If  3080 only has 10GB of memory, I don't think you have enough for a good job. Only 3090 !!!🤨

RTX 3080 cards with 20GB VRAM will be coming from AIB partners at a later date.

Looks like the 3090 requires two separate gpu 8 pin cables too. cant use a split one. Going to be a lot of PSU sales too from this!

Why do you think that? All it says is "2x PCIe 8-pin", nothing about being separate cables. My EVGA 2080ti has two 8 pin connectors and I run it off one cable and pigtail.

And they'll get close to  cost 3090

Sitting in the same boat. But mine is nearly two years old now and I try not to remember what the costs were.

I bought my 2080ti only a few months ago, fully aware that the 3000 series cards might be this impressive.  But hey, with Covid and all and how it impacted me i was in need of some sort of pick me up and the 2080ti was it.

The good news is I won’t have as much drive to rush into a purchase as i would if I was still using my Gtx1070...I can let everything settle out and decide if/what/when I upgrade to a 3000 series card.

As a 2080ti owner who paid full price.  Not a happy camper

I know how you feel, mate 😅

That 3080 looks promising, indeed. I´m afraid it´ll have to wait a while, the new HP G2 comes first...come on...

Cheers

RTX 3070 - $500, faster than RTX 2080 Ti

That is very unexpected 👍 Thank goodness for competition. 🙏

Think I'll go for the 3080 in my new rig, 3090 seems like overkill and with the 3080 being 20% faster than the 2080TI (even with a GB less ram) it'll still be a far superior card.

Once optimisation is done on the sim then it'll be more than enough to comfortable run everything on maximum settings. At $699 (£525) its priced very reasonably too.

Now DX12 and DLSS 2.0 should be a priority for MFS so those FPS can finally rocket out.

VRAM needed might rocket with it.

Not with the new technology that compresses it (or something like that I believe!)

I'll hold off until the Supers drop in a year.

I'm very pleased that I resisted the urge to upgrade my 1070 with any of the 20** series cards now, my only real dilemma now is whether to basically get an equivalent 2080TI GPU for £469 or pay another £180 and get the next level up card?
