On a side note. Seems like the 'soon' on the Rex update is very close to the soon from some other devs. :acute: Nothing wrong with that as it's free of charge, but a little fishy that the REX Essential announcement (not this thread) came in very close to the AS2012 release, not? Tight business that is.

Its not as "fishy" as you say when you compare it to the announcement of that other product they announced last year call Air Transport Pilot or something to that effect and then never released it. They even had a contest with prizes for who ever guessed what it was. I'm wondering what ever happened to that product.

Hi Everyone,

What's the latest version?. I seem to have 2.5.2010.0820, is there an update?. If so, where can it be found.

Thanks

It's not the first time they announced "soon to be" something and than for months, soon to be years, nothing. They probably had different plans and something just didn't go according to their plan. Some bugs maybe, who knows. It's just a pity all that hype from the beginning of the year when they first announced it is now gone. I got used to AS2012, it's very good, so Essentials is not an instant buy for me anymore like it was before.

I think my wording with 'fishy' was inappropriate. I should have written 'makes me think' or something. Good catch on SimAir. I've read that Essential has full priority now, which makes sense when looking at those 6 months of 'Essential is just around the corner' right after AS2012 started.

There was one hotfix after that. http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10702-overdrive-hotfix/

Ha!

I got kicked out from the forum overthere because I asked why they announced the imminent release of that update, just before AS2012 was released..

Very bad marketing gimmick IMO.

They apparently don´t like to be told the truth...

Ya lets all bash on the REX guys, they only gave us Overdrive for free and now they are giving us REX Essentials for free aswell, how dare they. Lets also whine and complain and throw hissy fits because we are impatient, and brag about being kicked out of their forum.

Woah woah woah. How was annoucing Essentials at around the same time as AS2012 a BAD move by REX? Seems like a good move to me, it kept people interested in their product. AS and REX are two programs that do pretty much the same thing, so there's obviously a lot of competition...

Quite honestly there's something seriously wrong with the weather data that is being received by the current version of REX weather engine. I have to admit that I am getting violent winds all over the US, when before I would get them only in certain areas over the oceans. Yes people are getting inpatient, some of which wouldn't actually mind to even pay a little for an upgrade instead of getting a freebie.

Are you a customer, or an employee of REX?

:LMAO:

Ali, that was uncalled for. Please refrain.

REX Essentials for free

No such thing as free in this world , as I told my 8yr old son when he noticed McDonalds had a free Coke. "With purchase of full size value meal" :) I got a "Free" hat from nvidia once, after signing up for it, along with a million email spams!

IMO, I would rather they take their time and get it right. It looks like is going to be a big (FREE to current owners)upgrade and they probably ran into some technical issues....I have no problem with REX's delay, I can wait!

A bit of a no brainer, this one. I own REX2, so I will be able to get REX Essentials as a free download. It would cost me a lot more to purchase AS2012.

Case closed
