Yeah, the bottom line is still 4K with a 5080 16 gig card is still out unfortunately.   That's with mostly medium to a few high FS settings.  2K stutter free is fine still.  Not much overall savings in VRAM in SU3.  That's on my system with a 60hz monitor.

Folks with an upper end'ish processor and a 4070, 4080 and 4090 series with at least 16 gigs can play in 4K just fine.  On 2K they barley break 10 gigs vram to hold stutter free at 60fps.

The 50 series cards for some reason just aren't good for MSFS right now.  A 5090 probably works fine because you're throwing a ton of memory at the sim, although some people still report vramming out.  Those folks are probably using ultra settings though.

Looks like I'm gonna have to upgrade to the 5080 24 gig when it comes out or go for the 5090 when prices come down next year some time.

Those are not affected and can be switched off. The moving ones are the ones that reset themselves to medium when you switch them off.

Was on Steam Beta 1.5.26.0 - received an Updating message when I clicked on Play 45-minutes ago.  Now am on 1.5.27.0.  Have restarted Steam and the Sim multiple times but always get 1.5.27.0 and that is what the FlightSimulator2024.exe says it is in Properties/Details.

I then when into Steam Properties and Deselected Beta and restarted Steam and the Sim.  I am still on 1.5.27.0 - it works great and seems to be an improvement over 1.5.26.0.  Restarted Steam to verify I am no longer in the Beta but still get 1.5.27.0

What have I done wrong so that Steam cannot install SU3?

everything seems fine.  I deleted my rolling cache, and put my DLSS versions back to 310.3.  All good.

Just a tip...  If you run locked at 30 frames with Frame Gen on top like me (I find this ultra smooth, cool and quiet on my PC - DLSS Quality setting at 4k) then turn off the frame lock before you quit, and then just restore it at next load. 
It takes literally two or three seconds to do in preferences, however, for some strange reason your sim will load much, much quicker.

I am not sure why this is - some strange quirk of MSFS, but with the frame lock removed I am normally ready to go by the time the Vision Jet shows in the video.  Locked at 30 it loads a lot slower.
Much faster loading than MSFS2020 anyway.  They put some good work into this.

 

 

30 locked with frame gen on is still 30FPS, right?  Just making sure.  It is for me.  When you lock the frames, the frames are locked regardless.

You also need to read thread titles more closely. The Version Number is right in there. 😉

I'm going to have wait for SU 4 beta in order to have anything important to complain about.

So I have to revert what I said about the AI traffic reverting itself to on in the settings. That only happens if you try to switch it off while you are already in flight.

If you do this in the main menu it sticks.

Good to know. Thank god that there is a way that’s not crazy to work around that bug.

The idea is to lock frames at 30 in game and apply 2x frame gen to get 60 on screen.
