EXPORT your templates from 2020 and save them. Then use A&O for 2024 and add those templates to aircraft. Scripts can be imported from the individual releases- painless. October 24, 2025Oct 24 I can say MSFS 2024 has become my preferred flight simulator since early after it's release. It's my go to sim for anything but helicopters which still leave something to be desired when it comes to flight dynamics. For that my go to sims are DCS World and xp12... Never had performance problems with 2024. It always performed better and sometimes way better than FS 2020 for me. Functionality, ease of use (specially now that I got familiarized with the Controllers menus, although I would prefer something more like DCS World or Xp12 for that), great addons, unique World scenery, great weather depiction and some effects too... October 24, 2025Oct 24 I was loving 2024 from the start. Each SU addressed some of the issues and it just gets better and better. Jase

I’d like to see all devs go full time 24 so we don’t see their talents diluted between two sims Let's wait for Fenix decision about NEO. If it's 2024 release only, then - yes, it's time to close the chapter with 2020. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

So, I keep my current install of AAO and install the 2024 version of AAO. Export settings from the 2020 version, import into the 2024 version. Verify they are there and then uninstall the 2020 version of AAO. Do I have that correct? Eric

October 24, 2025Oct 24 I deleted MSFS 2020 a couple weeks ago to focus on MSFS 2024. Other than the vastly improved loading times, and some cloud layer improvements, I’m not seeing much of a difference or a stand out feature. I don’t use career mode so maybe that’s it. October 24, 2025Oct 24 MSFS 2024 initial release was turning the corner for me, never really thought MSFS 2020 was that great. Sure MSFS 2024 has a lot of early issues and will continue to have some issues just as did MSFS 2020, but MSFS 2024 was enough to make me use it as my primary simulator over P3D and XP (which are still both great simulators in their own rights). Some of comments I've seen about MSFS 2020 vs. 2024 is that they can't see the difference? It's very different, so I'm assuming these comments come from users that don't have sufficient hardware to enable the difference or they've never really used MSFS 2024? Sure, I'd like to see more, but that will always be the case regardless of which flight simulator I use. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

It's very different It depends what they mean by can't tell a difference. 2020 was updated to the same Bing imagery. So if they simply mean they see the same Digital Twin then it's accurate although the '24 lighting certainly changes the atmosphere but if people say that they see the same digital twin Bing imagery in both sims they are correct, it's not different at all. In some cases they are even considering going BACK to 2020 imagery in very specific areas where the 2020 Bing Imagery looks better than the 2024. If you are flying low and slow the same imagery will look very different but if you are a tubeliner pilot looking down at the textures they are the same digital twin, that's true. I think you should do some bush flying then. The world of MSFS 2024 outside of cities looks so much better than MSFS 2020. If you are flying airliners from major airport to major airport, you will miss out on much of the ground scenery in MSFS 2024 like this. Also, if you are flying GA, like the default Cessna G1000, the flight dynamics have improved, and the ground handling has also improved. If you are flying a 3rd party plane, and they didn't tune the flight model to MSFS 2024, you may not feel any differences. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Unfortunately as a VR flyer I need to keep the graphics settings on the lower end otherwise it’s a slideshow or CTD. With these lower settings I’m not getting the benefit of the better visuals at ground level. October 24, 2025Oct 24 Has the LOD issue been addressed? I seem to recall that this was as issue and made some of the scenery worse than 2020. Cheers Steve Hall
