"Microsoft Sells License to FS Franchise" Part 2

Featured Replies

They all mentioned that the MS Flight! engine, formerly known as part of ESP II, is a lot more advanced than the ESP which is used for FSX and P3D. They just were not allowed to use all of it`s potential, due to economical and strategic reasons.

Exactly. It is a real shame that so many of the "hard core simmers" got obsessed with the arcade features of MS Flight. Unfortunately, the full potential of MS Flight was never unleashed, for reasons we can only regret.

Whatever the new licensee decides, I simply hope it will be a brand new flight sim with no explicit references at all to either FSX or Flight (because you are never going to please the old crowd).

So... no official news yet. The only places I can find this are on are other sites referencing each other.

What is the point in off-the-record press releases/leaks if there isn't anything to back it up? I'm starting to think  this is really bad smoke.

I agree... it's probably good that Avsim doesn't rely on it's journalistic prowess to maintain its reputation. Example: the press reported on Apple's purchase of Beats a week before there was any "official" press release.

Please be more careful when using the quote function here.  The quote above you somehow attributed to me is not from me.  It is a quote from a totally different member, Robin, that I quoted in my message.

IMHO there is no mud to sling at Avsim regarding this news item.  The comedy is instead all of the wild speculation being posted.  I am sore from laughing.

Flour-bombing from an ultralight?

Almost reminds me of the news coverages following the MH370 disappearances.

Richard Quest will be along soon to explain it all...

Sorry 'bout that... noticed it myself after it posted.  No mud slinging here... I love Avsim - been visiting for years... just pointing out that breaking the news without really reporting the news is a bit unusual.  It's good for generating interest in the forums though.

+1

Flour-bombing from an ultralight?

I stand corrected. It is indeed FSX, not Flight, that allows you to drop flour bombs in its missions.

Are we 100% sure that the reporter is 100% certain about exactly who won? Or does he just know that someone won the bid, and who did not win it? That may explain some of the reluctance to be 100% clear!

Seeing as FLEX1978 seems to be the source of this mess, he should perhaps try and clarify it.
