Re: NGX impending release: Are we there yet?

Featured Replies

I think that's clearly not what he was trying to say. Perceived performance aside, 775<1366<1155. Thus we have 775<<1155 (QED!). It's that simple. I came from a Q9550 - I really enjoyed it and 95% of the time I got just as much enjoyment out of it as my 2600k. It's just those times landing at large airports and flying near dense scenery that sets the 2600k apart.
Yeah. Core2 is very capable, but not that capable as i5 or i7.

Best regards, Steffen

My wife and I are on our way to Maui in three weeks for our thirtieth anniversary. If I tell her we're not going because a FS addon aircraft is being released, I doubt that there will be a thirty first anniversary. I don't think they'll sell out before we get back.
Since I live here......where would I plan a vacation to????? So I will wait.....hopefully I wont be drawing my retirement by then...zzzzzzzzzzzzzE komo mai and enjoy your stay on the valley isle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Now don't go planning any short-term vacations... You wouldn't want to miss release day!" ***FAIL***
WrongMaybe Robert is some sort of Alien, So short term vacations don't mean 1-2 month but more like 1 or 2 Billion years.Remember what Albert Einstein said, every things is relative, even time.So expect nothing before July or even AugustBen
My simming stops in June, thats when I become a belly flopping, speedo wearing, bbq eating, beer drinking maniac. Summer is to short up here in Canada eh! unless you live in BC. I'll get my NGX in the fall, I hope.
Haha! Yes indeed! BC is one constant crappy season! Especially the lower mainland Vancouver :(

PMDG j41, 747-400x, 747-8i/f, NGX.......Finally!!!!

I don't care anymore if I have to wait 1 week or 1 month because the final exams are approaching now. May 17th they will start and it takes approximately 4 weeks, so in the next 8 weeks I have not time for flight simming =)

nope - but my next vacation takes place in september so I have time :(
The implications of what you said are disheartening...but probably true. I predict that beta lasts for a month to a month and a half, then add on 3 extra weeks for marketing wrap up preperations, and an extra week for good measure. So make it at least 2-3 months before we see this bird. This is assuming beta started on that monday they implied it would, which I doubt. In that case, tack on another 2-3 weeks! My prediction anyway. Hope I'm wrong...

If you enjoy lower autogen in sparse areas when you run complex add ons, then sure; you're correct.
Still false, I dont have to lower autogen. In fact, I have never found autogen to be much of a problem at all. :(
But I don't like to handicap my sim.
Me neither and I don't. It must have been something system specific to your computer or set up, even though you were at a highter clock speed and used a better vid card. :( It doesn't really matter though and didn't want to get into a pissing contest with you, but it always gets my goat so to speak, when I read commments that you need a really highend CPU, such as an iXXX or 2500/2600 to get FSX to work well. On a properly set up and configured rig, even an older C2D can still get really good results and not cause you to have to "handicap" your sim. That's just my experience though since I read posts of people with a lot better rigs than I have who cant even maintain 30 FPS at JFK with the PMDG 747.Sean Campbell

Same position here! :( Though I'll find the time for more real flying with the season change, simming always takes a back seat and my simmming controllers collect a little dust in my closet around exam time.Hopefully NGX's release is soon (3-4 weeks). Then maybe I'll buy it right at release and even get a little play time!

No pissing contest! Cool the jets! I get that your happy with your sim, and I'm very happy for you! I was very happy with my Core 2 setup and I still love that system. My friend, whom I sold it to, has relegated it to FS9 duty. He's extremely happy with it! But if you make the i7 leap, you'll sing the same tune. :( My opinion is my own. I'm much happier with FSX and it's even more enjoyable now. I'll reiterate-- I get that you're happy with your system! More power to you! :( We're all partial to our systems if we built them ourselves. Kind of like the saying: "Which aircraft is the best aircraft in the world? The one you're flying!..."Guess why I can make such strong statements? Because I owned the exact processor you do! You haven't built an i7 system!

I've often wondered that. Where do people who live in Hawaii go on vacation?

Pretty much who ever has an MD11 Beta signature (like me) are NGX beta pilots too but; 1) we don't have the NGX banners yet and, 2) it's not in beta so what would we say?EDIT: And because this has happened in the past, DO NOT bombard us with PM's about the NGX. They'll only be ignored.
I'm surprised Robert let you make that statement" the confirmation that its NOT in Beta" :( I personally don't think I'll be asking to many questions or PM's to the Beta team! unless that I wanted to know if it had installed as it should have!Anyway there goes my theory for a Easter Launch :( Lets see who's 1st

Ye, I feel you there, summer is short here in Alaska too, there's still snow on the ground it's almost May, and the big piles of snow probably won't melt until June....I can't wait to leave, on the good side though it's a good place to start working on your Pilot's License. I'm going to try and start working on my PPL soon.Big%20Grin.gif

Exactly. Maybe Robert WANTED him to make that statement. :( Personally I don't trust anything said on the subject until I see some proof. PMDG (and those working with them) are a sneaky bunch. Can't trust 'em sometimes. :(

Well, appearently they're not in BETA... Some people are good at playing word games. I guess no one from PMDG would like to confirm this now, maybe something didn't go as their plan. My easter vacation (2 weeks) is coming, I really wish NGX could release soon so I can enjoy it during my vacation.. But it's hopeless now.Oh well, but software development is always like that. Being a programmer, I have a lot of experience like this. But being a simmer, waiting is really hard, but I'll wait and that's the only choice. Hope I'll be able to enjoy it in the summer vacation two months later.

I think they come to Portland for a break from all that sunshine :(
