Goodbye EZDOK

Featured Replies

It's Goodbye to EZCA for me.  EZYDOK seems to be very temperamental on my system and only worked some of the time whereas 'Opus' has taken it's place and is a 100% reliable.

Anyone else made this move, and why?

As long as Opus doesn't have a decent mouse look feature I won't switch. I know that I could use the mouse look feature of FSUIPC or interal FSX but the former is instable and e.g. stops when the mouse pointer is over a button, the latter is unusable either.

Although EZCA occasionally crashes or fails to start a reinstall usually fixes this issue (using the original Flight1 wrapper).

Tried it, but I liked aeroflyFS' movements so much better that I just couldn't stand going back to FSX with EZDOK. Didn't have any technical issues with EZDOK though, although it is a pain to configure.

Opposite for me. Ezdok worked near flawless out of the gate, where with Opus camera was silly hard to configure and was all jerky.

I have been using EZdok since the first day it came out, I'll never give it up. On the other hand though, it's getting harder and harder to recommend it to other people since development and support (well, other than from friendly users on the forums) has stopped. I know it's not the developer's fault (health issues I guess) but I won't recommend a product that has no active developer.

i tried opus demo and i didn't liked camera, not realistic for my taste. Absolutely no problems with Ezdok for me

I don't have any problems with EZDoc apart from having to restart it after an FSX crash.  A little niggle.  I do hope Prepare3D 2.0 has the feature in it out of the box.

Anyone knows about the status of EZDOK v2? It's been quiet about it for a looooong time... Hope it doesn't become vaporware....

The Opus camera is way more realistic than EZDOK IMHO.

It more closely represents what I see in a real aircraft and actually produces different rates of effect based on the weather, something EZDOK does not do.

Considering the camera movement in Opus was recorded using acclerometer data from real aircraft, Im not surprised it feels better to me.

And it can be tied to their weather too

I love Opus, but they need to work on the efficiency of there simconnect communication methods. Maybe replicate what EZCA has done. Out of the box, trackIR is just jerky, twitchy, and stuttery regardless of the tracking settings. I know they have improved a bit with the later releases by increasing the background priority, much like what EZDOK does, but there is simply no happy medium when adjusting the parameters. I have given up and gone with EZDOK and it simply works, and its NOT that complicated to setup...plenty of youtube videos can get you started, then its cake.

And I'm sorry but FSGRW simply destroys the competition.

opus for weather - no brainer

opus with DHM - all about taste.  Personally,  setting up cameras is way easier with EZCA and the movement effects are great.  I rarely ever get any crashes and always just works.

EZDok has been working flawlessly for me for a long while.

I have tried Opus cam a couple of times including a recent build and I like the camera setup and management, but the trackIR movement is just too jumpy compared to the smoothness of EZDok.

I tried messing with the settings suggested (TIR priority, sampling etc) and just cannot seem to get it as smooth and natural as EZdok so I am sticking with EZdok for now until Opus gets their TIR interaction working better.
