  1. Hello, I actually wanted to buy the Mindstar GNS530/430. However, I realized I will buy a new, fast computer in a few months. I just wanted the Mindstar because it's very lightweight. But when I buy my new PC, I can also use heavier things. So why should I now buy a lightweight, old GNS 530 without "Bells ans Whistles", when I can have an awesome touchscreen GPS for the same. But there is still some time between now and the purchase of my new computer. And I finally want to get a new GPS to fly IFR. The minimum requirements of the Flight1 GTN 750 say: CPU: Intel core i5/i7 quad-core or equivalent RAM: 8GB GPU: Nvidia GTX 500 series or equivalent with at least 1GB memory OS: 64 bit Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or XP My current system looks like that: CPU: 2.1 GhZ Intel Duo Core RAM: 4GB GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4500 with 512 MB memory OS: 64 Bit Windows 10 SIM: FSX: Steam Edition Is there any chance my sim will run with FPS other than 5 FPS? At the moment I am used to around 16 Frames per second. In flight sim this looks so smooth. So: Does it need lots of resources what maked the whole computer laggy? I just would like to bridge the gap between now and my pc purchase. Thanks!
  2. Here is the checklist.gtn (7KB) file for the RealAir Turbine Duke V2. Images below. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tyy9dncdaan940a/Checklist.gtn?dl=0 Drop this file in the main Duke aircraft folder (same location as the aircraft.cfg file). More info on checklist use are described in the RXP and Garmin manuals. Reality XP GTN Touch FltSim.pdf GTN 725-750 Pilot's Guide.pdf Page 15-36.
  3. This is a realistic flight from Skagit KBVS to Redding KRDD in the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 SE v3.0. I'm still using P3D v4.5 so unfortunately I wasn't able to check it out in v5 with the nicer skies /atmosphere. If you don't like reading lots of words, my recommendation is to buy the plane right away haha....it hand flies beautifully and accepts the Flight1 or Reality XP GTN units in a few different configurations. It's also very powerful and cruises at a respectable .82 mach (MMO). I found no real issues with performance either. Moving on to the mini review.... This is version 3 of the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25... I've owned all of them, and the changes in this warrant the price for the upgrade - especially the dense manual and the numerous liveries. I can understand though, why some users think it's a little high. I'm currently quite active in P3D and XP11 (and the other thing hah!) Sometimes actively using both sims, with payware addons, makes you appreciate the wonderful options we do have. This Lear is one of them. Anyway, I hopped into the Lear 25 sitting on the ramp in Skagit WA (Orbx), and I had to review the manual for startup. I was spoiled with the simplicity of the small GA props I've been using lately. The lear is a pilot's plane - there are many switches to flip just to get her in the air. Routing was KBVS SEA J65 LMT KRDD at FL410. The lear can go higher but I picked a typical business jet altitude. FL450 is the service ceiling but the absolute is FL510! You'd have to be very light with just the right conditions and step climb for that to happen. Once started, I program the GTN's - just love entering waypoints in those units....so simple - if you don't have the RXP GTN, I highly recommend it! Then I taxi out to runway 4. With covid, air traffic is quite diminished, so ATC initially gives me a climb to FL230. I hand fly the entire climb (albeit with FD enabled) - 250kias under 10k is just an insane climb rate - I really have to push forward and trim heavily. I breathe a little sigh of relief passing 10k, where I nose over slightly gain airspeed to 280 kias for the rest of the climb (I used mach .70 up to FL410). There are no autothrottles on the Lear. A note about the SPD-P climb mode on the autopilot. What I initially thought was this mode was similar to FLC in modern aircraft. Apparently this is not so, and verified by the actual Lear pilot who tested with XP. The SPD-P mode was very unreliable and so unfortunately in this older aircraft, VS is the preferred mode of pitch change. I had some issues using it in P3D as well, and opted for VS mode in climb and descent. I've never flown a Lear (but have a small amount of turbine time) - the aircraft feels great with my controls, heavy but stable, yet controls are responsive. Hand flying is a real pleasure. I did engage autopilot for duration of cruise (I'm pretty lazy ha - but the idea of me holding the yoke for that long sounds terrible). Aside from the mode above, it's a pretty typical autopilot, it's got your lateral NAV/HDG/LOC/APR modes and the VS pitch mode, along with ATT which just holds pitch when pressed. You can change pitch in this mode with the command wheel on the lower center pedestal. You'll see a SPD and MACH button as well - these aren't true to the aircraft but user requested speed hold modes. Pressurization is simple to operate as well - nothing real different from other jets/king airs. Happily at FL410, I'm doing about mach .81 - .82 - and nearly 500 knots over the ground. In a little bizjet that's pretty fast! I can think of maybe one or two other bizjets that would go faster for this size. The Falcon 20 with a MMO of .86 and I think the original Lear 23 did about the same. Up here I'm thinking about the ATIS at RDD, and I'd like to shoot the RNAV (GPS) Rwy 16 via WARSU for practice. The Reality XP GTN 750 easily handles this - I Direct To WARSU after passing LMT, and ATC gives me a "PD" pilot's discretion descent to FL170. I use VSR (vertical speed required) on the GTN to see how to efficiently descend into KRDD on the approach. I'm setting pressurization for field elevation, and for descent, having to definitely pull back the power levers! I get approach clearance from ATC. Passing WARSU, the IF, I'm getting vertical navigation from the WAAS receiver on my GPS, this RNAV 16 approach has LPV minimums, so the glide slope balls appear on my HSI, and I just follow it down like an ILS. Speed-wise, after WARSU I'm still doing 250 kias but starting to slow to 200, for flaps 20 and gear, near the final approach fix I slow further and put gear down and flaps 40. I'm not certain what touchdown speed is but I held 150 kias till short final, then bled off speed for about 135 kias touchdown. Much past that and she drops like a brick. What else can I blab about? Modelling is exquisite in this bird - the instruments and textures, the exterior and cabin look great. The panel lighting is impressive, with a few different flood types, map light and gauge backlighting. It does use dynamic lights and they look superb from the exterior. There was one thing I was a little bummed about - no PBR textures on the exterior. I can understand how creating them could be time consuming - I've done a few repaints in the past and it took forever lol. Still though I just love the extra touch of realism external PBR brings to these old birds! The sounds are amazing as well (I almost forgot to mention them). From the clicks, to engine spool up, to cruise and touchdown. Overall the addon is impressive! I'm a bizjet lover and a GA lover - so this is a no-brainer! Hopefully this helps some of you on the fence and here's a few shots from the flight. Additional products used on this flight: Reality XP GTN 750, Orbx BVS and RDD (and the regions), Active Sky, ENVTEX//SHADE. 4. Good morning/afternoon/evening to all.I purchased the Garmin GTN database 599$ to try to update my RealityXP but all tutorials I have seen unfortunately doesnt match my system. Everything is working but with the old database 21xx if I am not mistaken, but I dont have any files or folder at ProgramFiles from Garmin. Anyone know if the procedure changed to update the Rxp from Garmin Trainer?Appreciate any help. Thanks
  5. Here's a mini review and screenshots (Part 1) of a rather lengthy flight (well, for me!) of about 570 miles and 2 hours of flying time. This plane is the Black Square Velocity XL - about 28 USD. I thought at first this was just another GA piston single, but I'm actually quite enjoying it - it's a canard design (and appears to be modeled well - and importantly with this design, it is said that it makes the airframe stall resistant), with a very powerful TSIO-550 twin turbocharged engine. This engine is the 400 hp EXP version - which some people might gripe at however it's going into an experimental airframe - so I say the more power the better! The gear is retractable allowing for great cross country speed at altitude (I was easily doing 240 ktas at FL250 - but it will do more with aggressive power settings - a small tailwind can easily bring you into the 280-300 knot range). Also of interest - the aircraft has no flaps. If you really fly it with the turbochargers in mind, you cannot just "chop and drop" into an airport... you'd shock cool the engine and ruin your investment in a hurry. I'm not exactly sure of the glide ratio either haha! There are about 1000 Velocity aircraft around today. Range at econ cruise should be around 1600 miles. This flight was mostly on autopilot but earlier in the week I had flown it by hand and shot a few radar approaches with pattern work. At first it was tricky to get slowed down but it feels a lot better after a couple of hours of flight. The avionics are the G3X and GTN 750. I've fitted my Velocity with the WT G3X and the TDS GTN 750Xi - this is not an official mod but I hope the developer will integrate the TDS shortly. I shot an RNAV(GPS) approach with vertical guidance and it worked great! (I did end up circling to land). The freeware PMS is also available. I understand the G3X isn't the greatest of avionics but with the GTN it is a lot better. I would have liked to see some oxygen status or O2 ability - since the aircraft can go to FL250. In the US at least you'd need onboard O2 above 12,500 ft (after 30 min). The autopilot can be controlled via the G3X touchscreen w/WT mod or by use of the physical GFC500 controls under the GTN. IAS mode works well. As I said I fitted mine with the TDS mod that I've made on my own - I may be able to share it but I'm hoping Black Square will officially make an integration since TDS has provided a lovely 3d bezel and SDK. At any rate, the circuit breakers are functional however I didn't observe a failures module of any sort (nor an EFB). That doesn't bother me because I'm not really interested in that at the moment. There is also cabin/cockpit dimmers and the night lighting is decent. I do like how they've placarded V speeds on the far left for reference as you fly. I don't have a lot of experience with this engine type - it sounds a Lancair IVP - which I've been around and are typically equipped with the TSIO-550 as well. Sounds could be better imho but it's not an incredibly expensive addon either. I'd give the sounds a 7/10. I'd say as addons go the PMDG 737 is 10/10 and the FSWC414 and MV C310 are about 9/10 for reference points. Overall it's a good product for a reasonable price. I'm glad they kept it under 30 USD. It's about on par with Carenado, with slightly less texture quality but more systems functionality. I took it on a flight from Eugene, OR to San Luis Obispo in CA. Route: KEUG OED J126 RBL J65 SAC J126 SNS T261 MQO (RNAV 11 CTL 29) KSBP at FL250. It was murky and rainy leaving Eugene but the skies cleared up and allowed for some nice scenery watching about half way through my trip. Here are Part 1 of my shots, departure, climb and cruise phase. Part 2 later with descent (VNAV guidance from the GTN), and loading and flying the RNAV approach into KSBP. Unique design for sure... 7. This was a great trip from Block Island KBID to KSYR in the lovely Black Square analog kingair. I also picked up two Verticalsim airports: Syracuse and Omaha, NE during their sale. About 10 USD each - a great deal. Both are really nice. I will do a few extra screenshots upon landing and Part 2 of this series. This is a stunning livery by Waffler over at flightsim.to as well. I waited for a brief storm to pass and then we were underway. The flight is mostly direct at FL220. Untitled-2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr BID is a short runway checkout that nice contour. 8. TDS will soon release an update for addons which allow for use of both TDS GTN and WT GNS (the new early access version in the Marketplace). At the moment, addons like the Carenado PC12, Black Square Analog KingAir, and Blackbird (Milviz) C310, which use allow for a selection of GNS or GTN units, will not work completely. Both units will fight for control over the autopilot. Addons such as the FSW C414 are unaffected by these new GNS units because FSW has defined a set of avionics per model. Here's my screenshot showing the TDS GTN 750Xi next to the WT GNS 430. At the moment no variables are shown on the GNS430. It may be possible, later, to have a secondary GPS source with populated data (I asked Matt from WT about this). In this example I would use the GNS430 for additional navigational reference like selecting direct a fix to gather distance/track info. That being said the GNS430 will still function as a COMM2/NAV2 for the time being. Additionally, in this specific Carenado example, it is quite possible that Carenado will adapt a GTN 750Xi/650Xi combination instead of the 750/430. GNSlvarsPC12 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr
  9. This panel fixes the out of sync PFD and replaces the MFD with the F1 GTN 750, and is for version 2.1 of the Carenado SR22 GTSX Turbo. For the MFD, the first soft key will toggle the trim/engine tab on the sidebar. The second (from the left) activates direct-to on the GTN unit. The right arrow button just below the Nav dial will open the 2D GTN. The default MDD has been disabled as it causes major issues with the link to the PFD. The installation method that I am using does not overwrite any files and can be easily undone if needed. If you do not want to edit any files, rename the panel folder from panel.gtn to just panel and replace the files in your install directory. Installation: 1. Copy the panel.gtn folder into your sr22 install folder (this may be different if you use the addon.xml method): ...Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado SR22_GTSX_Turbo\ 2. Edit your aircraft.cfg to activate the new panel. Each livery has its own [flightsim.x] entry in the config. Where it says panel= change the entry to panel=gtn. You must do this for every livery that you wish to change. example: Images (top image is non-gtn fix): https://imgur.com/a/tDWohDU Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JwXMpE85-Njehmk2Ss8-Kzf93GlH2rnr/view?usp=sharing
  10. seems the GTN 750/650 is crashing every time x plane runs, the fault suggest something with ATI, but i have the newest drivers from AMD, running win7 64bit I have attached a pic of the crash report, hope it will help me, thanks after i posted this i paste a screenshot of the crash, but don't know where it went, any other way to get a Jpeg in this post?
  11. Watched most of these yesterday and today, and found a few independent videos as well. I saw somewhere in your information that the RXP GTN 750 uses Garmin GTN trainer v6.41. There are some touted features of that Garmin GTN software update that I did not find in their tutorial videos and do not clearly see them called out in your product information. So wondering if they are in your implementation of the GTN 750 based on trainer v6.41. Examples are the ability to add ad hoc holds (unpublished) at any fix; approach guidance for visual approaches; LNAV +V approaches without WAAS. Find those to be enhancements of interest. Then is there an iPad app yet that can connect to the RXP GTN in FSX. My iPad is the only touch screen device I have for use with flight simulation.
  12. After replacing the default 430 with the RXP430, I can see the unit, but I can not power it on. I have tried various power options for the RXP 430 but nothing works. The default A36 unit 2 powers on fine. (This scenario is also the same for the RXP 530 as well as the GTN750)
  13. Hi there, I just finished editing an updated GTN 650 3D model including an optional PBR glass effect. The GTN is fully functional but a few adjustments are still required in that C337 cockpit (Carenado) (instruments size is non-standard). The GTN normal map is also still missing. When this mod will be ready, I'll be able to share it with the community, thanks to Carenado/Thranda's permission. Also, I'd like to thank Jean-Luc from Reality XP for his invaluable help and availability. The opportunity to learn and use these realistic instruments would not exist without his work and skills.
  14. Dear all, I purchased the GTN 750 for Xplane today and everytime I try to use it, the COM panel is red and message "No GPS Position" appear on the map. I already tried to reinstall the GTN I already tried to reinstall PC Trainer I use X-plane 11 64bits (latest update) Same problem in all airports Same problem in all aircrafts I can move the map and use all menus Failures are disabled on X-plane Content of my file rxpGTN.xpl.log : 17/03/02 10:00:35.411 10044 - ] # win.xpl version 2.4.0.0 Content of my file rxpGtnSim.dll.log : 17/03/02 10:00:37.650 10044 - ] # rxpGtnSim64.dll version 2.4.0.0 Screenshot in attachment. 15. Hi, I just made a simplified checklist for the king air and it is not working, is there an error in my checklist? You can download the file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c0fOp9SpKn_jIeK1r1zNfrDGuLPVOvki/view?usp=sharing
  16. Hello all. I am looking for a high performance single engine aircraft to do some touring with. I am admittedly biased towards high quality, system depth, etc. and would prefer native GTN750 support. I have both of A2A's higher performance aircraft, the 182 and the Commanche, but the Piper AP is not really to my liking. It works, and may be what I have to default back too, but I wanted to get the opinions of others on here. Believe it or not, I was looking at the Carenado A-36, but getting the GTN into the panel seems to be a project no one has tackled yet. So feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks for reading.
  17. After installing the RXP GNS-530 into P3Dv4.4, I could see it appear as a GPS option in the A2A C172N and the Comanche 250 Aircraft Configuration program, and I was able to place it in the A2A panels just fine. After purchasing and installing the GTN-750, it does not appear in the Aircraft Configuration program as an option to use in the Reality-XP choices. Only the 530w. I also see the FS1 GTN750 as a choice. Should I see the RXP 750 listed in A2A's Aircraft Configuration? I tried using the Add-On menu installer, but the only thing I could get to be visible was the Pop Up GTN750. I only bought the RXP 750 to use with RealSimGear's bezel that I just ordered, so I will only be using the popup version, but shouldn't I be able to apply the GTN750 in the VC panel? Jim in Ohio i7-7300/GTX1070/Win10
  18. Did anyone managed to install RXP GTN 750 into Carenado Grand Caravan C208B (with regular cockpit, not "EX" model)? Giving that this bird is heavily discounted now (simmarket, justflight), I would like to buy it, but it will be pretty much useless without GTN.
  19. Anyone can how to integrate the gtn750 into the Laminar Baron 3d cockpit? Im interested, thank you.
  20. The GTN Tutorial videos at the Garmin website are covering all there is to know to get started with the GTN with ease. I recommend you tour the features in a hands-on approach here: Garmin GTN Learning Center Videos
  21. I created checklists for the Carenado Aero Commander 500S Shrike to be integrated into your GTN750. The file includes Normal Procedures, Emergency Procedures, References and Acrobatic Maneuvers. If you see any errors, inaccuracies or anything you think should be added/emended, please let me know. Any feedback will be appreciated. LINK Note. In case you don't know, in order to load checklists into your GTN, you have to download the latest GTN version (v.14) from Flight1 first. Then, make sure you have the latest GTN Trainer for PC version. Download the file from the link above, copy it into the main AC folder and rename it "chklist.ace" (thus removing the "_AC500S" section). The GTN will read it automatically when you load the aircraft in your sim next time. Once you are in the cockpit, checklists are accessible from the GTN interface under Main/Utilities/Checklists. If you want to edit the file, download the free ACE tool from the Garmin site: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5075.
  22. News for all to enjoy, Flight1 GTN gauges have been updated to v.1.10, and a new update tool comes with it. Update looks to cover all platforms, all versions.
