Who knows if this is true or not, but I'm certainly going to wait for a 30x0 Ti.
With 'only' 10GB of VRAM on the vanilla 3080, it isn't enough for me.

Interestingly, it looks like at least some of the RTX 3080 cards have a fan on both the top and bottom side of the card. So you may have 'extra' hot blowing directly on your CPU which could impact the needed CPU cooler requirements, especially if it is an air cooler.

I can see a lot rushing in to get one of these cards and then have VRAM issues down the road with MSFS. Unless you get that monster card (3090?)

MSFS2020 is really RAM hungry... wonder if the faster RAM satiates it or more RAM regardless of speed?  Can't wait for some benchmarks and testing already!

There's already leaked info about Ti models releasing down the road with more VRAM.

Knowing Nvidia there will for sure be a super or Ti line down the road. 👍 Save your money and wait, both Super and Ti cards blow away the base models.

While in general this is true, in some situations it can be a lot better to wait than in others - especially when a generational leap is about to happen soon, and the competitor has yet to announce its own new product range within a month or two. AMD is unlikely to directly attack the 3090, but it's safe to assume they'll put pressure on the 3070 and 3080. As a reaction, Nvidia might present the 3070 Ti 16GB, as already hinted by the Lenovo leak.

Ambient air temp should have little affect when using a hybrid cooler or water cooling.

Be aware that a 3079 To and higher may need a new PSU... either more powerful or with a new 12 pin connector.

The 3070 would seem a sweet spot for now if upgrading from a 1080 or lower. For me that equates to around a 50 percent boost ... plus G sync (with an OLED TV that needs RTX)... with just 2x8 pin connectors and a 650 W. So just the 450 quid ... maybe less 175 if I flog the 1080 !

A 3080 would require another 80 to 100 quid for a better PSU...effectively 750 quid.
