July 27, 201312 yr Mmmm, credit card is burning a hole, but I have been really not blown away with the screnshots so far. They all look like GEX! Is this really the same product from Orbx's promo shots? No offence to the screenshot taker above, of course, but is this really what we've been so excited about ? FTX Global As I said earlier, I got up early to buy buy buy! ....... At the moment, I think I'd rather spend the $90 on MegaSceneryEarth states with 25% off! ...... yeah I know! ...... that wasn't today's plan. But distinctly underwhelmed by the screenshots so far. Hopefully some cool ones will follow. Can we see any screenies of the UK, and Europe?
July 27, 201312 yr Ok, downloaded and installed. I thought I would first give it a spin at friday harbour in the trike just to get a good idea of the magnitude of difference over default. And WOW. It looks great. the colours are so deep and rich, the autogen looks fantastic. The road textures appear to have been replaced as i'm getting actual roads with lines and not just the grey strips. Its been less than 5 minutes but I am hooked, and my simming enjoyment outside my current full FTX regions will increase significantly. If you are still on the fence about FTX Global then I say go for it. It will only get better once the OpenLC and other add on packs are released. Just changed it to night and i'm even more impressed. The lighting looks fantastic, and The ground and autogen are dark enough that you can only really make out shapes unless you are in the middle of town with lot's of lights. The worst thing about this is it makes the night colour of the water and sky way too bright, So I think we need some replacement textures for these so the overall picture blends better. But, halfway there to dark nights! The best thing is knowing I never have to look at ugly default fsx again!
July 27, 201312 yr I´d love to have it right now but that would take ages with just 2 MBit/s connection. In about one month we´ll get 6 MBit/s, then I will buy it! Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

July 27, 201312 yr Can we see any screenies of the UK, and Europe? I posted three comparison shots here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/414481-some-fsx-default-ftx-global-comparisons/ (FSX default vs FTXG with autogen at extremely dense).
July 27, 201312 yr Very disappointed with the product because of this (DX10): Orbx should have tested their stuff before releasing it! Mike Best regards, Mike
July 27, 201312 yr Hmm then thats a no-buy for me. I thought they stated it was DX10 compatible? Mark
July 27, 201312 yr well here I am at 2310 and I still haven't downloaded this product after starting at 1400. After downloading 4.12Gigs I had to shut my computer down to go out for several hours thinking no problem, just hit resume in the downloader and continue. Came back and tried to resume and Download Accelerator zeroed me out with an error and it started again from scratch .!!!!! So I am going to give it a miss tonight and try again tomorrow.. 4 Gigs of wasted nothing !!!
July 27, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hmm then thats a no-buy for me. I thought they stated it was DX10 compatible? Doesn't that have something to do with custom street lightning? I don't thing the textures are incompatible, just custom street lightning I guess but that can be disabled.
July 27, 201312 yr Disable the custom landclass (row houses, industrial, container yards etc) and that will take care of it. Of course you won't have those UTX special features anymore, but hopefully ORBX can do something about that in the future. It looks absolutely brilliant without those UTX textures mucking up the place molleh, how about Vegetative Landclass Layer, WC Waterclass Layer? Thanks, Dirk.
July 27, 201312 yr molleh, how about Vegetative Landclass Layer, WC Waterclass Layer? Thanks, Dirk. Hi Dirk, The only one to disable is the "LUX Custom Landclass"
July 27, 201312 yr Very disappointed with the product because of this (DX10): FTX Global.GIF Orbx should have tested their stuff before releasing it! Mike When I loaded it up, I saw the black squares and thought the problem was on my end, turns out it is not truly DX-10 compatable. Someone opened a thread on the Orbx forum about it. The explanation is that since it was made with the FSX SP-2 SDK, DX-10 compatibility was assumed. Personally, I think this is pretty sloppy work, not at all what I was expecting. So No-one, in all of Orbx ever tested it in DX-10 mode?!?

July 27, 201312 yr Why so expensive?! Doesn't really interest me one bit, more into the flying than gazing at the ground...
July 27, 201312 yr The beta testers were so busy kissing the ground that John Venema walks on that they forgot to look at their computer monitors! Mike Mann
