Some of the larger developers will likely already have known about this new version for some time and are probably involved in some way getting their products ready

iniBuilds have already said they don't know anything about MSFS2024. If they don't know, I imagine that hardly any other developer knows about it.

with the opinion or the sarcasm?

I was agreeing that flying crop dusters and rescue missions are mostly the "gamer kids" haha. A lot of us will play with it some, but for the most part it's not your hardcore simmers. The only part I meant "mostly" about was in addition to airliners, hardcore simmers also include our GA guys as well, not just airliners. But I do agree with your opinion - it's just not popular opinion these days with the Xbox crowd.

Inibuilds already made a statement saying they knew nothing. Scenery developers have said they same....

I take this as a good sign unless the opposite is proven: the scenery designers just did not NEED to know anything as they are not affected, i.e. any scenery will remain compatible with MSFS2024. But a clear word would surely help and dropping this on a Sunday without having the Comms team with FAQ at hand to answer the most pressing questions is not very professional IMHO

I think it's pretty obvious that the core engine is the same.  What they highlight in the video are missions, thus better visuals and animated people/animals, WITHIN the mission (scripted).  My guess is that even the tornado is scripted as part of the scientific flight for a mission to perform research.  The only thing that looks like it has been changed, or is changing, is the season coloring.  The clouds look the same, the base/core sim is almost certainly the same, so backwards compatibility will be nearly 100%.  There might be some fine tweaks to certain details that developers need to adjust to, but nothing significant.

My guess?  New missions, a "couple" new planes included (VisionJet, A400M), seasons, and a mild tweaking of the overall engine that would have occurred without a new install application.  I would almost bet money that improvements to ATC, weather, AI and other core features will be non-existent.  If they're like most game developers, they will include the planes for world map flights, and some tweaking to core features that push users just enough over the edge to buy the new program.  Like saying "weather radar 3D modelling" open to developers, or something that really draws the hardcore flight sim study-level type into the purchase.  They know the aircraft won't push existing users into buying anything more.  The VisionJet, which was likely contracted for inclusion from FlightFX, will not draw anyone in when they can just buy the plane individually.

I don't know why but I feel that belugaXL is actually from Aerosoft, looks to me Mr.Kok is confident that their AS330 will be compatible with MSFS2024 unless they were involved with belugaXL perhaps? 🤔

All this speculation ...

To be honest none of the career stuff im going to use. Guaranteed. But the day it releases is the day im getting it. Why ? because i want to support the sim. The same franchise that i have using going back to FS 3.0. You need money to pay people to keep this project going and i am sure Jorg had to demonstrate to his boss some sort of revenue stream to keep the lights on for his staff in the office. Server access for 10 years is not cheap. Somebody has to pay those bills. If i have to re up by paying every few years for a new version with an enhanced core i can live with that. If there is featureless free update to 2020 users great as well but i personally feel that the options we probably will get  (Speculation of  a free core update or purchase  the new version)  To me its better than having a true monthly sub ( I really hate monthly subs).

"To achieve this unprecedented level of accuracy, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is powered by the significantly evolved Asobo Studio engine."

But how significantly evolved?

Fs95,98,2000,2002,2004,fsx… kind of expected, I’ll buy it day one if only to support the flight simulation genre and to play my part in progress.

 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

I noticed the screenshots (which are just still frames from the trailer) the file names start with MSFS_Limitless
I wonder if that was the code name. Which sounds way cooler than 2024 tbh

Inibuilds did the Beluga for XPL, so I'm quite sure they are behind this.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

What I can say is that if PMDG wants to charge me again full price to upgrade to 2024, that will be the end of my relationship with PMDG.

I mean given belugaXL is based on A330 so maybe I was wondering if AS helped on this. But could be iniBuilds but sure is not Asobo.

They didn't between P3Dv4 > 5 so most likely won't in this case either.
