January 17, 201412 yr I think that once they informed us of its work in progress, they should then have the common courtesy to then keep us further informed, Just my humble opinion. January 18, 201412 yr This has me wondering... Was development for the 767 started in 1995? At the rate that we're going here... geesh. Chase Barnett
January 18, 201412 yr That anyone thinks the LDS 757 will ever happen is a true testament to the hopeless optimism of the dedicated flight sim enthusiast!! Still have their 767, still fly their 767, still love their 767. I'm satisfied. Cheers, Jeff "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -Leonardo da Vinci (some experts question the attribution, but I'll go with it for now.)
January 19, 201412 yr And this is exactly why I have not bought the plane... No doubt Chris, the amount of work I do preparing for the 777 flights pretty much makes up for the monotony of flying her. She's like a fine luxury car with all the bells and whistles, and getting the chance to sit in the left seat on these modern jumbos is something that cockpit crews work hard to attain the privilege. But yeah, going from the NGX to this I can see the stark contrast between the two and I kind of miss the excitement, the connection I felt to the NG. Regarding the pre-ops, It's only going to get better with FS2crew, and I believe Bryan from FS2crew is working on a pushback product to sync FS2crew with PMDG ground ops. So many pushback options, it makes my head spin trying to keep track of it all. I have GSX, AES, the PMDG push back, the future FS2crew built in pushback, the future separate FS2crew pushback module, ai yi yi! Like you said, part of the fun is mastering the choreography of all the preflight preparation s like ground crew ops and pushback, it seems 90% of my work and effort is spent on the ground, and the remaining 10% is really just sitting back and putting her on autopilot. Want to update the winds on the FMC legs page, just push a button. How easy is that, I can't believe all the tedious data entry I had to put up with for all previous addons. I normally get flustered flying without FS2crew, but this bird is surprisingly easy to manage, no doubt due to all the hand holding and simplification of an otherwise complex system. The way I see it, PMDG worked hard to hide all those complexities by faithfully recreating the vast automation of the 777, which can be either awe inspiring or off putting, depending on your perspective and piloting style. I'm sure the old school folks who grew up on steam gauges and mental calculations feel strange flying her, I think I'm somewhere in between bored and grateful, because flying a two person cockpit by myself, no matter how complex or simple, can be a frustrating task and that automation does in fact serve a meaningful purpose. The plane and model go back well before that - all the way to FS2000 when Wilco published the 767 that became the Level D 767 as their first Pilot in Command aircraft. Here's the Avsim review... http://www.avsim.com/pages/0301/767pic/pic.html I remember the first time I hit the N1 button and the engines roared into take-off mode. Nothing like that had ever happened in flight sim and it was pretty amazing. The 767 is a great product in some ascpects and is (now) a failure in others. Lets take a look at it, shall we? The 767 (for FS2004 anyway) was released in early 2005 (February IIRC). People were enthralled by it, they loved it. For 2005, it had state of the art graphics and a very immersive systems simulation. Even an accurate FMC was there, everything from the Cargo Heat to the Fire Handles worked almost flawlessly. It was a definite 5-star product of 2005 and was for some time after, with continued development for years after. Now, entering the last quarter of 2013, the graphics, especially the VC, are now very outdated and most definitely in need of refinement. Zinertek released an update for Level-D's VC textures last year and it helps some, but there are still some important detailings missing and the VC just isn't immersive anymore. The systems simulation is still pretty great and the 2D panels will suffice for some of us who don't like the VC anymore, but we would all like to see what Level-D brings as far as improvement goes, which brings me to the 757... Just months after the 767 was out, Level-D announced a 757 project for real (there had been plenty of speculation). People were once again excited because they would finally get an accurate 757 for FS9 and, soon after, FSX. Years passed with no news, updates, info, screenshots, anything. In that time two competitors took the market, Captain Sim first, and more recently, QW. CS was fantastic with the visuals, but the systems failed miserably as far as realism goes. QW came IIRC in 2010 with their 757 and, though not as complex, was far better as far as systems than CS. Today, I believe, there are more QWs on peoples Computers than CSs, but only by a margin. I personally tried them both and disliked them both, but QW was definitely better than CS. Now here we are, nearing 8 years since the FS9 757 was announced, still with nothing more than 'It's Coming' from a rather sarcastic sounding Dev-team. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure their tired of questions asking when and how much longer and blah blah blah, but it only took about 2 years to make the 767. I know people have their own real lives to live and can't focus on FS all day every day, I know that as well, but I too have waited a long time. I don't want to sound like I feel entitled to screenshots or info, updates, or anything more than the 767 I rightfully bought from them and currently still fly every now and then. But I'm sure we all here want something, 'It's Coming' has settled some, like myself, but not everyone. Perhaps a projection (nothing official) on a release date, even very vaguely, would help to settle others. We've waited a long time and are only complaining because we want to see just how good Level-D has gotten. Unfortunally, I'm under a NDA, so ... B) This is the funniest thing I've read all day? What IP could Level D possibly be working on that any other development team would want to steal...this is just too funny.
January 23, 201412 yr What IP could Level D possibly be working on that any other development team would want to steal...this is just too funny. A new flight sim which is compatible with all existing addons and comes with the 757 as a default aircraft?
February 19, 201412 yr In my humble opinion, while it is their full right not to disclose anything related to the 757 project, it should be a sign of courtesy if they keep the community informed about the progress especially that the project took so long compared to the standard development time. I bet if Boeing engineers were to work part time to make the real 757, it wouldn't take 8 years and more to develop the airplane. There is nothing bad in telling the community that the project has stalled or bugs have persisted. Working with modern technology has never been a sure business. At least that would free the 757 market for more inclined developers who have the resources to put full realism in the simulated aircraft. My belief is that a revamping of their 767 with a better looking VC, more goodies for the advanced simmers would have done better for their image in the FS community rather than sleeping with their 757 that long as if it is acceptable. Let's hope that they wake-up from their sleep someday with a good news Chedly Baraket
February 20, 201412 yr Maybe half-way through they realised that what they are developing became so outdated because it's taking them so much time that they started over. A few years later it all happened all over again. And again. And again... Or maybe they just don't have anything to show. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

February 23, 201412 yr Stop trolling, SOON! Just close this thread moderators. It adds no info at all. There are a few reasons why I don't think he's trolling. 1. He has been an AVSIM member since 2003, according to his proflie page. 2. He is VERY active on the LDS Official Forum; he could be a dev. (Nebojsa on the LDS Forums) 3. He has been a member of the LDS forums since 2005. He's been in the flightsim community too long to appear to be a troll in my opinion. 4. His location is Canada. DShutt's Location is Canada. This might be a stretch but it really seems as if he's a dev and that his news should be taken seriously. 5. Look at how many stars he has under his name when he posts. He'd have to be a REALLY good troll to be a member on AVSIM since 2003 without getting banned. I made the decision to post this NOT to attack your assertion but to make it known that JAT seems to be a respected member of the Flight Simulation Community. Although release might not seem imminent to us, just because he says that it is does not make him a troll. From here onwards I will not post in this particular thread - only because I want to make it clear that I hope this thread is NOT shut down, and that I DO NOT want to start an argument. February 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member I think the CS 757 is as good as their new Tristar I think it could very well match whatever LDS could have offered... CS has a lot of potential if they keep improving in areas they previously didn't do too well. To me the major plus with CS 767 is the fact it doesn't cause my FSX to crash on every second startup like the Level D 767 does whenever it's installed on this system. Still no idea what causes that as Flight 1 support couldn't help me.
