[08APR22] PMDG 737 for MSFS Developer Update

Featured Replies

It seems for the first time there release is the 737, it was always the 738 with the 900, now what they have done is done away with the model that most airliners use and simmer mainly use the 800 and made the 800 an expansion, LOL marketing for you, sell the 700 then they will all buy the 800, boom !!!! and let them wait 12 weeks for the 738. Good old PMDG. They problerly worked out that most are sick of buying the same aircraft from them, then working out it has to sell for lower ££££ $$$$ than FSX/P3D so lets make the 737 the base and the 738 the addon this time base+738= $$$$ we want ...lol

I'm pretty sure that Fenixsim will come soon with an update.

We might have updates on the PMDG 777 before that...

It started with a very open communication full of stuff to absolutely nothing.

After more than a month of work on their side on a couple of screenshot and a few lines, they still did not published anything.

I read it as all packages will cost the same.  My guesses are a price of $69.99 and a Release Date Friday May 6th.

I'll only be getting the 700 but I feel like if that's the case, the price would be far too high for subsequent variants.  A tier discount thing would be better.  2nd variant 49.99, 3rd 29.99, etc (assuming you buy them all).

I am just happy to see the choices we're going to have in the coming months.. this is going to be a great year!

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

I actually prefer the 600 and 700 to the longer versions, although I fly all four in P3Dv4. These are just quick circuits at multiple airports, but the differences are noticeable even during these basic flights.

PMDG is a great company, but they tend to "forget" their products, no updates for months or years. The DC-6 for P3D has stopped for years and no news about the DC-6 for FS20. In my opinion PMDG doesn't consider that FS20 is a constant work in progress sim, and following the evolution of FS20 is mandatory.

I agree. The DC6 has issues  that they know about, and months go by, and nothing gets patched. People knock Carenado, but at least they patch things that aren't right.

very nice.

Mostly good news but disappointed there won’t be an EFB or associated performance calculator at release.

Lol what. Why would people buy only one. That are completely two different products and planes.

but having the pmdg 738 only 3 months later sucks. They know most want only the 800 so they hide it behind unpopular variants. Thx for nothing

Because i really dislike the -800 and -900, they look ugly to me and they're just another 737 anyway. Not interested in the -600 although it looks "cute".

So, only one and only the -700 for me.

This point comes from your considerations, not from the update

It comes directly from the update. I recommend you read it again.

Actually, I'll be kind and link RSR's statement here:

Another customer driven idea that we are enacting with this release cycle is to treat the release phase for this series of 737s almost as if it were an early access phase. The term "early access" doesn't really apply since each product will be almost entirely finished when it is made available to you, but there are features that we wish to add to the product line that we can only dedicate resources to after the initial product release cycle begins

Going by your name, I'm going to assume you're not familiar with early access. This is part of the definition:

Quote

Early access, also known as early funding, alpha access, alpha founding, or paid alpha, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can purchase and play a game in the various pre-release development cycles, such as pre-alpha, alpha, and/or beta, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue further development on the game.

And now you do know.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

The release is for this month.

Blatant cash grab with releasing unpopular variants first and making it a 12 week wait for the 800. I'm not wasting any more cash with these people I'll take the 800 and use the remaining credit on the 777.

Guys, the -800 will come after the -700, unless RSR changed plans from what he said for months ongoing. Also the EFB will be there as far as it's understood.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I am not happy with the release sequence and agree with someone above about the cash grab scam, but I've been waiting so long for this that I'm only going to whine about it here and probably never again. Just give me the darn thing, now! I am also a bit disappointed with the lack of tutorial videos from him, as I actually thought the DC-6 series were pretty good and I didn't even buy it.

I really hope that the level of quality of the passenger cabin resembles this!

Advanced Tutorial videos were promised to DC6 customers when it was released.  That never happened.
