What's missing from MSFS 2024?

You can resolve the load times for 2020 by disabling packages you don't use. It makes a huge difference.

For me, 2024 is a work in progress whereas now with my setup I can fly 2020 with every setting on max and 99% of 3rd party airports work flawlessly. I also prefer the night textures in 2020.

Very easy with MSFS Addons Linker.

Sorry Noel but I completely disagree with you here - I have the exact same issue but it wasn't a problem in SU1 and early versions of SU2. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my computer or setup -

I don't particularly miss 2020 but hey there were one or two things I wish were ported over. But that will happen eventually. What a clickbait-y title though, which is a bit surprising. So accord

A bit of an aside, but for me this is one of those small improvements that made a big difference and made helicopters really enjoyable in 2024. Being able to pick any spot on the ground and start in c

DX11. Personally I get far better performance with that than DX12, so if I could have just one thing ported over it would be that.

UK 2000 Flagstaff won't load.....

Do you want me to ask Gary about that? I have not seen any other reports about UK2000 airports not working in MSFS 2024. Gary has updated all of his airports for MSFS 2024 compatibility, so Flagstaff certainly should work. What happens when you try to load it? Does it freeze during the loading process? Does it CTD?

That's just it - it's even easier with 2024. Don't have to use anything.

I have about 250 third party sceneries enabled in the sim right now. I don't have to figure out where I want to fly and fiddle with random apps to get them loaded. Literally just boot in the sim, and it loads only the ones that I'll need right in that moment. That's the big benefit of streaming for me.

Only if you have all your airports from Marketplace and therefore stream them all though?

I was under the impression that airports/content installed via the Community Folder behave the same way as they do in 2020. Which for me is preferred at the moment because 9 times out of 10 the runway at airports that I stream only fully load in after I've landed on them which completely kills the experience.

MSFS 2024 has procedurally generated rocks and boulders across the entire world now.  And these rocks and boulders can flip your plane over, if you are not careful:

There is no other flight simulator that has anything close to this, without using custom scenery - yes, you can do this at any random location in the world in MSFS 2024 where rocks and boulders have been procedurally placed.  This aspect of ground physics alone, makes MSFS 2024 leaps and bound better than any other flight simulator when it comes to ground physics.

global boulders is not how i define ground physics personally

when i hear the term, to me it's referring to how an aircraft interacts with any ground surface, boulders or not, and how it behaves in relation to the wind during taxi, takeoff and landing - does it have realistic wheel interaction, weight and inertia in turns, can you track a centreline in a GA aicraft in a 15 knot crosswind etc etc

boulders are obstacles not ground physics

So everyone will have a different take. My take is, it's a part of the overall ground physics. Because nothing like that is modelled in the other flight simulators without custom scenery.

Anyways, you have your take, I have my take.

His channel followers are well aware for a while. I don't think it's ego, as much as acknowledging he already has a few videos out regarding his move to 2024. I don't think the comment is meant for folks who are clicking on a link.

Below has nothing to do with you comment. In ATC parlance "break break"

I'm back on 2020 for a while, My non-Greazer level of goalposts. These, I think, are at least reasonable.

  • Resolving the VRAM issues. Sure, I have a 3060ti, but even with all settings on low performance is horrid. I am tired of incanting dark arts to try and resolve this.
  • SU4 with the night lighting bloom fix
  • The Fenix update making it native.
  • Either the iFLY or PMDG 737 native.
  • //42 FLow, although this isn't a deal breaker.

Don't have anywhere near that many third party sceneries but almost all I have stream just dandy here.  All I'm missing is FT KLAS, and PMDG 738.  I had to do some spring cleaning, complete reinstall of Win 11 and of course MSFS 24 and 20.   2024 practically installed itself before I knew what was happening, whereas 2020 took a few hours.  Even so it's not like you have to 'tend' to anything during the install.

In reality, the plane would have been stopped. Ridiculous as an example.Paper airplane physics.

Depends on the size of the rock, slope of the rock, speed of the plane, etc.  Having said that, of course a simulator can't simulate everything perfectly. But the fact that MSFS 2024 simulates this is amazing.

It's a first for a flight simulator, no other flight simulator does this, for default scenery. This puts MSFS 2024 miles and miles ahead of the rest of the flight simulators.
