  1. Hello all, I'm getting close to having the equipment side of my home cockpit done. Once I have all of the hardware, I'll begin the fun part of the actual construction and mounting. However, I need 3 more gauges for the cockpit, the end goal being to have: Attitude Indicator Airspeed Indicator Altimeter Heading Indicator RPM / Engine Performance (EGT/CHT/FF, etc.) VSI/Turn Indicator But what I keep getting stuck on are the gauges. I have 3 Saitek FIPs, and while they are nice, they're pricey and have their limitations. I've looked at the Simkit servo gauges and while I think they're awesome, they're out of my budget ($400 just for the altimeter...). Also, I fly multiple aircraft. So if I got the C182 SimKit Airspeed gauge, it wouldn't help if I took my Citation for a spin. The Saitek FIP's do offer me the additional flexibility of switching to a gauge with higher speed tolerances. I do have a 23" Asus monitor that's currently not doing anything, so I've thought about mounting it behind the wood panel and cutting holes in the panel to have it shine through, but that would require a mapping utility to resize the gauges (presumably for each aircraft) so everything matches up with those holes. Does such a utility exist? Anyone have any experience with it? I can get 3 more Saitek FIPs if that's the best option, but I want to see what all is out there. Google's not super helpful on this. I'm willing to pay $175 a gauge. MAYBE $200, but that's pushing my budget. What are some alternatives to the Saitek FIPs in that price range? Benefits/Cons ? Should I just use the FIPs? Is the monitor a viable option? If so, what do I need to do to map the gauges correctly to fit a set of drilled holes? Can you do that via profiles so each aircraft matches up on start? I'd appreciate any/all help. My hardware-to-buy list is getting smaller and smaller... just want to have everything before I begin building so dimensions and such are correct.
  2. Hi All, New to FSX (and sims for that matter), is there a realistic EC145 add-on that has "working" overhead panel, gauges, switches, gps, autopilot and controls? I'd like to do everything from start-ups, takeoff, emergency procedures, instrument approaches, landing and shutdown. Is there such an animal out there?
  3. Error situation: during flight your ND is not updated anymore and/or the MFD is going black. After opening a ticket at PMDG support I received the message that this is a known FSX issue, which appears if no airport is close enough to generate a reasonable "tower view" - so usually over the ocean on intercontinental flights. ... and of course only if you switch through the available modes to enjoy your flight from certain perspectives, just as I do ... Following this hint, I went into cameras.cfg file and used to comment the tower view by putting a ";" in front of each line of the respective section. (In my case it was [CameraDefinition.007]) In Windows 7 you can locate this file in: users\yourusername\appdata\roaming\microsoft\fsx This removes the tower view and solved this issue at least in my case and enables now realistic intercontinental flights. I hope this workaround helps others as well ;-) Kind regards, Hans Jörg.
  4. Hi there. Newbie here so I hope this isn't a dumb question...I've installed all versions of the TinMouse 737-200 on FSX from 1.30, 1.31, 1.32, and 1.40. Seems like sound and panel are good, except there are NO GAUGES or SWITCHES on the panels. I'm wondering if I have a step wrong somewhere. I thought I followed all the instructions, and even saw the corrected instructions...My directory structure looks like this:C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X>1.---------------------------------------\TM.ini2.----------------------------------------\Effects\fx_smoke_JT8D.fx3.---------------------------------------\Sound>-------------------------------------------------\TMPandelSound.xgs--------------------------------------------------\TMSoundBank.xsb---------------------------------------------------\TMWaveBank.xwb4.---------------------------------------\SimObjects\Airplanes>------------------------------------------------------------------\B737-200_TM2------------------------------------------------------------------\fsfsconv\panel.B732ADV\B732adv.gau (1.40)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\panel.cfg (renamed from panel.fsx.wide.160-10.sp77.cfg)5. 5. Hi, So I recently installed the Just Flight L-1011 Pro in my FSX I didn't want to use the VC because it was so buggy and slow, so I used the 2D Panel instead. However the EPR & N1 Gauges came out looking like this:
  6. Hey! I've recently been having some issues with the PMDG 737NGX. Whenever I start my aircraft up, I do this: Battery > APU (whole procedure) > IRS Align -- I may have missed some things out, but that's basically what I do. Now, when my PFD, ND and EICAS come on, it shows this: As you can see, there is no numbers on the PFD, ND or EICAS. I need help! Signed, Jacob Passam
  7. Hello! I have been using the PMDG NGX flawlessly for the past couple months. Today, I went to do a flight. I found all the gauges and screens black. Also, the levers and knobs don't move. It says I have full flaps and throttle when I can control it manually. When I do this though, the levers don't move. The control yoke also it stuck all the way to the left even though I can control it myself. Also, the spoilers and flaps I can tell make the aircraft slow down, but it has no visual effect. If anyone could point me in the right direction to fix the problem or it may even be a simple fix, that would be great! Thanks! Will
  8. Hi, Im usingf the PMDG 777 with P3Dv4 on a Dual Monitor Setup (Second is for gauges) and i have a Problem with undocking the Panels. Whenever i undock a Panel to take it to my second Monitor, the Panel goes black in the VC. Ist like im litterally taking it out to bring it to the other Screen. I have never had this with any other aircraft. Is it Normal ? sorry for my bad english Greetings from switzerland Stephane
  9. I have been trying all the solutions on all the forums that i Found, neither of them worked, i have been the entire week trying to fix it, all my simconnects, vcredist, the FS9 dll and the aircraft files are properlly installed, i just want to know what is happening here and if there is any way to solve it
  10. Hello all, After a bit of forum searching with no results I'm posting this question. Odd display issue here. The ATI 5570 graphics card (1 gb vram) in my computer failed and until I either do an oven-based reflow on it or buy a replacement I installed the machine's original Geforce 7300 GT (256 mb vram) back into the computer. But now when I try to run FSX, I get no gauges on any aircraft and the gauge locations on the panels (2d & 3d) are transparent. I also reset all the display settings to their minimums, no change. The 7300 GT worked ok in FSX years ago in both XP & Win7 and seems to work ok in most other applications (except that on Flightradar24 I can no longer see anything in 3d mode). Any ideas what the problem is with the gauges now? Machine is dual boot MacPro 1,1 (bootcamp) running Windows 10 Pro 32 bit. 15 GB memory. Win10 is running DirectX 12. Thanks for any help.
  11. Fsxtimes, a legendary flightsim blog since fsx times, just added two nice features for MSFS users: 1. For Saitek/Logitech FIP users There is now a first batch of FIP gauges available for some planes, i.e. the C152, C172, and R400. I like these gauges as they are very close to the originals and come with some additional features like an elevation and flap indicator. To see MSFS offers, go to the FIP Gauges Store from the upper right menu and select MSFS. These gauges work with SPAD.neXt (that's the way I am using them) as well as the Saitek drivers. 2. For all MSFS users The blog entry has two pdf documents (one for propeller planes and one for jets) collecting panel screenshots of all MSFS planes. That's something I am missing in the plane-selection in game where only exterior views are shown (which I rarely see sitting in the cockpit). Honestly, there are some planes in the MSFS zoo which I never heard about before, so this does help. If you open the documents you can even click on the images to get a high-resolution version to save or print out, if you like. (First click in the docs provides a scroll bar of all panels, a second click onto a specific one shows it in detail with a View full size option in the lower right). Kind regards, Michael
  12. Hello i just wanted to ask what gauges i should use on my cessna 172 simulator that i am building. I am planing on having 2 computers so all the stress is not on just one. I am building simsamurai's CS-1 and want to know some options for under $100 USD. <_< Thanks. Progress updates to come!!!
  13. I need some advice: I just installed a second X-Plane PC into my Simulator, this PC will be the Master while my 'old' will become the Slave for the visuals. My panelbuilder software runs on a third PC, nothing changed here. I transferred all plugins including Panelbuilder receiver and sender to the X-plane installation on the new Master PC. It connects but all gauges have gone bezerk..... no valid indications whatsoever. My question: What do I need to do to correct this, did I forgot something or do I need to simply re-install Panelbuilder on the New Master PC? Or is it a setting somewhere on the new Master PC (I did disable the Win7 firewall) Any advice?
  14. I have configured a Panel Builder set of gauges for FSX baron 58 and have two Engine RPM gauges. Both gauges read the same and reflect the RPM of engine #1 only. How do I setup the second RPM gauge to reflect the engine RPM's of engine #2? I am using SimConnect interface. Thank you.
  15. Glass display panels in cockpit go black after a while. Using P3D, have latest GeForce drivers installed. Does anybody know why this is happening?
  16. Hello! I have been using the NGX flawlessly for over two months now. Just now, I am having strange problems. The screens are black and gauges too. Also the control yoke is stuck all the way left visually, I still have manual control. The throttle is also full throttle, but I can control it manually, but it doesn't move. If anyone could help or lead me in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks! Will
  17. Hello, just bought an academic version of Prepar3dv4. When i select to fly with certain airplanes of Carenado like Katana DA40 the interior of the aircraft (panel and passenger views) is not showing properly. In their site does not mention something about incompatibility. Am i missing something?
  18. Reality XP http://www.reality-xp.com/flightsim/flt/features/index.html SimTouch Plus 2 http://www.simtouch.eu/Information/SimTouchPlus2.aspx I don't find much feedback on Reality XP gauges and even less on SimTouch Plus 2. SimTouch Plus 2 works on a regular monitor as does Reality XP. So no need to buy a new monitor. I have a 19" and a 24". In a few weeks, I will build a whole new system with 4k 55" LED TV, new computer etc. So a second monitor for the panel would be nice. Are these products worth buying or is a separate window from the sim (FSX and P3D) good enough? BTW- I am a student pilot. So I will be flying the A2A Cessna Trainer almost exclusively. No Heavy Metal, PDMG type aircraft ever. Thanks RMM

  21. Hi there, I tuned in both the radios NAV frequency of EKVG ILS , the localizer has been captured, but the indicator of glide path does not work as a picture below. Do you know why?
  22. Gah! There aren't enough working variables in FS to support this indicator properly... The early 737-xxx series has two rows of indicator lights showing the status of VOR/LOC and GS arm and capture. The left set is for the Flightdirector, the right set is for the Autopilot. After several hours of frustration, I now have the VOR/LOC set working correctly. FD..........................AP When tuned freq is localizer or VOR: VOR/LOC............VOR/LOC If glideslope is available: GS.....................GS FD..........................AP If signal strength is reliable: VOR/LOC............VOR/LOC If signal strength is reliable and glideslope is available: GS.....................GS The biggest problem is that the "signal strength" for a tuned localizer is always 0 or 256. There is no "inbetween..." The signal strength for a VOR however varies from 0 to >8000... I have the VOR/LOC set working fine, but the GS set is driving me nuts! Apparently, in FS there are many duplicated A:vars with different names: (A:NAV HAS GLIDE SLOPE:1,bool) (A:HSI GSI NEEDLE VALID,bool) (A:NAV CODES:1, flags) 64 & 64 == (A:NAV GS FLAG:1,bool) The GS amber should only light if a tuned freq is a full ILS equipped runway, and should only light the GS green indicator when capture is assured. Anyone have any ideas at all?
  23. I recently purchased Briefing Time ver 7 and enjoy it, I do how every have an issue with certain gauges and all lights cease to function after about 7-10 minutes of flight. It seems the "battery" goes "dead". There is no "generator" switch and I'm at at loss of what to do. Any suggestions? Also was wondering if inside the VC we should see the tinted panels as some screen shots I've seen do, but none of mine do. Thank you for your time and another great aircraft, I really love my "Turkey" Larry

  25. Hi I'm a new member here and I'm currently just learning the ropes of FSX and once I get the hang of FSX, I'd like to start using xplane 10 as well. I'm currently setting up my equipment and I have all Saitek equipment (Yoke, rudder, throttle quadrants, multi panel, switch panel, 2 radio panels). I wanted to also get the Saitek LCD mini display panels but I don't feel like spending the $600+ for 6 lcd gauge panels. I've done some searching and I've seen people with a dedicated LCD monitor just for the instrument gauges. How is that done? I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum but I didn't know if this thread falls under FSX, Hardware or just a general newbie question. Believe me, I've searched on google and some of the pages I've seen are way to complicated or I just can't find anything that relates to what I need. If it helps, I just built a new computer (Asus Maximus Formula VII, 16GB RAM, 2 Samsung PRO SSDs, Intel 4790k cpu, nVidia 660ti GPU's running in SLI, 3 Asus 27" LCD montiors) so I should have the hardware capability of running the 4th LCD monitor. I was planning on using my extra 19" LCD monitor to display just the instrument gauges as it's setup in a Cessna. Any help would be appreciated (such as what software I would need or if there are any tutorials out there you can link me to). I've also seen some people using ipads or some other touchscreen for GPS maps. Is this is same process? Thanks!
