Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Announce Trailer

Featured Replies

It seems like career is the main focus for this trailer, hopefully there'll be future trailers highlighting other aspects soon.

Although the engine doesn't seem too different, on a first glance it seems that grass and trees are affected by helis; hopefully that's not just local / scripted but means all vegetation can be affected by wind? (The effect was available in MS Flight, so hopefully it makes it in the new MSFS at some point).

Also it looks like several areas' satellite imagery has been improved? Certainly the canyon, alps, and I belieeeeve the top of Kilimanjaro are looking sharper and better coloured?

Speculation.....

"PMDG proudly announces the 737NG4 for MSFS 2024!! A brand new and super authentic version of the Boeing 737NG series (including the latest version of our universally loved EFB; release date to be confirmed)"

For only $49! 😁

As identified by @David27 in the latest 8th June Development Update, seasons reverted from 'Started' to 'Planned'.
I wonder whether the reason fundamental improvements and fixes to MSFS 2020 have been slow or not at all forthcoming is because it's better (from MS' perspective) to have them in the new MSFS 2024 as a reason to purchase the upgrade?

I'm glad to see the sim continue to develop, though I'm concerned for:
a) whether my 3PD add-ons will continued to work in MSFS2024, and,
b) the third party developers themselves who apparently again have been blindsided by a MS announcement out of the blue.

If there's any concern that current add-ons won't work in MSFS2024, then you can be certain that people will stop buying.

I don't have a lot of hope either.  Honestly, like previous versions of MSFS, I don't care if I need to add third party programs to get things working right, but AI has issues that apparently can't be fixed via third party, and the weather system should be opened up, regardless of how pretty it can look.  Not having weather radar in expensive add-ons is a joke.  We had that in FS9.  It's a beautiful sim at times, and I am thankful for it.  I just wish they would address core features that don't work well instead of just adding more gimmicks to it.  This is really why I don't play traditional games.  They release buggy content, don't fix anything, release more missions or maps, et cetera, then come out with new versions.  It's just a money pit.

At the end of the day, unless I can start my career on the ramp loading baggage and worrying about heat stoke, I am not interested. 😄

I think MSFS is in a very good state and delivers on its promise. I would just love to see more focus on certain aspects of the simulation. But well, maybe you can‘t sell a product with such kind of trailers.

I  hope these are more than just scripted missions. I remember a comment from MS support a few months back when they said that there will be not much development in the current mission system as it is being totally revamped. Hopefully these are more dynamically generated flights based on your progress.

Will ground stutters and blurries be included in MSFS 2024?

Well, guys, I remember when we had FSX, how many years without an update? How many tweaks did we went through? And how many add-ons we had to add... and still we kept tweaking and tweaking and even twerking, until we got the SIM sort-of-right?

So, please gentle guys, relax.. let's enjoy. Let's Not complain. Please No Complaining !

Man, I wish they'd fix the dammme weather 😬

Well, if you were wondering why so many issues don't get worked on, it's probably because they were spending their time on this nonsense. This looks like something that should be an addon. Steering away from flight simulator fidelity and going towards cheesy video game stuff. They may also be looking to have everyone have purchase flight simulator all over again. We'll see. Not good IMO.

I agree. Not good at all. Now all the add-ons will have to be bought back, because of "compatibility issues". As an add-on, should be ok, as a new game, not so much.

They've just started to get helicopters working in FS and we're now doing rescue missions. I'm just wondering if they've given up on the 'flight simulator' part of it and just want to make a pretty game where anyone can jump in do helicopter rescue missions and fly fighter jets in the Grand Canyon. Meanwhile, ILS approaches and PAPI lights are still borked. Everyone is happy though so... good times I guess. It's almost like what some people feared with the xbox thing may have been correct.

Displaying impressive graphics and proper flight simulation fidelity are two different things.

Gee whiz! Look at those trees!!!  smh

That’s besides the point. The point is MSFS was a ten year plan. Some people will be worried now, having to shell out for a new sim. Not everyone can afford it. The fears of MS flight will be close to some Hearts I’m sure.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really looking forward to going through the entire PMDG line of 37s all over again.....bahaha.  So many funnies we could make here. 😁

But, on a serious note... I hate to see I'm almost 80 years young, and still waiting on developers such as Aerosoft to bring out their Airbus 330. They spend so many resources on other garbage rather than focusing on a project and finish it in a descent time. By the time they bring out their A330, it will be 2040, and I will be 6 feet underground.

Flight was kind of DOA to begin with. This simulator is far too popular on so many different levels. If MS/Asobo decided to stop supporting this current sim and completely branch off to another it would be absurd. More likely it would be a DLC-type of addon but the core development would be applied to this current simulator. Kind of like FSX's dlc the acceleration patch. That DLC didn't make everyone change everything but if you wanted the extras then you got it.

Don’t forget the borked weather engine and countless downgrades. Ah well, Asobo gonna Asobo…
