least moves solidly into the maybe camp. Issues with 2024 aside, this weekend we learned it really is going to be quite some time before we have the PMDG products into 24. I'll be in both sims for a while, that's for sure.
December 19, 20241 yr I was a big supporter of 2024. When it works, it’s amazing! However the bugs that are present are wearing on me. It does not surprise me they are including 2020 in the release. It’s just a smart business decision. Thankfully those that purchase will also have access in 2024. I uninstalled 2020 but I am considering reinstalling so I can have a bug free flight and have more options. The freezing when ending a flight with an iniBuilds aircraft word not allowed me off to no end. I don’t have a lot of time to fly and that is a 10-15 minute time sink because of restarting the sim.

And the freeware scene? It is practically dead for MSFS 2024 at the moment. Goal achieved? 😕 My god, can it get any more melodramatic? We are 4 weeks post release and you're talking about "lasting damage" to the dev community. Crazy talk.
December 19, 20241 yr I am wondering if they would also consider bringing their upcoming sceneries to MSFS 2020 as well... Edited December 19, 20241 yr by thepilot
