August 7, 201114 yr A sobering and bittersweet time for us all as we remember a gentle man whose thoughtful comments and kind responses made those of us who are less technically adept feel better about ourselves as we enjoyed this hobby. David had a special gift for getting knowledge across without being pedantic or patronizing. I, along with many, will miss his guidance and reassurance. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with his family. JohnI totally agree with those words. My sincere condolences to his family. We have all lost a great freind. Dave Taylor
August 7, 201114 yr There was one member I always enjoyed and trusted reading his advice and seeing his post. That man was Opa. I've spent a lot of time looking at posts and searching when I was on FS9, and Opa was the man that I saw the most. His posts were always respectful and reaching out to help and share with the community.Like many of us I didn't personally know him, but Opa was a part of this community and it really hurt to learn and know that he has passed away. My prayers go out to his family. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB

August 7, 201114 yr I hope Avsim management will consider establishing some sort of flight simming "memorial" (in whatever form) for truly one of the most prolific and helpful simmers to ever grace our hobby.
August 7, 201114 yr So much of what I've learned about flight simming has come straight from Opa.Always patient, generous and friendly with a great sense of humor. We'll miss you. "Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"

August 7, 201114 yr This is awful news. "Opa" was the epitome of a grandfather in this hobby; his kindly, non-judgmental manner must have helped thousands over the years. For me, he was a fixture, one of the familiar friendly faces of "Avsim". I will for sure miss his smiling picture on the left side of the page.Condolences to everyone whose lives he touched, and especially to his personal family. August 7, 201114 yr This is very sad news indeed. I've seen Opa's name for many many years in this hobby and on many occasions made use of his contributions. He was always providing information and tutorials (Tips and Tricks) or creating cool things (navigation gauges and scenery) to help others. He is truly missed already.
