Sim Update 1 Beta (1.3.19.0) Release Notes - February 19, 20

This Simulator is just sick from beginning to the end so for me the disaster still goes on, can not belive why still people have the patience to fool around with that NEW Simulator..

Gosh... where to start? I guess the situation is that there are quite a few of us who use the sim without any major issues. IMO (I've used it since Nov 19 and not used 2020 during these 3 months) - it just works. At least the way I use it. Which includes using various GA aircraft around the world, as well as airliner flights from/to MANY payware airports on each continent - with the addition of a battery of addons - BATC, FSHud, Active Sky, AutoFPS, Self Loading Cargo, Bijan Seasons etc etc.

In other words - for ME - the sim works as well as 2020 - with the exception of the lack of a few aircraft. We have the Fenix (still labeled as experimental - but for me it works) - but it might take some time until we get our hands on the PMDG NG and the iFly MAX.

So in my case, it's not a question of needing any patience at all. I use the sim almost every day, and it just works.

...

I see posts like yours every day, in many different threads. So I'm curious if this is due to a "popular" belief that the sim is a trainwreck - or is it actually still unusable for a number of people? Normally I just read these posts and just shrug my shoulders and let it pass - but every now and then I feel the urge to respond.

...

Question to @pmplayer: Have you tried MSFS2024 lately - or is your opinion of it being "a disaster" based upon the messy first week after release? Genuine question 🙂

As a VR user it's simply unusable much more often then not, so not worth the effort currently.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

None of us know how long these pointless tweaks take to fix, but hazarding a guess after coding, testing and Quality Control (of which there is none...) it's going to be at the very least 30minutes X however many more of these pointless tweaks are made (walking speed increase for one) = hours of development time that could've been spent on fixing some of the much more serious issues.

Especially after they've owned up to releasing the game with thousands of bugs, you'd like to think they'd concentrate on the fundamentally most important ones and leave these minor nonsense tweaks for a Sim Update further down the line.

"Simple" mouse related issues, that should never of been in the game from day one, are at this moment 3months without a fix and counting....

But nah let's enjoy a profanity filter that probably isn't even in MSFS2020 (is it?) that actually goes against realism and not forgetting the increased walking speed...its a total lack of understanding at Asobo about their priorities....again.

But you do understand that this profanity check just runs a reference of the name typed to the list of restricted names.   Plus, you cannot expect MS/Osobo to be ok with profane names in their sim.   Some gamers, smh!

I disagree.  How does taking away resources to work on the profanity check (a "fix" zero users were requesting or waiting for) not take away those exact resources from working on more serious issues?   You are making a huge assumption to say the profanity check was a "quick fix".

You cannot expect MS/Osobo to be Ok with profane names in their sim.   Plus, a profanity check is just referencing a "typed" name to a restricted list.  Some gamers, smh

Question to @pmplayer: Have you tried MSFS2024 lately - or is your opinion of it being "a disaster" build upon the messy first week after release? Genuine question 🙂

Hi, thanks for your informative answer !

First, i not even bought and tried anything about MSFS2024 and maybe this seems a bit unfair against MSFS2024 and i will try to explain my Situation:

I am a bit burned from all the hickhack we had with MSFS2020 to the way now, what means more ore less ready at a beautiful state.

So i won`t do that hickhack again, thats what is holding me back to Order that new Sim.

And of course I read here and elsewhere what is going on with the new Sim and I have to say the negative statements of the users I read are by far higher than e.g. your statement.
And some or many things are in a similar area to the MSFS2020 at the beginning and I now know how Asobo works, I've experienced it over the years and I don't want to go through that again.
I mean such little things that are so important are then not fixed forever, etc., etc. - I think you know what I mean.
That's why I thought I'd wait until Christmas 2025 to buy the new one and think that the biggest problems will be fixed by then...
I actually want it already, but not if it's still buggy, because I think the MSFS2020 is super well suited to my needs and how and what I do with it now, finally after 4 years, and I can wait a little longer for the MSFS2024...
Not everyone may understand that, but everyone uses their simulator differently and the old one is just perfect for my needs.
Sometimes I wonder if I should even buy the new one, I'm just happy with the old one, but we'll see.
Anyway, thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it!

cheers 😉

So what are they gonna do about custom liveries with realistic registration that goes against their profanity filter?....oh yeah that's right, nothing!

What is not profane in one language might be in another. Wonder if the check every language.

I don‘t agree with you. I strictly fly in VR and I have big fun with this simulator, although I was very sceptic in the beginning. The stunning graphics and great performance compensate for the few quirks and limitations. What makes my life easier in all simulators in VR is the intensive use of speech commands (I use VoiceAttack), also for the cockpit cameras. So, not even a wrong pilot’s position is a problem any more.

Furthermore, even when using the same language, a word may be ok in one country, but considered as profanity in another one.

They wasted time working on a profanity filter?
For " word not allowed" "word not allowed" sake!

I was going to say that after I got to the end of the thread!

Now I'll have to think of another wise word not allowed remark. 🤣

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Does that mean banning repaints with painted on numbers?

Another update just went up with 3 or so fixes. This is definitely the release candidate.
