Hello Alan,Just to be clear Im not affiliated with IXEG in anyway,Just a fan and future customer :)

Phantom88; a famous line comes to mind, "There he/I goes again" thought you were involved with this project, because I'm really, really looking forward to this project release.

I'm quite a fan of Mike Ray's books on flying airliners. In his earlier books he has clearly indicated that MSFS is the way to go for airliner simulations and not X-Plane. In his more recent books, however, he hasn't mentioned X-Plane either negatively or positively at all.

I hope this upcoming IXEG will change his mind because I would love to use an updated version of his handbooks based on the X-Plane platform. Of course, if IXEG would work together with Mike and release the Aircraft together with a dedicated book written by Mike, that would be absolutely brilliant.

There is the usual impatience that is common to flightsim hobbyists when a really promising add-on is soon to be released, but I must admit that while I would love to see an early release, deep down I prefer the IXEG philosophy of getting this done properly the first time. From what I have seen and read, it looks like this will be a superb piece of software engineering.

Aerox-planes and flightfactor, rotatesim and many other will do that before im afraid.

Those shadows, scenery, lights and lighting! Far more convincing than other sim platforms and products.

X-plane = amazing platform - can't wait to come across as soon as IXEG releases their classic!

I, like others, see a future in a 64bit/new platform. P3D just still doesn't quite cut it. Like a friend says, ..."you can polish a xxxxx, but at the end of the day, it's still a xxxxx". MSFS needs to be laid to rest.

This is nothing short of amazing. When AVSIM did their annual conference at Denver (must be about 10 years ago now), living in the area I attended it. Tom and staff had organized a visit to the United Airlines simulator farm at Stapleton (required security pre-clearance), so I took my CFII at the time with me. We got to "fly" a night approach to KSFO 28R in the B734 full-motion sim..... looking at this video it's so realistic as to what I recall the real thing being like. To see something like this in a PC/Mac low-cost sim is unbelievable.

PMDG are doing equally as well with their product, it's just that IXEG got to XPX first...

I go back and forth between XPX and other PC sims.. back to XPX currently and loving it, in anticipation of a new 5k Mac in a few weeks :)

Thanks, Bruce.

Same here, sure all sims have their good points and bad points but x-plane in its present state, coupled with some great freeware airports and mesh scenery is what I spend all my time flying lately. This aircraft from IXEG is bringing the level of fidelity up a notch to match or even surpass what we currently have at this time.

They actually might be able to single handily show enough progression to make even the most anti XP fanatic take notice.  While not anti XP I don't think a day goes by that I wish that LM had bought out Austin instead of the source code for FSX.

I have given XP10 a complete and honest try (over 3yrs and multiple big name releases) and it's the glacieral and often wandering pace of progression that drove me back to P3d.

Wish the team at IXEG the best of luck and if the upper visibility limitation is addressed after release I will surly give this a go.

I think one of the reasons they went with the FSX code, is they are not jut targeting P3D towards Flight Sims, they want to have the ability to use it as a training device for both commercial, Government, and Military applications. For both air, sea, and ground operations. For that they need an expandable AI system that they can modify to their purposes. XP's AI system with it's 20 object limitation just doesn't cut it. Add the built in Mission system in FSX, that they can customize, and it made going with the FSX code even more relevant for their intended goal.

Thanks

Nice video...  rain is a nice effect that is now missing from most FSX addons.  A few still have it like the Realair aircraft.

I wonder how much this will be but I'll take interesting as long as the FMS is updatable / navigraph support

Yes, I have always understood why; never questioned their reasoning.

II will not comment further in order to keep the thread on track.
