May 23, 201214 yr Coltrane don't forget the VirtualCol Jetstream Super 31 for FS9 released earlier this year. Not in the same class but not too bad either.
May 23, 201214 yr Coltrane don't forget the VirtualCol Jetstream Super 31 for FS9 released earlier this year. Not in the same class but not too bad either. Affirm. Frankly, I have never heard before, Is it lite a/c? thanx for the info.
May 23, 201214 yr Ya, sentimental reasons... I used to be a passenger in these things back in the late 80s, it was AirCal then, KSNA-KSJC typically, and they used to really freak me out, all the rather strange noises it would make combined with the noise abatement procedures out of John Wayne that they never told you about back then... was sure I was gonna die the first time I flew in one, LOL. SO, oddly enough, now I just HAVE to fly one in the sim... some kinda catharsis i suppose :LMAO: How soon is the FSX version supposed to come out, oh and can one just run the FS9 version on FSX? May 23, 201214 yr I had a pretty wicked stutter on my first test flight, but the advice from Lars in the "CTD and FPS Drops" thread cured it. Could you please point to that thread? thanks. JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
May 23, 201214 yr was sure I was gonna die the first time I flew in one, LOL. That's funny, that's how I felt the first time I flew on a 737-200. Maybe it was the bumpy flight and not much room for error at KMDW. Those reverse cones looked like the engine was coming apart right after touchdown. May 23, 201214 yr You know, one of the interesting things to me, is how completely this aircraft has disappeared from US commercial traffic, I've often wondered why that was the case, and what happened to the planes that were being used... just idle curiosity. Jack F. Vogel, Delta Virtual Airlines
May 23, 201214 yr Jack, I want to say it was fuel efficiency. The only reason why I say that is when the company I work for (US Airways), merged with PSA in the late 80's, the BAE 146's that PSA flew were grounded fairly soon afterwards. It seems to me that fuel efficiency was the reason given. My guess is most of them ended up in Europe.

May 23, 201214 yr Regarding the price, with $48, you'll get these: British Aerospace BAe146-100 British Aerospace BAe146-200 British Aerospace BAe146-300 British Aerospace Avro RJ70 British Aerospace Avro RJ85 British Aerospace Avro RJ100 In addition, for fs9 simmer, a new fs9 add on is not something you may often encounter in the future as the vast majority of devs are migrating to FSX. Unlike fsx users, there are and will be tons of add on coming, so yes when it gets pricey they need sometime to consider. That's not the case for FS9 simmer. We don't have many options really. There are only 2 fs9-friendly developers out there keep supporting our platform, Qwings and Airsimmer. Maybe, just maybe, 146 is the only fs9/fsx aircraft released in 2012. You don't just purchase to satisfy your intellectual hunger, but also keeping fs9 alive by supporting them, thus supporting us fs9 simmer, so they will remain to stay, we may see more add ons for fs9 in the not so bright future. Actually, I would say it is a bit of a bargain for thirty quid: You get several RJ variants and several 146 variants, very nice external models, a nice VC, 2D panels, a freebie upgrade for an FSX version which will presumably only be better, it has pretty much all the systems a hard core simmer would want, but it is not desperately hard to operate. It has a good FMC, gets good frame rates, flies nicely, has cabin announcement sounds, comes with the Flight 1 money back guarantee, and the security of their Flight 1 Wrapper system in case you lose your exe file. Support is good, notably becaue FS legends such as Ernie are involved with it, you can expect a lot of repaints, especially since both FSX and FS9 repaints are likely to be somewhat transferable or at least usable as the basis for a simple conversion. If anyone can show me another newly-made FS airliner which offers all that for thirty notes, I'll show my &@($* in the street. Al I think these two posts sum it up. Not alone are you getting a real bargain here (and for those of you also using FSX or considering migrating there in the future you are getting a great aircraft that will function on both platforms for a reasonable price) but, as evident from the comments made in many of the other posts, you are getting a quality product AND rightly rewarding Quality Wings for their efforts in developing this and for their confidence in the FS9 market to be willing to take the risks involved in developing aircraft for us. I would therefore encourage everyone enjoying FS9 to buy this and show QW that their confidence in the FS9 market was not misplaced. I certainly want to see more from this company and I really want their forthcoming 787 to still be available for FS9. Bill
May 23, 201214 yr even in fs9, it burns fuel like crazy  Surprising in that it only had 4 hairdryers on the wing. Friends who flew the 146 referred to the engine anti-ice as 'climb repellent'. Cheers Steve Hall
May 23, 201214 yr Surprising in that it only had 4 hairdryers on the wing. Friends who flew the 146 referred to the engine anti-ice as 'climb repellent'. Oh my, these things were the bane of my existence when I was a controller in the London TMA. Everybody had them, Jersey European/flybe, BA/Cityfler, Debonair, Sabena/Brussels Airlines, Cityjet etc etc they were everywhere and did they ever drive us nuts. Absolutely shocking climb performance, and in hot weather you were guaranteed to be co-ordinating with nearby sectors because there was no hope in h*ll of them climbing above. Worst climb performance of any airplane I have ever witnessed was a Titan 146 that had departed Manchester EGCC on a hot Summer's day. I was working the TMA Cowly sector at the time and EGCC Southbound departures were supposed to climb above us into the Daventry South sector. I think the agreement was FL190 by 10 before HON at the time. Well this Titan 146 was approaching my boundary out of FL120 when the Manchester Stafa controller called me. I decided to work the aircraft because it was doing so badly. Turned out to be a good decision, because this thing struggled to get up to FL190 eventually by Compton. Had to co-ordinate the damn thing with TMA North West and South West. I believe EGCC departues were supposed to be FL310 or above by CPT. I had to ask the Manch controller if it had been stuck down on its way out and was late climbing, he told me it had continuous climb all the way off the ground ! And don't even ask about the fun we had getting them climbing through the whole London area when departing from Gatwick on Northerly LAM departures ! Enjoying the QW version though :)

I didn't fly PSA a lot, but once or twice certainly, both they and AirCal were big at KSNA. I was a regional field service engineer in SoCal for a Bay area company, hence lots of flights back and forth through the mid to late 80s. Eventually I moved closer to KLAX and flew out of there mostly. I guess it makes sense with 4 engines that it wouldn't have been that efficient. Boy, I'm really getting the itch to fly this bird now Jack F. Vogel, Delta Virtual Airlines
May 24, 201214 yr Hi There, Bought this today and did some circuits to check systems. In a word.. ''outstanding''. I am running it on a 3 x 24" screen setup and the VC is top class. Great manual and quick start guide as well. Looking forward to the 146 variant.. PS.. I discovered a fantastic bunch of Apps for the iPAd and iPhone. RemoteFlight Map HD and Remote Flight Radio HD are really great. All great for FS9 users.. Rgds, John Hi Again, Apologies I put in two of the same screenshots last post.. Here are some others of the Avro FS9 Driver
